Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed
AyeDubbleYoo replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
In way it's like some of our previous transfers. A guy who has dipped a little after being highly rated, has a high ceiling if he can be trained and guided. Sure it's just a coincidence that Eddie Howe has his mobile number. -

I love Pope but that video just shows how much attacking threat we're missing out on when he's playing. -
Aye I’m really glad I have the blue one now, it’s lovely once you see it up close.

Think it’s decent and also shows a nice quick pivot after we missed out on Trafford. Helped by the fact Eddie probably has his personal phone number and didn’t need the actual recruitment team to make it happen Have always rated him quite highly although admittedly was concerned about that thing he said about concentration. Ultimately he’s a good keeper. -

Just a 90 minute video of him concentrating IMO. -

We’re strengthening the squad? -
Also positioning etc, look at how DCL went ham for goals when Ancellotti told him to just stand on the 6 yard line and kick it

I don't think you could describe getting Sesko in as underwhelming though, for me it would be very exciting. It doesn't mean he's currently as good as Isak, but all things considered.
-
Who would you be looking at to feel happier? FWIW I think we need 2 forwards, Wissa would be ideal since he's experienced and proven in the PL.
-
I really like Jackson's awareness and link play, just don't see him as your main goalscorer at the moment.
-
Getting both? Fantastic, would turn the window around instantly.

Apart from being the wrong colour and the wrong shape it’s clearly inspired by the bridge.

What’s the alternative to players we know or players we’ve monitored? Random players we don’t know about? I feel like it’s a problem with the exec structure and that we haven’t established the bigger structure we need since our first 3 big exec appointments have failed (Gardener/Eales/Mitch). When the full system is in place I assume we’ll see a better ability to execute on the right deals. We might also need to adjust our ambitions if we constantly get outbid by other clubs. -
I’m certainly assuming we’ll sign a midfielder.

Flog Pope when? Not this summer. -
I'm not sure I really buy our position weakening as time goes on, it's not like we're desperate to sell him. I get the player power argument but it's not often a single player is such a valuable asset to an organisation like Isak is for us. Also, unless we have a replacement lined up then we'll have a disastrous season and miss out on millions in prize money etc, so that has to be factored in. FWIW I would believe that we could reintegrate him if he stays, although it would take time.
-
I think it's pretty healthy, we just can't get anyone to join.
-
Hmm, I don't think you can really assume he's going to be injured all the time. Certainly you can't build your squad with that assumption because he still takes up a place and still needs to be paid. I wouldn't go too crazy over a tight groin in pre-season.
-
Less than I though, fair enough.
-
For me the most important thing is having a top-level replacement first, we really need 2 strikers ready to sign before he can go. Sesko and Wissa would do the job. I don't want to sell him into the PL but it seems like Liverpool is the only interested party. So either he stays or he goes there. FWIW I think we could rehabilitate him if he stays but you'd still need Wissa in because it might take the first month or 2 of the season to get him ready.

Jackson's wages would be way out of our scope anyway you'd think.
