Yeah, Guthrie is definitely one who needs an intensive diet and training and regime, unless he has some sort of condition we don't know about he should definitely be much fitter.

Yeah, he's basically a very good footballer who would be even better if he was more athletic and mobile. I do think there are signs that he's been working on his fitness though, definitely looks better in recent weeks.

The BBC will definitely give him a second series if he carries on like this.

I agree, I basically can't dislike Smith because I know he's putting everything into the game. He's poor, and he's impetuous in challenges, but if every player had his heart then football would be a better game. Also, I feel slightly sorry for him that Fergie ruined his career by trying to turn him into the new Roy Keane.

It's difficult to stop though, isn't it? Unless you have thousands of stewards, the only way is to actually make it physically impossible to reach the pitch... which would involve dangerous barriers and fences that we don't really want to see.

I was a certified hater in the early part of the season, but I'm warming to him more and more. I don't like watching him 90% of the time either really, and I still don't think he's fit enough to play CM in the Premier League. But if we put Tiote alongside him and don't expect too much of him defensively, he delivers enough through leadership, spirit and goals to justify his place. (Also, all our other midfielders are rank)

Was very happy with him today, although I'm still mystified how he can't actually kick a football properly. Maybe partly because he's already expended so much energy before he gets his cross/shot off.

Smith wasn't great while he was on, but didn't do anything catastrophic. I'd give him about a 6.5.

Massively harsh that. How? I don't think it was a massive mistake, I think he did well to save a good shot coming through bodies, and was really unlucky where it bounced.
