He wouldn't look out of place in any team in the Premiership really, I just hope their managers don't realise that any time soon. He seems to like the club and city though, which considering the time he joined us is a minor miracle. Also seems to have good mates around him in Colo and Jonas, which must help. Love him basically.

Yeah, I'm surprised how similar they are as well, Williamson seems an intelligent player, slightly more 'hoof it out' than Colo, but that's a good thing IMO. Interesting to see how he gets on against more top teams, and how having Tiote in midfield benefits the defence.

If you're worried about the club selling him to make some money, I don't think that will happen. Ashley will like the fact he's ready-made player that he doesn't have to splash out a transfer fee on. Hopefully he'll realise that it's false economy to sell a player like that. Obviously if he becomes world-class he might eventually have to look elsewhere... unless we develop at the same time of course.

True, sometimes there isn't any point in crossing it in. I liked the fact that he was delaying a bit and allowing Perch to get forward later in the game... hopefully we'll see some more of that.

I'd like to see us get through and for some of the younger lads to get a run out... most importantly though we need to protect the players we don't have backup for... so the likes of Enrique, Colo, Williamson and Carroll should definitely not play.

I'd almost forgotten about this thread after today.

We all know how bad it is when a club is judged by a small minority of the fans, so I don't hold any grudge towards Villa really. The best thing was being able to get our new Premiership season started with that kind of performance and result after going down against Villa with a gutless, embarrassing performance that was typical of us at the time.

I don't necessarily agree with 4-5-1, but I can understand why he goes for it in a way. I've got a lot of time for CH, he's everything we haven't historically had much of around NUFC - knows the game inside out, quiet and understated, gets on with the job. Although part of it is probably because he's grateful for such a big job, he deserves a medal for the way he's handled himself during the Ashley regime.
