    Players in public

I know the person in your footer with the facebook thing. What's up?
  2. There are so many seats free this year you really have nothing much to worry about if you want a seat this year!!

    08/09 Squad Numbers

Think that Gutierrez (Spelling?) is going to be 18.
  4. It is not only money though. Say a club like Wigan or Bolton managed to hook a multi Billionaire as an owner do you really thing that they could simply buy the greatest players in the world? I don't I think that the top players wouldn't want to go to Bolton (no disreaspect and just using them as an example - in fact you could replace Bolton with any club outside the top 4 and then outside of London). Chelsea are in a position where they occupy one of the more more geographically desirable locations in the UK (not for me I must add, I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to live in London, I think it's a stink hole!) and have a very wealthy owner. QPR have the richest board in football but, they are not signing anyone that makes the news!! Players only want to go to clubs that offer them glamour, there are a number of fashonable clubs around - Man Utd, Liverpool because of history, Arsenal have always been there or there abouts, Barcelona, Real, Inter, Milan, etc etc now Chelsea have entered that realm. Personally I now realise that Newcastle won't win the league in my lifetime, I saw them come bloody close in the 90's. I just want to see a team that can compete and maybe lift a trophy, something to be proud of. Doing that the right way, as we are, will make it all the more sweet.
  5. I have moved to the East Stand with my dad this season and I'm an old bugger as well so we can all sit and be grumpy together!!
  6. They were the most pissed off customers after the hike so there will be plenty of choice for you in that area.................YOU RICH BASTARD!!!! People who have tickets in the Platinum Club had to pay a fee for the privilige when that area was created, which is why - up until this year - the seats were much cheaper than the bar seats that surrounded them. This year the renewal has gone up to £935 and as a result a few people are chucking the tickets but, I think the box office lad said that they would be looking to sell their original stake (bond if you like) rather than simply not renew. That said, there is a very good chance you could get a single seat in that area this season if you want it and can afford it. Note: As a Premium Season Ticket holder you will automatically become a member of Newcastle United Club, this entitles you to purchase an additional match ticket up to 4 weeks before general sale and you get a members gift pack worth over £35. Additionally, the love just doesn't end there, you get 10 issues of the Newcastle United Club Magazine which will launch this summer.
  7. Been to St James' today to pick my new seat from the numerous options they offered me. While I was wandering around the stadium the lad from the box office who was accompanying us said that they had hardly anyone in the bar seats last year want to renew again this year, in fact the Black and White Club at the Leazes side of the Milburn stand had no-one who had renewed, due to cost! He said that the club has plans to put individual match tickets up for the coming season because they are aware that a lot of former members are planning to buy tickets only for individual "glamour" games like S*nde*l*nd, Man Utd and Liverpool. They will also be lowering the prices for matches like Hull and Stoke, some tickets in the Gallowgate may be as low as £15 for those games. I am happy anyway, I am out of the Sovereign Club (shame because the bar and the comfy seats were welcome) and across into the East Stand and now paying £650 instead of the proposed £990, in fact as I have taken the price freeze option for three years my ticket is actually under £600. Anyone who wants a season ticket for the coming season is pretty much guarenteed to get offered one although looks like the bulk of them are going to be in the Premier areas of the ground.
  8. Even though I have gone to the match for years the feeling I get when I emerge through the entrance and I can see the inside of the stadium has never changed from the first time I saw it, all the changes have only served to make it better in my opinion. I love that our stadium is in the heart of the city as well and just a short walk from the pub.

    Newcastle TV

I had the displeasure of sitting in a Chelsea bar before the match at Stamford Bridge last season watching Chelsea TV's build up to the game. I can honestly say it was pure shite, horrible, unprofessional and generally cringworthy to watch. That is the only bespoke tv channel I have seen for a football club but, if that is the standard of the journalism and reporting I would be tempted to give it a wide berth.
  10. They are down to the last few thousand renewals, mainly those who have requested to move seats. I will say in all honesty there will be a few tickets available for those who fancy a punt at a season ticket this year. More than likely the bulk of tickets available will be in the Premium Seats / Bar areas - £990 each.............
  11. There are seats available in every stand according to the girl I spoke to today.
  12. I hope so and I hope it continues! Although I didn't actually say there would be gaps in the crowd, I said that it makes me worried that there would be gaps based on the amount of choice I had to choose from following my request to move seats.
  13. I asked to move last year and was totally fobbed off by the box office, they said that it was unlikely that I would get a move as they had pretty much everyone wanting to renew! The fact that this year it is so easy makes me worried that we will have a lot of gaps come the forst home game, especially as it is against Bolton!
  14. I just had a call from the box office, I requested a move out of the Sovereign Club because of the cost of the ticket this year. I sit with my dad so needed two seats together, I was surprised at how many different pairs of seats they have offered me. Going up there on Wed morning to have a look at a couple of seats in the East Stand, just want to make sure that they are far enough back to stop the sun getting in my eyes when it shines over the top of the Milburn. There were seats available in every stand!! The girl said that they are down to the last 3000 or so applications which are all requests to move seats, anyone who hasn't heard about their seat yet will get a call this week.
  15. Is anyone else thinking Danny Guthrie = another Matty Patterson?
  16. Would be a shame for him to go but, with his constant sulking he cannot be doing any favours to the general atmosphere around the training ground etc. And what with London being about an hour, by air, closer to France it will make all the difference for his feelings of homesick!! I have always said that no matter who the player is, that if they do not want to be at Newcastle United then it is time to let them go and get in players who want to be part of this club.
  17. From a Liverpool fan on another football forum following the announcement of Guthrie joining Newcastle: "Danny did ok at Bolton but never quite looked up to the job for us. Good player in the right team, though not one who will tear up any trees."
  18. My text said that the club and player had reached agreement etc etc.
  19. Where Pretty much everywhere now mate. Sky are saying that we still need to agree terms with the player though.
  20. Confirmed as signed 3pm today 11th July.
  21. Mirandina, Nobby, Acuna all great players and played an important role in the history of the club. My dad will tell me that teh Robledo (sp) brothers were very special as well.
  22. That is not what I was saying, I was saying that the transfer window is officially open as of today 1st July so all speculation and expectation before now was exactly that. Today the real business of signing players can begin.
  23. Think it was clever tactics by the club to offer a pay cut. It was obvious that the player would refuse the offer but, it goes on record that we have tried to compromise based on the circumstances of the player. Now that he has entered a guilty plea and will receive a suspended prison sentence we have by default offered the olive branch which was pushed away leaving us with no other alternative but, to sever ties and terminate the contract. Plus he would never get a shin pad over the top of his electronic tag!!
  24. Guess around week comm 21st July or maybe the week after.
