Joelinton is fundamentally just not a good forward. He's not explosive, technically he's OK but not great, he shoots quite weakly. Sure he'd give loads of free kicks away by trying too hard as well. Don't do it.

I don’t think we could offer a new deal now until he comes back and plays well for a few months. Then it can be his reward. That said, if the club know better and think it can be sorted with a new deal, fair enough.

It's not like it's close to the end of his contract either, this thing is a massive mess. If he was refusing to sign a new deal as he approached the end then fair enough, he could expect us to be forced to sell.

Think now the only option is to keep Isak and try to look for a veteran striker who isn't first choice at their current club to replace Wilson. Get a little more out of Osula. Can't see us getting an elite level striker that would allow Isak to leave. Things like signing Wolves' first choice striker seem crazy, they would be basically accepting a relegation battle.

If Solanke is 20th best striker in the world then I must be about 32nd.

People became obsessed with those Howe quotes and took them way too literally. Every manager wants players in ASAP but the transfer window rarely works like that outside of the massive clubs with infinite money. It was silly to judge our dealings based on that.
