  1. Nah, I think we're just dead against bowing to player demands when they've just had a pay rise. I get the feeling this was driven by the club in order to make Tiote's position more secure, and to reward him for a brilliant season. Bit different to the Carroll situation IMO. Its not really, giving the player more money to ward off any interest they might have in leaving either way. Whether they asked for it or its given really doesnt mean much. In one situation we were offered 35m, thats the only difference. Yeah, but what I mean is that the reasons behind the move are different, and so is Mike Ashley's reaction likely to be. If a 20 year-old kid with six months experience comes and demands a second pay rise in a couple of months, Ashley is likely to tell him to whistle for it. On the other hand, offering our most valuable player a new deal on terms the club is happy with is a very sensible thing to do.
  2. Makes perfect sense, we all know how our confidence has been damaged by some of Ashley's crazy decisions. It's no surprise that the players want extra reassurances that we're moving in the right direction.

  4. If we qualify for Europe on a regular basis while being run financially how Ashley wants, I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to stick around TBH. Anyway, back to
  5. Can we stick this on the end of every thread?
  6. Tiote is definitely more important than Enrique, in as much as a top holding midfielder is much more important than any fullback. Would love to see Jose sign on the dotted line ASAP though, although as people have said he seems like he wants to either wait until we're safe or beyond that to see if we're buying anyone. Still, tying up Tiote like this will encourage the other players to sign too.
  7. Breath held until Enrique does the same, coming soon I reckon!
  8. You're right, let's just continue to be depressed about everything that may or may not happen in the future, no matter what news actually comes out in the meantime.
  9. Yeah, I went to a couple, can't remember the game now though.
  10. Allardyce hadn't had enough time to destroy the football ethos at the club by the time that first game came round. He worked hard to put that right in the following months. Can't believe anyone can doubt how shite Allardyce was, that season still makes me angry to this day. What an absolute mong of a man.
  11. The puma one is pretty bad quality, but I like the design. The previous adidas one was also terrible IMO.
  12. Good that he can train wearing it, but if we keep playing like we are now I wouldn't rush him back into the team.
  13. Could it have been this game? http://www.sheffieldwednesdayprogrammes.co.uk/view_prog.php?progID=33117 Yep 99% sure as it was a mid week game as well. Hmm, apparently that one was 1-0 to Newcastle so I'm not sure. And in 88/89 we lost 1-3, so I've no idea what I'm talking about now!

  15. I think I might have been at this one too, was it at home? Think by this time I was actually enjoying going.
  16. I think you're right, the Pav mistake was more comedy than anything else, think he dropped quite a weak shot over his goal line. The fact it didn't get lambasted suggests we won!
  17. Was that pre kk when sheff wed got promoted ? I was at that game and I think we won. Possibly, I've honestly no idea what year it was even. I guess I was about 8-10, so that would put in in the range '90-'92.
  18. I fell asleep before half time at my first game, I really wasn't into football but my Dad took me. I think it was a 3-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, or maybe a 3-1 win, can't remember! Seem to remember Pav dropping a clanger for one of the goals we conceded... again might not be true though.
  19. I wasn't suggesting you suggested that. I was just suggesting that the suggestion that advertising costs were a consideration for Mike Ashley is a suggestion too far.
