It very weird to have such a negative bitter atmosphere around signing a proven quality player. People Have transfer window fever.

That’s class. I went to Palmeiras and I was very surprised by the pace and athleticism of their game. It was actually not what I expected from Brazilians. But like was mentioned on that video, there’s a bit of an identity crisis happening. I guess toughness and grit are also important elements of the culture, as well as freedom of expression in the right circumstances. Players like Bruno, Joelinton and Richarlison would demonstrate that. Would love to see more Fluminense type teams. Always thought that lower league and amateur teams should compress the pitch like that because playing over larger spaces is so wasteful. But maybe that’s because I grew up playing only small sided football.

I would describe it as low risk, a bit different to solid. He’s a very good player and you know he’s very good. Maybe that’s why some people aren’t as excited. Either way it’s a great signing and we should all be jumping in a soapy transfer bath.

Of course you don’t build everything around the coach, if you’re going to change style completely with the next guy. But we were a disaster of a club from top to bottom, we’ve brought in a coach and executives above him to build a club philosophy. I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t get rid of Howe and bring in someone who plays completely differently. Not sure why I’m writing this since it’s just one transfer

Don’t really see why people would dislike him. He is what he is. An OK keeper who you don’t expect to play much. Every club needs a couple.

Personally think it’s much better to match all the patches to the colour, including sponsor and crest. Not every time, but it’s a nice design touch IMO.

I don't see much in him, lots of energy but very random and runs everywhere for little gain. Maybe could be coached obvs, but I was hoping we wouldn't buy him. He is only 23.

FWIW in his highlights Barnes beats a man plenty of times. Not in the way that ASM does of course, but he goes past defenders all the time.

Think it’s just selling Maxi has people a little rattled. If we’d just announced this transfer alone I think people would be 99% stoked about it.

I can’t decide whether he’s overrated or over criticised TBH. Probably both by different people. Sad to see him go but we’ll move on very quickly once the season starts. Who knows about FFP or whether we just wanted him out. Again, probably a bit of both. Always sad to see a maverick attacker not fulfil his potential.
