  1. No offence to any individual, but I do find it a bit funny that 'glory hunters' that came on board during the 1st Keegan era are now being repaid with so much pain. Not sure why, it affects me as well
  2. I don't think Martins lacks commitment at all, in fact he's one of the few players who seem to have some affection for the club. The problem is that for a variety of reasons (inconsistency, form, confidence, club turmoil etc) he has never produced on the pitch. Therefore I can't bring myself to be sorry he's going. He's probably in my top few personal favourite toon players, but there's nobody I'd be really sorry to see go at the moment.
  3. The mackems might actually be quite potent with Bent, Campbell and Jones.
  4. If there's one thing we learned from Ashley replacing Shepherd, that's it.
  5. Also, Shearer probably doesn't want a rolling contract now when he might be booted out by the new owners. I would love to see it, but it's not realistic.
  6. If we had stability we would likely have already sold a lot of our players surely? TBH, there's not one player at the club I would shed a tear over at the moment. There's a couple who have done alright, but if they want out then so be it... they've been involved in one of the worst periods in our recent history, there's no reason to rate any of them very highly.
  7. I'm not looking forward to it at all really, seems it's going to be largely pain. If we get a takeover sorted it might be a bit better, but even then we're running out of time to do anything about the appalling playing staff.
  8. You might be technically right there, but that's because everyone else has been terrible surely? He hasn't actually achieved much for us, has he?
  9. Cliche ridden. Maybe, but the only bit of that that's not true is that he doesn't score a screamer once in every 10 games... it's much rarer than that. What do you disagree with?
  10. Once in every ten games would be an improvement.
  11. I'm sorry he's in pain as well, but like others have said it didn't depress me to see him like that. We all face death sometime, and all we can ask is that it's with a smile on our faces after a life we can be proud to look back on. What Sir Bobby has achieved in his life is fantastic, and he clearly has the love of thousands of people... can't ask for much more than that IMO.
  12. I've almost reached the same point as oldtype, there's just nothing to get into at the moment. I imagine when the season starts I'll just start following as usual, but at the moment I'm just trying to forget about the whole thing.
  13. Not sure, at times it seems a blessing to support someone like Spurs who will always just plod along... and not give you any heart attacks.
  14. At the moment it's awful... can't see how anyone can argue otherwise. In recent times though, it's been great - we've had some brilliant times that clubs like Spurs have come nowhere near.
  15. Aye, respect to Hughton, he seems to genuinely want to do a good job. I've kind of forgotten that there's any prospect of Shearer being manager now... the takeover just seems too far off at the moment.
  16. Are we talking about the January window, because there doesn't seem to be anyone to conduct transfers at the moment
  17. I'm pretty sure it has black and white stripes, have another look.
  18. Eh? Surely the patch is just to put a name and number on, and make it more visible? I doubt Ashley's fiendish master plan is to put a white patch on the back of our shirts
  19. Don't why everyone is so obsessed with the patch, FFS it's a bit of white on the back of the shirt... what's the big deal?
  20. Good point, I'll remember that when I make my selections!
  21. Spurs should do quite well, it was their awful start to the season that did for them last year, if they can avoid that they should come in the opt 6 or 7 easily. Liverpool are very good but do rely on their two star players... Gerrard in particular. Arsenal have class but not sure they can put it together consistently enough yet.
  22. "I know we're a shite club, and that's not something we can affect"
  23. My god, Shola will become a good player soon? Why did nobody mention this before!
  24. If I was a Galaxy fan I would be angry as well, but I'd hope that I'd realise where my club is in the grand scheme of things, and where Beckham is. The way I see it, he's made an error by joining Galaxy so soon and he's trying to rectify it. You might say he's selfish, and he probably is, but you only get on career.
