He really is immense and calm and I also notice he likes the odd forward sortie which might result in 2/3 goals a season once he settles. He got forward quite a bit at the World Cup.

Barry has generally always been pretty average IMO. To a lesser extent Milner too, who is vastly overrated at the moment. Gerrard isn't playing that well and Lampard is injured... but I still don't think Capello will go for Barton.

Turned into trouble a couple of times today, but I'm guessing that will go as he adjusts to the pace of the league. Overall very impressive again, and has liberated the rest of the team a lot.

They must be a nightmare to play against. Combined with Nolan popping up in the box it's a handful for any defence. Two proper Geordies up front as well, that's pretty rare.

To be fair to Ashley, presumably he appointed Hughton partly because he thought he would always be happy with these short-term deals. Another bit of naivety from the fat man. Sure they'll be able to come to a compromise though, even offering CH an improved deal will be much less expensive and risky than looking for someone else.

Agreed, never thought I'd say that though! Still think he shouldn't be written off long term... he can improve IMO.
