I agree, I thought Guthries delivery was generally very good today.
-
Very satisfying result, no-one played poorly today. I thought N'Zogbia was quite quiet early on but came into the game well. I thought Enrique had a very good game, as did the rest of the back four (bar one uncharacteristic fuckup from Colo), and we deserved our win. I really hope we push on from here, though I'm not completely ready to shake the feeling that we're gonna be there or there abouts all season.
-
When we lack depth and are in massive turmoil, I couldn't think of many worse players to bring in than a really injury prone, negative attention attracting mouthy twat.
-
I'm not overly a fan of Zoggy in central midfield either, but we are pretty stretched there at the moment. I've just read that Guthrie actually has more chance of making the game than Duff anyways, so I'd just stick Zoggy on the left and guthrie in the middle.
-
I wouldnt mind seeing: Given Beye Colo Bassong Enrique Geremi Jonas Zoggy Duff Owen Martins Although I'm not sure how Geremi would be able to cope with little defensive assistance.

Apparently Aalborg wouldn't give that much as they are replacing him after this match. well yeah. Im sure the fans would probably have him though
-
Anyone see the Aalborg manager with his fans then? What I would give to have a manager that we have that kind of raport with.

Beat Arsenal 1-0, 3 years ago today. Probably the best game I've ever seen Scott Parker have.

Couple of goals for Kazenga!!

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Just out of interest why do you find it ridiculous that clubs speak to their players about potential signings? Surely if you have avenues to finding out what a player is like you should take them. I can understand you saying it may not have any great value, but I wouldn't say its ridiculous. -
Some absolute bollocks being spouted in here I see.
-
Shame we don't really have much in the way of adequate back up though.

Did you actually read that article???

Wasn't Pattison actually considered promising at one point?
-
That shower of shit that he built.

Can't argue with the choice of players in the OP, those three signings (presuming Appiah stayed fit) would transform our team. Where would Podolski be used though? Whenever I've seen him he's been used (and looked very good) on the left. How would you accomodate him, Turan and Jonas?
-
Maric, Marcelino, Guivarch, er.... Boumsong. Im sure there are many, many more.

Given 'I'm too good for Spurs' (or words to that effect)

I have been fairly critical of Given post Harewood challenge, but he has been back to his best this season. Its easy to take for granted just how good he is as well. I was watching a random premiership match the other day and saw one teams 'keeper parry a shot, and I immediately thought "Given would have held that". -
Newcastle 4-0 Olympiakos The one time I've been to St James'. I've still got it recorded on Sky.

Yep, and Tony Hibbert still gets into our team. One of the greatest goals I can remember in my lifetime being scored against us. Iirc, didn't Bellamy get the winner after about 58 deflections? One way or another, our games always seem to provide entertainment. Indeed he did get the winner. I remember saying to my dad before that goal that it would take something special to beat Richard Wright. I remember the commentator saying it as well I was that commentator didnt you know
-
I just think Owen was having a poor game as he wasnt involved, and for that should have been taken off. I can understand Martins being pissed off, because I was.

I'd say that last season when we'd went about 8 games without a win under Keegan, 1-0 down at Birmingham at half-time where I think we'd have went a point above the drop-zone in mid-March, was a much scarier position to the one we're in now. I dunno it just think that its because we are down there so early on this year and that I think that we're gonna be there or there abouts all season. I did think we were going down at half time against Birmingham last year though.
