  1. Phew, can I calm down now then? (Still think every squad member should get one automatically though)
  2. Everyone in the first team squad should get a medal, I don't understand why they don't.

On FIFA he's pretty good, I say sign him up.
  4. I'm not shooting you down, but it would be rank management to drop Guthrie because Nolan is unfit. If Nolan can't hack it in the Premiership, leave him out until he can. I don't quite get what you mean, sorry? I'm sure Nolan must actually be match fit, surely he does the same training as everyone else? We won't know whether he can hack it until the season starts, and with form, ability, fitness and injury you adjust the team accordingly, as Hughton has done this season, however I would be happier seeing Nolan start next season than Guthrie, as things stand of course. I mean if Nolan is considered not mobile and athletic enough, then he should be the one that loses his place. Not Guthrie so that Nolan can get someone to carry him. I know the team is more important than individuals, but personally I'd rather see Nolan dropped to motivate him to improve his fitness. Yes, he must do the same training. Problem is, you don't just 'do' training and get benefits. We've all seen it in sports teams, some people go through the motions in training and others bust a gut and work extra hard. Combine that with off the field drinking/eating etc and you get a huge range of fitness levels between players.

  6. Don't think Harper could ever be described as a liability, that's immensely harsh. Half the time people are saying he should be in the England squad FFS. He's a decent Premiership keeper, not the best but by no means the worst. Also, I would vote yes because the money for a new keeper would be much better spent elsewhere on the team.
  7. We really need the next Benayoun, not the current one! Not sure if we have any scouts though...
  8. They probably were, to get fit they would have had to drop it though, you're right. There's a lot of calories in 6 pints of lager.
  9. They're still wrangling with Tesco about planning, they won't proceed with the demolition until everything is agreed with what is going in its place. I'll be sad to see it go, would rather have seen it refurbished and made part of the new developments. Will be good to see some shops actually worth going to in the heed though, might help liven up the town centre a bit. town centre is a hole, and i wouldn't dare even go for a piss in the pubs Can't argue with that, but it will get better. Just as in all big cities, the real centre (Newcastle) becomes too expensive and the surrounding areas become more acceptable. I love Gateshead FWIW, lots of places nicer than people realise. It's mainly the town centre that lets it down IMO.
  10. This is one of the things that surprises me most about him, but also gives me hope that he can get properly fit. He's not that old and with some serious training he could get himself ready for a season in the premiership. Even the likes of David Dunn and Andy Reid have put in some serious work and look fitter and stronger. Although they're always injured, but that's a different issue.
  11. Would quite enjoy Villa overtaking them, though I'm not sure why. The reliance on Gerrard (who sometimes doesn't turn up) and Torres (who is brilliant but injury prone) is a suicidal approach to building a squad. Why Juventus are so keen on Benny is beyond me.
  12. Bit of bollocks about unrealistic expectations and some slight bullshit about Ashley being good, but otherwise that's a pretty sensible article IMO. There's a lot of praise for the club and Hughton in there.
  13. I hope you're wrong as well, but unfortunately I can see this happening. If Ashley needs to sign one player, it's a mobile central midfielder. Hughton just needs to show him last season's DVD to get him to sign the cheque... the abusing the centrebacks got was embarrassing.
  14. You couldn't be more wrong, sorry, Lampard is at the heart of almost every Chelsea attack.
  15. To be honest I'm not looking forward to much, it's going to be a hard season and week after week we'll have to watch the ridiculous festival of diving, cheating, whinging etc that is the Premier League. Missing the Football League Show will be great though, it's awful. Being able to talk to people about the football again will be nice, I only know fans of Arsenal and Spurs it seems!
  16. Another reason why I am going to say this again. Once the league is wrapped up give him a bash in a holding midfield role! His passing is superb, his flamboyancy won't be punished so hard and his defensive presence will protect the back four. Wouldn't mind seeing that, only concern is his pace, could really do with someone properly mobile in there. Not part of our squad at the moment I know!
  17. Listened on the radio, I didn't here his name once that I can remember.
  18. Freaking awesome player this season, if he can keep it up in the Premiership it'll be incredible how much he's improved.

  20. Don't really understand the criticism, a lot of people thought we would struggle this season. Pre-season we were all expected a real battle and we were tired of hearing how tough the Championship was to get out of. We also had a team with no spirit or organisation and that was leaking goals all over the place. With a totally unproven manager to boot. Happy to admit I thought we wouldn't get promoted, happier to be proved wrong.
  21. The size of that ground is mental... they were obviously following the Field of Dreams model with it - "build it and they will come". Good to see Gateshead's plans are a bit more modest.
  22. There's one at about 22.10 and then another about 5 mins after. The first one is about half hour quicker though. Will probably be a bit of a scramble. I am having to stay overnight now. I needed to get that 22.10 train as I needed to get back to Liverpool Street for the last train at 11.30. Didn't think I would have any chance of making it to Reading station for 22.10 as I read on another website it takes about 15 mins on the bus to get from stadium to station. Significantly more than that after a game I would say, the traffic and queue for park and ride can be a reet pain.
  23. Not sure about the slightly shocked seahorse peering into your face mind.
  24. Saw Steed Malbranque on Northumberland St the other day, he looked depressed.
