Manchester City 2-1 Newcastle United (21/02/26) | post-match from pg. 47

That’s not physically possible is it? -
The force field you get when you have a yellow card is laughable really. Just judge every offence on its merits FFS, if someone makes two bookable offences they go. It’s quite easy.
-
True but irrelevant to the comparison between us and Man City.
-
Incredibly weak referees, as usually sadly.
-
Really we shouldn’t be in the same league as Man City with the resources they have. Every one of their subs would start every game for us and the gulf in technical ability is absolutely crazy. We worked hard to make it close but the deck is absolutely stacked against us. The fact commentary makes no mention of this is mental to me.

If he’d played Gordon through for an equaliser I would’ve said it was a decent-ish performance. Always produces at least one big moment which he fucks up, which isn’t helping him.

But the game has almost no structure because we generally only have the ball for seconds and we’re chasing around after Man City. -

Fair point, not sure it was going in but only saw it once. -

I never back Barnes when we’re chasing a game or against defenders with any real quality. More often that not he looks like a kid playing with adults and can’t do anything. -

Not sure what else he’s meant to do mind, since we can never play a ball to him or keep the ball long enough for him to make an attacking run. At least he’s closing people down. -

I always find it really depressing that we have to bring on people like Barnes and Murphy who we know won’t be able to make a difference in this kind of game. That’s the difference in the two squads I suppose. -

Played one great ball for that Gordon break. -
Love to see Martinez getting absolutely done.
-
Not too much, don’t know how much he’s played. Saw him get a couple of great assists recently though.
-
Hate to think what you post about people you don’t like

Basically nobody ever does this. -
Delap looks class every time I see him play, weird situation. If he’d come here he’d be on 10+ goals and looking at a World Cup spot.
-
Guess Wissa was on the list for if Isak stayed as well.
-
He'll always be a forward, we're just looking for a way to use his attributes while we continue with our fast pressing game with Gordon.
-
I hope Nick will be able to play some games as a striker as well still, especially if we are trying to play less of an end-to-end style of play. Hopefully this spell deeper will help him to link up with the wingers and CMs better.
-
Always the way. See Eni Aluko, you can think she’s an idiot and also think she has suffered prejudice and dislike older white men lecturing her.
-
It’s not a new crest design FFS, it’s just something someone knocked up for a pin badge. I think.
-
Except Murphy I would say all our wingers are more like wide forwards, have always thought that. I think Gordon was really good at certain points at RW, twisting and turning, bringing his defender short and spinning in behind. But obviously he went off the boil. The starting position is pretty important as well, wide v narrow etc. Also depends to what extent we want/can move the ball around and hold onto it while people make runs and stuff too.

Wonder if Joelinton might get the nod for enforcer duties if fit.
