It was the deer in headlights instances for me he was given the ball and placed his foot on it not knowing what to do or where to go. It had to be a confidence thing as Arsenal particularly in the first half they were coming at us in waves but being so slow to try and break out of our own third was suicide.

FFP having bite and putting ceilings on teams may have been a factor here much like most clubs there is a limit to what can be done. As much as I hate it the commercial reach of man u does mean he has more scope to play with. Also while he is a project building sort of role he seems to be happy to jump ship. Guess we won't ever find out can't imagine it's just a case of we want you Dan and will pay you more over here.

What happens if they walk away do we still bin him off and leave him on gardening leave and replace him?

Already had the manger say "no war chest" no idea what the fugure will be but expecting more player sales the fact that we so far haven't extended players with contracts ending in the summer then depending on which competition we in Europe wise if any we in for a mini rebuild. My guess based on nothing would be 70/80m plus player sales.

Top sides learn how to win ugly or edge out tight games. Far too many times we havent seen games out or been too rash to go forward. While I was frustrated with the passing back all the time. I guess we were just so spoilt at times especially last season it wasn't a classic but banking 3 points and still being in the Europe position mix is all that really matters I guess.

While others adapted to that tweaked system he seemed to struggle not being played in by trippier constantly. The passing was also poor as was his tracking back/defensive wor. We are gonna need him for the rest of the season so fingers crossed it was just a bad day at the office for him.

Actually saying Europe league should be the goal or champions league is just what we want to hear. Don't let the season fizzle out. The guy just has so much desire and hunger to leave it all out there on the pitch. Was all over the place coming in deep on the wing, advanced forward. Not giving in to Wilson screaming for the ball for his second is a sign of the lads confidence in his own abilities.

Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season
nufcjmc replied to InspectorCoarse's topic in Football
Agreed although playing devil's advocate Murphy has played recently and while I hope in the match day squad fit to start it may be that they wanting to manage his minutes due to length he was out. I would have changed it just to try and utilise the squad with the benefit of the 5 subs and now having a few genuine options but we clearly don't know how much the squad is suffering knocks. -
Aware up top on your own can be difficult but he has looked so poor compared to his "peak" last season. Hope it's just rust and injuries disrupting his rhythm.

The issue is more out win,out fight, out run and be relentless it's how Howe likes to play and we can do it but not for the full 90 meaning if we aren't infront before the other team dominates/comes back in it we simply run out of steam (alot of late goals conceded too late on when we havent been able to build up more than a 1 goal cushion) or struggle to get back in it. Even last season the back 5 were great but we went up in numbers and defended in numbers then countered quickly and hounded for every ball even lost causes. It needs everyone to give it there all attacking and defending and is energy sapping. If your shattered due to playing all the time you either run out if steam by 50/60mins or you subconsciously give 80% and not empty the tanks to last longer as you know no sub is coming to relieve you. This approach has made on paper poorer players look so good last season but sub par at times this season. Delighted with the break and even 1 attacking option on the bench and botman returning has shown signs we can do Newcastle of last season again.

No evidence to suggest this is the case just me hypothesising maybe he needs surgery to fully get over the niggles but we reluctant to do it as we cannot lose the player for that long. Issue is if we ain't doing surgery he needs more rest we simply cannot give him either. Shame as we just started to see 85%/90%/95% Isak and another set back for him to potentially over come he cannot get a good run going.

The yellow for Gordan seemed non contact compared to the shoulder barge /arm throw trippier got in head and neck.
-
Did their defender hit his knee or his meat and two veg for the goal? too busy celebrating to see replay.
-
Pissed me off on the commentary I listened to that they were banging on about how lucky we were with the second as it just "bounced back" off the cross bar without acknowledging how clean a hit it was. Didn't quite work out for him today, but could have easily had a few. What he does for the team beyond that is just incredible just couldn't see this coming when he was playing last year.
-
I mean this isn't last season and we aren't liverpool BUT they went from something like 9th and the finished 5th. It's not impossible but why not believe? Why not try? Do I think we will do it probably not but we already done some amazing things under this ownership so never count us out.
-
Wonder if Bailey starts over Diaby it's a completely different game but we won so zero shits given. Gotta keep it going now Saturday is just as important. Go back to last year's philosophy one game at a time and see where it leads us.
-
The fella beside longstaff either seems photoshopped in or trying to squeeze through a tiny gap.
-
The walking wounded race who makes it back first Isak? Barnes?Wilson? and more importantly will we ever get all 3 fit at the same time before the end of the season?
-
He didn't get booked and kept a cool head despite being kicked all over the place. Didn't always go right for him but he's always just so willing to receive the ball any where on the pitch and just pops up everywhere.
-
Pound for pound best defender/ball carrier/ knock taker/ shit house merchant I have ever witnessed in a Newcastle shirt. Only regret is the fella ain't 23/24 still.
-
Some of those tackles and interceptions in the first half particularly. I don't know why but always panic when they try and play out the back through him but he always seems to prove me wrong. Still would prefer Tino but proves at times in certain games he deserves to be starting.

Does anyone know how lucrative being in charge of our own store is likely to be not a finance expert but wondered what sort of money other bigger clubs bring in from their shops not just shirts. Stupid question as well in terms the adidas stuff do we buy things off them and retain a retail % element or does most of it go back to adidas as shirt sponsor?
-
Agreed he and the club are good at saying one thing and doing another or at the very least keeping cards close to their chests. I can understand if its true we want to keep them he wouldn't want to affect squad harmony by saying publicly they can go with the clubs blessing only for a sale not to happen and the player to not feel valued. I also understand saying this player or that player is free to leave maybe takes away some the leverage if we are still currently negotiating with a potential buying club. I know the club cannot win here we want news and info and no comment is frustrating to hear as the media will fill the blanks just sometimes it feels like we are standing still or hanging on injured players coming back to "save" our season. A new player or two could be the boost the squad needs.
-
so publicly Howe is saying we want to keep everyone and that may be true for this window but unfortunately they going to have to get used to selling players even ones they still had "plans" for not always going to be the surplus to requirement lot, update appears quite grim to be honest.

They either have been told summer is gonna be a big rebuild and are looking after themselves at first opportunity or we got some unhappy players. That or media bullshit
