  1. Why would Berbatov come to Newcastle? The squad being assembled at Spuds is looking very impressive (prepares to be shot at from several directions) and if I were a player with any sort of ambition I would think that Spurs are moving in the right direction having spent close on £50m this window!
  2. Not had mine yet, post has been today as well. I would have thought that there would still be plenty of availability for tickets if anyone is still considering buying one as well.
  3. When it rains they just close the giant roof across the top of the stadium and put the heating on, it's lovelee! :kasper: No, seriously they will still train. It is better for the foreigners to get used to being soaked and freezing as soon as possible.
  4. There will be no unaccompanied children, chavs etc allowed in.
  5. Ok, he was sacked in January following the dreadful run of matches without a win. All I was saying was that without securing the 17 odd points that we did by September we would have been bottom three by that time with little chance of escape, as it was we had just about done enough to allow a decent run towards the end of the season to save us. Remember it took Keegan about 10 games to get his first win at Fulham!
  6. Exactly. I was only saying that the decent start that we had saved us from devastation. Those 3 months without a win would have probably had us bottom 3 in January if we hadn't started the way that we did.
  7. We actually started quite well, I think if it hadn't been for the 17 or 18 points we had amassed by September we would have been right in the shit over the xmas period. As it was we sunk into a very dangerous position and were only saved by a late rally after the turn of the year. I can clearly remember that when we were beaten against Derby away, that was one of our games in hand over teams above us and if we had won we would have moved into the top 6 at that time. We held an unbeaten home record for quite some time as well.
  8. Bugger the thread isn't about goal celebrations anymore, still my favourite ever was Shearers when he got the record against Portsmouth at St James'. Still think his simple one arm aloft salute is the best ever generally. The worst is that horrible Earnshaw thing where he does a forward somersault and pretends to fire a gun. It makes me want to run up to him and knock him clean unconcious!!
  9. The latest version of Media Player should do it but, if not try downloading something like PowerDVD, all the codecs you need should be included.
  10. Valancia are here in Newcastle, they may have arrived late but, surely they could have dragged their arses out of bed by 3pm. Lazy bastards!!
  11. It's buggered up my plans, I have a table booked for dinner at 7:30 at The Himalaya at Birltley, hopefully they can move the booking back half an hour of so.
  12. For what it is worth I think Kane has a point, made in a slightly overly aggressive manner of course. Thought the police created the situation in that corner because they were simply looking for some trouble and some smaller people that they could push around, imagine going to court and they read the charge out: Arrested on Wed 6th August for having possession of a football at a football match.............
  13. Their second goal was a joke, don't think you would see such lax defending in a game that mattered. Think the score was irrelevant last night, it was good to see some effort and something approaching a perfomance.

Ah, I see. Lucky bastard!! He was caught twice in 2 weeks at over 100 mph on the spine road!! If that had been anyone else they would have been banned for a year!
  15. I really enjoyed the match, when I saw there were no strikers playing I feared the worst but, the lads on the pitch did fine. Jonas was great, think he was blowing a bit by the end but, his fittness will continue to improve, Guthrie was solid and looks a fantastic prospect. Was watching the lads in the South East Corner, in the second half there were about 3 times as many people in there as there was for the first half, obviously people went there for the atmosphere etc. Thought the police got it completely wrong, the lads were having a great time cheering and making a decent atmosphere and the police who were obviously bored and looking for some easy targets waded in mob handed pulling random kids out and pushing them around like big men!! There was about 10k people in the ground in total and if that is how the police react to a small crowd I am waiting to see how they cope with a full stadium in a few weeks time!! Pathetic to be honest. Glad Smith wasn't playing, long may that continue!! When we have our strikers back and some of these new, exciting signings that are just around the corner we will be ok.

    Duff is banned isn't he?
  18. There are few people in football who are held in such esteem as Sir Bobby, I hope that he enjoys and relishes the remaining time he has left in the same manner as he has enjoyed all that went before. Bobby, you are a true North East and National Legend, you will be remembered for a very very long time. God bless you.

Was sitting in Nandos at The Gate after the match last night when Geremi came in with another bloke, 11:06pm he was turned away as they were closing for the night!!
  20. The Sports Bar is slap bang in the middle of the Leazes End in Level 2. At least you will get a beer easily at half time....
  21. Level 7 is not open at all for this game, looks like the crowd is going to be very sparce!
  22. Based on the poll at the top of this thread we are going to be looking at a very low crowd on Wednesday night, if only 1 in 10 are going to be going, from thise who have answered the poll, we could well have sub 10k in the ground!! I am going to both upcoming games, I have missed football since the season finished.
  23. I heard the advert on Century, adult tickets from £300. That is for an adult in the family area, need to spend £100 per kid on top of that, you can't just get an adult ticket on its own in that area of the ground.
  24. Limited availability in Sovereign Club, Bar 1892, Black and White Club ha ha ha, ok if you want to spend £990 on a ticket!! I have plenty of money but, drew the line at those prices and got a move elsewhere in the ground. I know at least 2 people who have chucked their tickets this year for various reasons but, the main one was that they have not been enjoying the match for the last 2 - 3 years. Fair enough really but, once the season starts I could not walk around Newcastle on a home Saturday knowing I was not going to the game. The buzz, even when we are playing like we have in recent seasons, is awesome!!
