The first one was hit quite early and with a decoy runner on the outside, wasn’t an easy save. Second one was more Thiaw’s fault IMO, for getting drawn too far inside onto the wrong man. I don’t particularly love Pope nowadays but I don’t think he did that much wrong.

The force field you get when you have a yellow card is laughable really. Just judge every offence on its merits FFS, if someone makes two bookable offences they go. It’s quite easy.

Really we shouldn’t be in the same league as Man City with the resources they have. Every one of their subs would start every game for us and the gulf in technical ability is absolutely crazy. We worked hard to make it close but the deck is absolutely stacked against us. The fact commentary makes no mention of this is mental to me.

If he’d played Gordon through for an equaliser I would’ve said it was a decent-ish performance. Always produces at least one big moment which he fucks up, which isn’t helping him.

Fair point, not sure it was going in but only saw it once.

I never back Barnes when we’re chasing a game or against defenders with any real quality. More often that not he looks like a kid playing with adults and can’t do anything.

Not sure what else he’s meant to do mind, since we can never play a ball to him or keep the ball long enough for him to make an attacking run. At least he’s closing people down.

I always find it really depressing that we have to bring on people like Barnes and Murphy who we know won’t be able to make a difference in this kind of game. That’s the difference in the two squads I suppose.
