We already seem committed to BDB,schar, lacelles, kraft and trips and possibly Murphy never getting a fee back for them. They were all bought for relatively low fees but will need replacing and all you saved were their wages. Still hoping some of the under 21/under 19 purchased we started to make last few years some make it to plug the holes.

Agreed even our good older players we need to decide how many just stay here forever and we recoup no fee. Barnes 28 Joelinton 29 - 30 in August Bruno 28 All young lads but in footballing terms you start reducing the transfer fee you can get based on their ages. We all know we cant keep everyone but becoming better sellers and knowing when to sell is something the club haven't quite learned.

Even if it is its a niggle in a long line of issues hes had another where rest is whats been ordered over injection or operation (no idea if its got a surgical fix) that has/is keeping him out for alot longer than needing a little rest (Its been "upgraded" to no return date). Hes a fab player but its general frustration is he ever going to get back to his best and deserve a bumper new deal.

Back with the squad following what feels like 2 years out doesn't sound like hes ready to give us any minutes. If it wasn't for defensive injuries I would have had him down as one to finally go in the January.

Not seen it think the quote doing the rounds is he agreed with most of it but disagreed we were a mess

Todays presser trips kraft lascelles and BDB all fucked

Agreed while probably not accurate the rumours all point to young, abroad, sub 30m and can play in more than one position. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/geruechte/verein/762 Feel like to me the season is slipping away or at risk of the issue with young lads from abroad how long will Eddie leave them out of his thoughts to learn the Eddie way even way back when Bruno had 8 games? out of the starting lineup. Saying that we can't afford and shouldn't target prem proven elanga is a shining example that even players from this league can take a period to settle (still praying thats all there is the matter)
-
We have to sign a full back in January ideally someone who can do either side if A Murphy isnt it I don't think it can wait till the summer. By the summer Targett gone, Trips likely gone kraft maybe gone and BDB final year. Still loads of games to play second half of the season.

Wish we had some available defenders to rotate more livra and thiaw could do with a break especially considering tino came back from injury and has then had to keep being asked to go again and again.
-
No idea how accurate but a decent skim read from what I can tell. https://learning.coachesvoice.com/cv/eddie-howe-newcastle-bournemouth-tactics/

Be interesting to see if osula is peddled what calibre of striker is recruited now that may boil down to the fee we get but if its something more than a development player type we could see more changes how we form the attack. I know hes been asked before and eddie is adamant there is more to us than 433 but he just seems married to it at this point.

Depends no Europe but close i.e top 7 but 5th don't get champions league then no he gets time. If we finish 10th say and no where near and going back to 1 game a week still dont help I would worry giving him funds to try again but would also have to involve who we can attract manager wise as a replacement. Issue with having a long term manager its now Eddie's squad we cant afford to derail the project if thats what we are at this point to rip it up and start again.

Also agree here as well Thiaw has been great. Ramsey not shown enough to be a longstaff upgrade yet cant seem to displace anyone. Elanga replaced no one as miggy went the previous window i didn't expect him to be better than purple season Murphy but at best hes been a rotation body at best. Ramsdale better than dubs? Maybe but not enough to challenge pope. Big nick isnt as good as rat lad was for us and being so different comes with risk and opportunity depending how you see it but not working as it stands. Wissa better than Wilson well you have to be fit and available to know. Harsh but so far we have no clue. Alot of money spent without much instant leap in quality. The belief the squad was good enough the better players just needed rotation options maybe will turn out to be a mistake. Instead of upgrading and pushing the current 11 player into the rotation/backup position.
-
Agreed and most have some mitigation attached to them. Greek keeper but was forced upon us? Chris wood didn't suit or work for us but recouped most of the money back? Ramsdale not the keeper solution it seems but missed our top target and loan with an option means its salvageable? Ramsey so far not 40m player but if its to upgrade longstaff on that comparison may turn out good buy? Elanga so far what have we done springs to mind young and prem experience but looking like we are going to see our first big flop.
-
The reported fee of 16/20m which is a good chunk of money for a keeper who doesn't seem to be clear no1 despite how poor pope has been should also be a nail in the coffin for keeping him.

Was thinking the same (prove me wrong lads) but it was tried last season and never see.ed to work.

I think you build a squad to compete in your league, as we have seen with certain leagues being strong/dominant within your own league doesn't always translate to being good in wider European competitions but that doesn't mean the squad they have are bad. Any team can give another team a go on their given day as well we see that in our own domestic league/cups, sometimes the manager and tactics used against a side can be the "X" factor that stacks the odds in an opponents team favour. Can see why the topic can appear to be arrogant I don't think we are quite there yet to say we are better than anyone else flat out but on paper the cost of our assembled squad as one metric only would say we should be. It doesn't always work that way though and we know this.
-
Cheers saves me having to watch it in terms of the midfielders is it an either or scenario or both? I assume if willock goes we need another body if sandro leaves we need a higher calibre player than squad option. I woulf be gutted if tino left so young such a high ceiling only part really lacking is crossing. I wonder what sort of fee he would attract? Will it depend on if he goes to the world cup and how he performs i wonder.

See Lovejoys post on this page assume it's come from the hope interview special posted behind mail+

I haven't seen it mate but I know leading up to the summer window he went on and on about players not liking how the project was going and the landscape being different than maybe what they were sold. We needed Europe to keep our best players etc I can see a world where he could go no idea who would pay the fee needed though as he cost us a canny amount. Not getting europe come the end of the season could leave some unhappy players I guess we deal with it if it happens.
-
I know its his job but I hope the tonali thing is to shit stir. Yes good players want to be playing in europe and back to back champions league finishes isn't looking good right now but other than that I hope we can hold onto him for a couple of years still.
-
So we thinking January then in the hope less competition than the summer? Not opposed to strengthening in January especially if they can make a difference/impact second half of the season.
-
Its not bullshit though you can literally see it coming a mile away. We win by a couple of goals the banter/retort back will simply be its our first season back in the prem and they have spent 500m+ putting that squad together. I just want a professional display where we don't get complacent I am not expecting to blow them away like in the cup where the quality gap in players was too much.
-
To be fair how many "local lads" are still getting regular mins? Honest question as paid no attention to them to know if its all been the signings playing they may not quite grasp the occasion. Still agree with the point we can't half arse this at all and expect anything but a beating.
