Both questions imply the same thing though don't they
-
Unfortunately I think he will still be here.
-
That but with Enrique at left back. Beye is THAT good that he could play both sides though.

I think Dyer has contributed a hell of a lot more than Duff. Since Duff has been with us, he has struggled to even beat his man at times. You can knock Dyers attitude and end product but he could go past players. He was also much quicker than Duff and like Jonas does, he brought the ball forward, allowing others to get into position as well as forcing the opposition back. I still maintain hope that Duff will hit some form. Lately he seems to actually beat his man, do the hard work, and then completely fuck up the final ball.
-
It's quite sad how dependent I have become on this during work days....
-
We're not going to get relegated.. As for who we have to be beating, Fulham have lost one game at home this season, they're not as bad as you're making out. I'd be surprised if we did go down this season, but with all the teams from 9-20th so close, its not beyond the realms of possibility this year.
-
He doesnt look like that type of player to me. He still put the effort in yesterday, his passing was just a bit off at times.
-
This is not even about whether he thinks Duff is better than Zoggy. It's basic substitution strategy to bring on a fresh player for a tiring one towards the end when you are chaisng a game, even if the former only has 75% ability of the latter (and I don't even think such a gap exist between Duff and Zoggy. In fact until quite recently, Zoggy has been the better option). Skirge I disagree that it was good move to put on Owen for Jonas. Even if you think Jonas wasn't on top form, he was still doing more than Duff...by quite some margin. So the one substitution he did make, he got it completely wrong = fucking useless with substitutions. It completely agree with you, my N'Zogbia comment was more of an unrelated comment/annoyance.
-
I think his substitutions have generally been poor since he's been in charge, I thought this prior to yesterdays game. I'm also disappointed that N'Zogbia hasn't even come off the bench for the last 4 or so games. He'd probably been one of our better players this season until JK took over. Duff has played better recently I'll give him that but he was shite yesterday and still shows no end product.

Fulham vs Newcastle United 9/11/08 Pre-match thread

At this point in time I see where your coming from with Enrique but I think he could be a good player for us given a run of games, certainly good enough to be in a team challenging for a higher position. If the rest of the team around him is of a decent standard of course. -
Yep I just looked at that as well which represents now at the height of an injury crisis. I'd say this side has more quality than the 2006 one though. Owen's talking about finishing in a European place. It might be a bit ambitious but when you consider we just beat Villa who are pushing for a top 4 slot it's maybe not that far fetched. Shame about all the uncertainty around the club though. If you was to replace Taylor with a decent CB, Butt with a decent DM, and have everyone in the first team actually playing to their ability (massive IF), then going for a European spot shouldn't be beyond the set of players we have.
-
Perhaps as way of proper comparison you'd like to post a team from today's squad without 7 first team midfielders and 2 best strikers (Bowyer, Dyer, Emre, Parker, Jenas, Luque, Milner, Shearer, Owen from that squad iirc) I don't think Jenas was there then.

With everyone fit, there would be a few "senior players" left disappointed at not even being on the bench, which isn't bad considering you can now have 7 on there. I can't recall us ever having players that should arguably be a squad/first team player not even making the bench. As said in another thread, I don't think our problem is lack of depth, its more lack of quality in areas of the first 11. -

You missed the laughing smiley off the end. My bad, ammended.
-
If you put the following in, it wouldnt look too bad... Emre, Dyer, Shearer, Owen, Boumsong , Bowyer, Parker, Luque
-
looking back over old threads i couldn't believe how bad it was, 2-3 decent players is pushing it tbh Given - definite Nobby, N'Zogbia possibly. Thats it...
-
I dont particularly think we lack depth as a squad overall, I think our problem lies with the quality of certain areas of the first team.
-
That is a shocking lineup tbf. 2, maybe 3 decent players there. That must have been at the height of an injury crisis though, or a cup game.

Thing about the City goal is that although the finish was pure luck, his control of the ball and body movement was spot on. Really bizarre really As for the other point, I don't think one person on this board said one good thing about Shola during the Keegan era. And why would they? We had Owen, Martins & Viduka firing on all cylinders. I am absolutely perplexed by the resurgance of wor Shola. If Kinnear some manages to get Alan Smith to score a competitive goal here then THAT will be an achievement. I agree that no one really should have said anything good about him, after all, its down to him to earn his reputation, but when you feel like your manager, team mates and fans have zero faith in you, it has to be hard to pull yourself out of it, and fair play to him for doing it recently. I cant recall ever thinking Ameobi looks like he has a decent first touch, and has some sort of intelligence on the ball, but the last few games he has looked fairly consistent in that hes bringing down most balls played to him like a premiership footballer should, and actually doing something on the ball, whether it be playing a pass, or taking on his man.
-
I wouldnt want him as a first team regular by any stretch but his general link up play has looked better than I can remember recently, since he got his lucky first goal. Keegan maybe a good motivator but I think Ameobi's confidence was at absolute zero under him, whenever he appeared for us he was playing like he thought no one had any faith in him.

These are almost like anti Chuck Norris jokes!

He does actually make me look forward to our games with more enthusiasm. I just feel like we have a chance when he's on the pitch.
