  1. If the club insist on Blaydon Races then they should commision a new version of it, the one they play, by The Longsands I think, sounds like it is being sung by my Granddad.
  2. I agree with that. The team as it stands is fine and playing well. Roz needs a rest because he is looking stressed at the back, if Faye is ready pop him into the place vacated by Roz.
  3. I think I prefer it at the end, especially after a good performance. And it's called "Going Home". Stirring music that conjures up different emotions for different people!!
  4. It is very bad luck to kill a magpie. Everyone knows that!!
  5. I usually roll up to my seat as the classical music is being played before the teams come out so I probably miss the lap of the pitch. Must get out earlier on Saturday.
  6. I go to every home game and had never noticed them before. So been there since Barnsley, that was in August?
  7. Just made 100 posts so can start a thread.................. (thanks! be gentle) Did anyone else notice the two people dressed as magpies outside the tunnel before the players came out for the first half? That is the first time I have seen that. Didn't like it one bit!! Makes us look like a League One club or something............... Maybe they have been there for a while but, I never spotted them before. Plus the return of the theme from Local Hero at the end......... Bow to popular opinion?
  8. The match in the FA Cup (1 - 5) is the only game I have ever left early from and I have watched some rubbish in my time as a newcastle supporter. I want us to thoroughly avenge that result with a clean sheet and a very strong performance from both the team and the fans.
  9. Born in Newcastle, now live in Gateshead.
  10. I can't see him being sacked but, I could see him walking if this rough treatment continues. In defence of the vast majority of Newcastle supporters who do not boo at every opportunity I genuinely feel that we have the foundation for something quite good here right now. we have an owner with pots of cash and something of a finity with the fans. We have a proven manager, albeit at a smaller club. We have an assembly of some decent players. Now all we need is it all to click into place. Sadly, due to the real craving for any sort of success up here, we have destroyed some really good players' confidences. Our current back four consists of Beye (ex captain of Marseille), Cacapa (ex captain of Lyon), Enrique (most promising left back out of Spain) and Faye (Strong proven centre back with Premiership pedigree). That back four should stand up against most front lines in the current Premier League but, they are playing so far within themselves due to the pressure being applied by the fans and media. If I were in their position I would welcome an injury to get me out of the melting pot that is St James's Park on a Saturday afternoon. Sam has to see what is happening before it is too late and shore everything up. The simplest way to do this short term is to play a simple 4 4 2 game with every player in a familiar position so that they know what they are doing. If your wide men are popping balls into the box, the forwards are going to knock a couple of those in, statistically it has to happen!! In midfield play your wide men on the correct flank, have a holding player and someone with some flair, we have a couple of each style player on our books, work on this in training to find the best partnership - bollocks to any premadonna who complains that they aren't a regular first choice. If they are not good enough they need to get over themselves and try to become the player that the club needs in order to get their chance. Up front we are blessed with some great talents who are not being given any sort of tangible service to deal with. There you go, the club is sorted, now lets go and win some games of football.
  11. It's a fact! If we, the fans, think that our team has given everything in a game we would cheer and support even if we were beaten. Remember the Arsenal match a couple of seasons back when we played them off the field but, got beat 0 - 1. The atmosphere was amazing that game. And back in 1997 (I think) when we humped Man Utd but, lost to a Cantana goal in the second half!! Great atmospheres, great times! The Liverpool game was THE worst I have seen and I have been going to watch Newcastle for many years!! Although I don't boo, I was gutted. That sort of performance takes a while to get over.
  12. I bet Martins is chuffed to bits....
  13. Just a thought, he seems to play quite well with Hesky.
  14. Offer ends on Friday this week, I have just done it and it is exactly as you see, as long as you cancel by 15th Jan 2008 they will not charge you a bean to watch the channel, apart from the £1. Fulham v Newcastle 15th December Man Utd v Newcastle 12th Jan
  15. I would love that to be true.

Just read the match report on nufc.com and the waffle section is absolutely spot on, particularly the last two paragraphs.
  17. My opinion is that as we are known as a sacking club and Big fat useless Sam knows that. He is making himself appear to be incompetant so that he gets sacked, paid off his contract and gets to take the now vacant England job. His team choice today was suspect but, his substitutions were laughable. Emre for Barton after a few minutes of the second half? Zog for Milner (Left winger on the left for a right winger to play out of position!) and then to cap it off take off a left back to replace him with an old, fat useless right back who is far from fit to face one of the quickest right wingers in the Premiership (Babble). Let him go and get someone like Moriniho in who does know what he is doing.
  18. Mine is out of the cupboard ready for tomorrow, plus it is going to be cold and wet so I'll need it to keep me neck warm.
  19. I don't know whether to laugh or cry....................
  20. Not sure whether it has been mentioned in this thread (although there is another thread devoted to the issue of Vogts calling the squad in early) yet as I haven't read it all but, just as Owen is being forced to sit it out with his current injury Berti Vogts has announced that he is calling his Nigerian squad together 2 weeks ahead of the African Cup of Nations meaning that Martins will be away from 4th Jan. That doesn't leave very much margin for Owen to recover and regain any fitness before he is needed for first team action again. UNLESS - we sign someone early in the transfer window.
  21. The Cure 1986 at Whitley Bay Ice Rink. Everyone looked like Robert Smith!!
  22. Slightly convenient that he now doesn't have to play against his beloved Liverpool. Also slightly depressing that he can get injured kicking a ball, that is what he trains to do day in day out...........
