  1. You're not going to get into any individual arguments eh, just write off anyone who doesn't share your viewpoint? Excellent discussion board that would make. The OP is just so ridiculous I don't know where to start TBH. Why on earth would anyone want to argue against 'the consensus on the street?'. You've got me there, obviously if a lot of other people believe something I have to go along with it even if I disagree! Jesus wept.
  2. That's spot on basically, he looked to be the perfect owner and I still don't want to let go of that. I think he can get things back on track... the principles are all sound. And now he knows about how explosive fan reaction can be!
  3. But what if my belief is that the protests will be harmful and futile? Then surely I would be sticking to my principles much more by not attending? To be honest I'm not bothered if I come across as one of those people that 'boil your piss' or not, my reasons for thinking the protest is a bad idea are clear. Another example, shared by NUSC it seems, of the basic assumption that everyone must want Ashley out. I'm not staying away from protesting because I want Ashley out but think the protest won't work. I'm staying away because I want to give him a chance to make things work. Where are you getting the idea they think EVERYONE wants Ashley out? I don't mean literally every single person, what I mean is a lot of people assume that it's the only sensible viewpoint. I've got this impression from listening to the NUSC meeting and many responses I've read on this forum. I don't think I'm wrong on this one. They have repeatedly asked for dialogue and engagement with Ashley. The reported from the Mirror also commented how the club don't even reply to press e mails. It's no longer an Ashley out one agenda organization. It has to be realistic and open to ideas to work. That is why it is growing. Mistakes are always made and they have owned up to their mistakes which imo is a good sign. Fair enough, we'll have to agree to disagree, don't want to go over the same argument yet again. To me any move towards reconciliation seems to be token at best. Why say you want communication, then get some, then still organise a protest rally?

  6. Not sure about this, it might worth just giving Hughton and Calderwood a go rather than brining in another outdated, past it manager who will need to be ousted at the end of the season. I don't think Hughton/Calderwood is tangibly worse than Kinnear in terms of keeping us up.
  7. They're suffering from the problem a lot of pressure groups face at the moment. In the heat of a crisis it seems a brilliant idea, but once the initial hysteria dies down most people are prepared to move on, where they just continue to look more and more desperate.
  8. Completely agree. Yes, people have 'the right' to protest, whatever that really means - but that doesn't mean we have to just accept their actions without criticism. IMO this rally is completely idiotic and the timing is horrible. We just got our first win for ages on the board, confidence might be on the up, the manager is in hospital awaiting critical surgery and the best we can do is hang around the monument providing the tabloids with more shit to print about Newcastle. Let's just hope not many people actually turn up.
  9. Aye, it's pretty serious stuff. TBH I feel bad even discussing a 'post-Kinnear' appointment at this point. Think we should lay off it until we know he's OK.
  10. I'm just hoping now that MA has decided that he can't/won't sell that he will pull out the stops for a proper manager. Only worry is he might not know who the proper managers are!
  11. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/7882800.stm What, that can't be right? Mike Ashley is trousering the clubs money and Shepherd was just out to spend his personal wealth on making us a success! Wasn't he?
  12. Does the transfer window not apply to U18s or something then?
  13. Truth. Can't see him coming back, at least not in time to have any meaningful impact on this season. Not sure what the club can do though, can't exactly replace a contracted manager when he's off sick. Suppose they could keep paying him and get someone else in as well.
  14. Jeez, all the best to Joe if he's having serious surgery like that. Can't see him managing again if that is true, to be honest.
  15. Ideal people manager then!
  16. Completely agree with this, the decision over Kinnear is key at the end of the season. Until then we should just stop whinging on and let them try to sort things out.
  17. The faster Owen, and those of his kind are out of the club the better. We want young, hungry players with something to prove, not players relying on their reputation, and sitting on a mountain of cash. What, like Xisco? Yeah because he has really had a chance. Not his fault the deal was made in the way it was. Wise clearly thought he was good enough. For all we know he might be good enough, Kinnear might just not fancy him because he doesn't speak very good English yet.
  18. And people say we want communication from the club! They can't win either way. I don't give a shit about communication - all I wanted is some indication of intent to progress (or even not go down) - they comprenhensively failed to do that in January. If all you're going by is actions then fair enough, I'm not arguing that January was a massive success.
  19. Well obviously it won't be OK, but I thought we were talking about communication and all the quotes you highlighted? Nobody is happy with the current position of the club FFS, certainly not me. Difference is some of us aren't already planning suicide because of a bad few months... and we don't choose to rant on about an owner that is now here to stay.
  20. And people say we want communication from the club! They can't win either way.
  21. The changing circumstances are them fucking things up at every opportunity though. It's not chaos. A butterfly didn't flap it's wings in mackemland which led to a profit in the last two transfer windows and the threat of relegation. Even if that was true it would mean they weren't lying or misleading the fans at the time, so your original post would still be pointless. I don't disagree that they've made some fairly big mistakes BTW, I've never argued otherwise.
  22. Very little in that Happy Face post is actually contradictory and probably none of it is deliberately misleading. Most of it seems to just be changing circumstances and events (i.e. Sam leaving) that we don't know the details of and/or who had knowledge of it at various points.
  23. You've hit the nail on the head there, Bob. I've been saying that for months, there's very little they could have said that would have helped matters. Quite encouraged by those new articles, that's about as much as we could expect any club to reveal. What they say about getting the losses down and not running the club on credit is also very timely.
  24. And he agreed to leave, but no-one wants to buy the club, he would have sold it if they did, whats the point in telling him to do something he can't possibly do. I forgot they were formed after that which is a fair point and yes they probably can't be blamed if we go down but it does impact on the players when they know the fans aren't happy so they'll feel under more pressure and make more mistakes. I completely agree with you, I've said loads of times that I dislike NUSC and their current protests are completely futile and at worst harmful. Just saying they didn't organise the protests that erupted immediately after KK walked. Yes, I accept that now. I wish I'd gone to that bloody meeting now, was this mentioned at the meeting? There's an MP3 of the whole thing somewhere in another thread. I listened to the whole thing, got the impression that very few people who held our point of view spoke up, and those that did (argue against protests) were 'listened to' then ignored and the protest was arranged anyway. The whole premise of NUSC is wrong, it fundamentally doesn't allow or enable any other viewpoint.
