Many people at work seem to think Man Utd have done this to get him to play well til the end of the season, then move him on in the summer now his value is protected. Don't buy it myself.

I always thought SWP gets far too much criticism, not sure why it is either. Whenever I've seen him he's looked decent and lively.

I really want to write a computer program that would beat Lawro, it would be interesting to see how it would do with simple rules (i.e. predict a two-goal win to any big team at home). Or just roll a dice.

He's way above any player we have a realistic chance of signing. Those potential risks are the only reason he's with us, it's pointless to moan about them.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Grow up. Fix up. Look sharp. -
Well obviously not, but it would be a short forum if we only talked about things we can control. The forum is very much split on this subject so how would it affect it? Just saying we cant control it and discussing it wont make it happen. Fair enough, I slightly missed the point of your post. What I meant was that I'm very surprised to see people (on here and in the wider world/press) talking about replacements for Hughton as if it's something that might or should happen.

Was Shearer's injury not muscle/ligament based though? Recovery from broken bones is almost purely psychological - the actual bones themselves are just as strong as before. There'll be a bit of muscle wastage from lack of activity, but that should soon return when he starts proper training. We're right to be cautious about his return, but if it was a choice between signing him while injured and letting him go, I would personally take a risk.

I really don't understand why anyone is even talking about replacing Hughton at this stage, it's absolute madness. He's built a dressing room of players that are all pulling together to keep us up. We might not agree with all of his selections, but he's very limited by the pool of players he has to work with. By all accounts, his signings have been pretty good and addressed some of our weaknesses. It's criminal to be thinking of changing our manager at this point... do we want to go back to the circus of recent years?

I had no idea what that meant. -
I don't see how anyone can argue that an employee should be forced to stay with an employer after his contract has expired. The problem is the massive transfer fees - but that's the fault of the clubs, not the players.

Don't think Drogba would be interested in swapping to Man Utd.
-
I just want him to go to City because of the massive reaction it would cause... it would be class.

Definite sitcom material this. -
Nah, I do agree with you there. Many businesses make losses that are absorbed by the owners until they are profitable. Suppose there are a few questions - whether in a competitive sport we want a level playing field, and whether Chelsea is just an exception based on the fact they happened to achieve league titles quickly and can charge a small fortune for tickets. I can't imagine Man City ever making themselves sustainable - would they not need to win the League every year? Football isn't just a business... financial success/resources is directly related to success in the sport. This makes it questionable whether we want to allow random teams such an advantage because they happen to be lucky enough to have a rich owner? And how long do we let the losses continue?
-
It's not a 'market' in the traditional sense though, is it really? The forces in it (i.e. the clubs) are unsustainable businesses that are being propped up by mega-rich owners. In a normal marketplace they would have had to control wages or would have gone bust. This is why allowing a few clubs to operate at massive losses is so unfair on the rest.

I wouldn't say it's 100% though, not with Fat Mike in-charge. True, I was thinking that as I wrote it. Also just want to say that I love your use of punctuation neesy, the apostrophe, capital letter and hyphen can do magical things in your hands!

There is absolutely no way Joe Kinnear is coming anywhere near NUFC, what a load of bollocks.

They'll just be a white square with Sports Direct printed too close to the edges.
