Still not convincing me at the minute so frustrated when Isak slipped him through.
-
Understandably rusty here didn't have total control of the ball or that pure acceleration we know and love. Drawing a foul was on point though. First game back with little preseason so best is yet to come.
-
Longstaff trying to squeeze through to add his 2 penneth worth class although glad we stopped the boiling over and set reset ourselves emotionally
-
Felt sorry for him was being pulled all over that first half but the early yellow was no doubt hampering him.
-
Playing like there is someone waiting in the wings to take his place long may this version of him continue.
-
I obviously am so bias towards our players but he runs a qtr of the pitch to basically body check schar for no reason other than going to collect the ball and then has a go at schar. I personally think as the ref had blown for the foul already the southampton player should have seen red. Glad for all the possession they got what they deserved nothing.

Reading way or should that be watching too much into what Howe said in the presser was happy with how our free flowing scoring was but must do better in defence. Also said aim was try and get miggy back to his self from 2 years ago. To me that seems they happy we score enough but conceded too much so if we only going for 1 more player I can see why the club think it's a defender.

Unfortunately while not for us to worry about spending this big has a consequence to it, be it not strengthening the wing, having to sell more players to comply with the financial regs etc we are cash rich but PSR poor. For me it's already too much based on what I saw if it was like the old days of spending without thought than yes fuck it spend to provide the tools the manager wants and if he doesn't work it doesn't work. What I don't want to hear from the club in January or summer window is " we over stretched ourselves to provide the squad the manager needed we now need to sell player X"
-
Don't want us to be spending this level of money on a CB which unlike strikers is surely easy to find a top talent albeit not with prem experience. However every transfer is a gamble and you have to trust the club if this signing is the difference between say champions league football or not he would nearly pay for himself. Off topic but what has happened to Alex Murphy? Never seem to see him mentioned.

Think missing out on the Tosin deal looks to have been more impactful on transfer plans than first thought
-
Agreed but difficult to say for certain when we aren't privy to all the info all the leaks have been them wanting 65+ then the BBC I think mentioned 70m this morning. Piecing together our rumoured opening bid was sub 50m and we have gone up in small increments (all aledgedly of course) it seems like this was a lost cause. The fact they getting offers for other players means I can understand from palace prospective other than him having 2 years left on his deal there isn't a big motivator.

First Mitchell failure? To spend so much time on a deal where the other party have no desire to sell? Let's hope there is a back up plan/list
-
Alot of defenders out of contract next summer, of which wrong side of 30 and won't all get extensions, assume club will hope for some form of Europe next season and it brings age if squad down and plans for future. Technically dummet and Richie were released both used in defense and would we sell targett still? We are padding and improving competition for places and narrowing drop off from starting 11. Saying all that still desperate for the RW to come in mind. St

Agreed it's not just that look at how many are in their last year of their contract can't keep kicking the can down the road with year long extensions so gonna have to bite the bullet eventually. Still see the fear if total budget left is 60m then for it to all go in on a defender and leave the wing alone is also a risk itself with potentially the top 8 being more competitive than ever.

Think the role is wider than that when trippier first joined he was in the leadership group and was here to welcome the new players obviously with trippier and dan burn not gaurenteed to start every game and Wilson injured Bruno is willing likely get games wearing the armband.
-
Don't think it's been directly outlined but to me it's player to player liaison you go to them if you have an issue, they speak for the group, they throw and arm around those who need support or kick arse if someone needs a reality check. Making players more accountable, also the current group would also appear to be ones likely to be given the armband on match day.
-
My guess would be more favourable terms as in player going their way or more money up front.
-
Sorry if the point already been put better by someone else but I do worry if money is tight and offers for players going out is limited I can in a way why they would prioritise the defence, The back line a year older 2 players are going to miss a massive chunk of the season and statistically despite the limits on the right wing including a long term injury to murphy and a chunk missed by almiron we scored record numbers but shipped so many goals. I can see why a management team looking objectively could argue enhancing the back line now especially as 4 of them are out of contract by next summer to go for that rather than the wing if having to chose which to go for. Ideally If we did only have 60/70/80m to split the money over the 2 positions would improve the two obvious issues we need instead but I guess they know best and we know the market doesn't work in ideal scenarios Hopefully there is money for both and its just that it wont be massive money being spent on the other position.
-
So he's the Anderson replacement isn't he? 😅soon to be 21 and not really known as a big goal scorer but lots of other attributes.
-
Did I imagine it but didn't Howe say in a recent interview end of the year when referring to Botman. As long as he comes back the player we signed it takes as long as it needs no mistakes this time.

Quick Google says investigation ongoing and allowed to play in the meantime. Harshest punishment is a lifetime ban which reports say west ham would fight in court if that was to be punishment. Think the rumours about him going back to Brazil on loan to keep on playing ended when they started to say the investigation may take a while. Hard to write off 50m+.
-
Seems like close to and bid reports for West ham.havent gone through yet but they have already made money on outgoings https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379

Still hurts my head this so appreciate the actual or amateur accountants here. If in this financial year 3 or 4 more sponsorship partners are announced namely training kit and training ground start effectively this season does that mean it goes into the accounts this year for this summer and Jan transfers or is income reported next year and would help next summer?
-
I want to panic as we now have a "team" of goal keepers to show for the summer really not counting Hall spitefully as he was ours last year. However the fact Mitchell is meant to be more transfer focused an the near miss of sanctions, I can see why they want to see his ideas of where we look. The fact Eddie still needs to study and review these players to sign off on them delays things slower. If this is it for the window it's poor very poor as players get a year older and we didn't have the best of times for player availability. However I would rather sign a Mitchell and Howe approved player then to say we bought someone if this takes longer then we have to hold our nerve. Even if I need the rush of a new player especially one impacting the starting 11 directly.
-
Agreed especially based on what howe expects from the player he isn't afraid to leave them out. Hopefully abit like with Tino it's not a like for like replacement we are not looking for a 5 to 10 year younger schar but someone with qualities to work in a system and with the players we have on the books.
