Given 7 Taylor 6.5 Coloccini 7 Bassong 7 Enrique 5 Duff 7.5 Butt 2 Guthrie 7.5 N'Zogbia 3 Owen 5 Carroll 5 Jonas 8.5

Bassong didnt do anything wrong today, but didnt do anything to warrant getting a higher score than Colo. They both did their jobs, thats all.
-
Owen was one of our worst players today. Started brightly with good movement but missed lots of good chances, and had a poor first touch, especially second half.
-
Oh, and why the fuck Kinnear didnt bring anyone on I'll never know. Carroll should have come off, he was very quiet second half. I'd also happily see Steve Harper in centre midfield if it meant getting Butt off as well.
-
We really should have won that. Wouldn't say we played particularly well though. Nicky Butt was fucking terrible, the sooner he leaves the better. Jonas had a superb second half, especially towards the end, he just didnt stop running. How obvious was it that Fagan was going to be announced MOM over the tannoy though. He did fuck all other than be a mouthy dirty little shite. Duff, to his credit had a pretty decent game, and Guthrie (although he faded slightly second half) handled the hostility towards him really well. Jonas MOM for me.

looks unfit to me. Possibly. Was a late fitness test for him wasn't it?
-
Nailed on to get sent off, hes been a fucking whining dirty twat all half.
-
Enrique looks like he has concentration issues.

Guthrie is playing really well, just getting on with it. I'd be suprised if Hull finish with 10 men, they are playing quite dirty. I don't know why he didn't just straight swap Jonas for N'Zogbia (who was fucking shite by the way), and kept Duff on the right as he was actually doing well there, and Jonas tends to be better on the left. We had a couple of chances early on that we should have scored, other than that, both teams have looked pretty sloppy giving the ball away in the centre of the midfield (other than Guthrie tbf).
-
Be surprised if it's anything other than to give him a rest. Quite a bastard of an injury he got, even though it didn't keep him out for months and months. Hopefully your right.

Any particular reason why Jonas is on the bench?

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Yep, and to think I come on here at work to relieve my boredom! -
Who said that? Kinnear
-
Yes, this is a real door of opportunity for us to get some players in.
-
The thought of Butt being more mobile than someone. The thought that that statement is actually correct as well!!!
-
Jonas has been closed down as soon as he gets on the ball, but he's worked hard for the team. Harsh to say hes been poor.
-
Cattermole should have walked for that the dirty fucking cunt!
-
In all honesty, 6th spot is absolutely there for the taking. Unfortunately, as much as I'd love to be wrong, I can't see us being consistent enough to be the ones to take it.
-
Easy on the eye but lacking a cutting edge and seems very light weight, i.e. the kind of player who despite his technical ability will never dominate games. The fact Huddlestone had more influence says a lot. It could of course be first season syndrome but honestly for the price they paid for him and for all the hype he seems remarkably ordinary in my opinion. I thought Corluka had an okay game for them.. I thought N'Zogbia ruined him quite often.
-
It's also only recently that the defence has been played together consistently. At the beginning of the season Beye was injured, Bassong was backup, Enrique was injured/in and out, and only Colo has been there all the way through. Overall Colo has done his own job well since joining.
-
No he wasn't he was pretty poor when he first joined. No he wasn't. He tried to play the ball a little bit too much but he wasn't poor by any stretch.
-
I disagree. I think the purchase of Coloccini has been the most influential. Bringing in an Argentina international central defender for big bucks showed that we were willing to spend the money if the player was right for us. We needed an experienced head back there, and to have him in the shape of the relatively young quality player that he is has had more influence on the team imo. Coloccini's been very good since joining, and its between him and Bassong for player of the season so far. Hasn't missed a game, and knows what he's doing. Could still do better though mind. I agree with pretty much all of that, other than that if your going to mention contenders for player of the season, you can't not mention Shay Given as he's been outstanding this season.
-
Dunno if this has been mentioned, but did anyone see this on MOTD last night? http://i36.tinypic.com/15not2f.gif

You mean "did" very well

again, you're referring to the 2 times it was obvious lennon had skinned enrique...he did him a lot more than 2 times in the game, he just didn't do anything with it once he'd beat him there's a difference - i don't think anyone can honestly say enrique had the edge in that confrontation yesterday I would say he did, even the commentators mentioned how frustrated Lennon was getting at Enrique shutting him out. Also, surely Lennon not doing anything with the ball on other occasions is due to the defender forcing his position? You can't take the ball off of the attacker every time, sometimes you need to track them and shut them out. That's the way I see it anyway.
