My only worry is how many players we might have signed if Barton hadn't been injured. That would have revealed more about the intentions of the club long-term. I suspect we might have ended up with just Taylor, which is worrying.

The squad is reasonably small, but the team isn't bad considering the injuries. The only way is up with regards to injuries, so I'm still fairly confident we will stay up. Oba coming back is obviously key. With Oba and Carroll up front R Taylor could be a very big player for us... it's been ages since we've had anyone who could deliver a set piece.

I just don't believe everyone would get off Ashley's back if we had added Johnson to the signings we made. Johnson and Bent, and Veloso, then we're talking.
