Sounds like iam arguing with own point in the defence of longstaff but get Howe's point Miley is Willocks planned sub as Willock has been away so long he can't last the 90 and Anderson is also incapable of more than a cameo so unless he throws Joe White in or Lewis Hall he cannot really win here I guess. He could do Bruno/longstaff and Miley and use Willock and Anderson as impact subs but we would be crying out for Willock to start as we know them as a 3 doesn't work.

Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season
nufcjmc replied to InspectorCoarse's topic in Football
I am not sure I like using the word "nice" but I agree when it's all going your way it's very hard in press conferences to pick fault as Eddie is a master of deflection. The performances have been so poor for so long now it's hard to justify we just want to focus on the next game now. The wheels haven't totally come off yet but it's good he's been pressed more as the results haven't been good enough. More worrying the performances have also been largely poor you can't brush that off forever as the lads are trying their best. -
He was a wheel in a cog due to a good engine last season covering alot of ground and allowing the better players to do their thing. He has settled between passenger and liability this season not sure I get Howe saying he needs to play more to look better the exact opposite is happening. Even last season he got into such good areas and was totally ineffective in front of goal I wanted him replaced. I really hope Tonali coming back and Miley see him drop of the managers plans next season. From the presser we aren't going to make major changes so going to have to spread the money but he is trying single handedly to highlight midfield as a weakness area which sadly his selling fee right now wouldn't resolve.

If we have a similar budget of 100m plus player sales I cannot see us spunking 60 to 80m on Toney especially as even if Wilson goes its likely to be sub 20m for him especially after this season it's more likely around 10/12m

I've been conditioned already when I see this bumped I don't instantly think talking how good he is but news he's injured again
-
Not probably saying anything new here I guess turn of pace isn't there but stamina and conditioning must be through the roof his heat maps regularly see him all over the place and it feels like he has played every minute this season. Also this isn't a criticism of say Gordan but he doesn't need to knock it forward and get into a foot race with anyone his close control is top notch he will just go through you or spin around you. While the number of cards maybe doesn't paint this side of him very well but he is great at drawing a foul out of people knowing when to shield the ball and offer the body up to draw a foul is a particular skill itself. I know some will say if we cash in it allows a rebuild I just think what he has in spades isn't something you will get from many other players.

He wasn't the worst on the pitch tonight but I was fed up of him receiving the ball holding it thinking and thinking and thinking then just playing it backwards. When he did pass forward it was so slow the decision the advanced player had someone right up their arse and they lost the ball.
-
Off to the glue factory for you please not sure who needs a plodder in their side to pay any money for him unfortunately
-
Being dropped or at the very least has a risk of losing his place thanks to having bodies back will hopefully push him to his better version of himself. Being a garenteed stater with no one pushing and playing all the minutes certainly hasn't helped him this season.

I know it's only one mistake and he did well to cover for Botman but this is the reason for me if he goes in the summer I won't be missing him.
-
Some competition for his place would be nice to see after the summer what happened to Alex Murphy from preseason seems to has disappeared

Schar shocking best thing he did all game was the pen. Lads coming back Barnes particularly I am hoping it's match sharpness or keen to try and help the side a bit too much. For all the money in the squad there were times in that game it was hard to tell who was the prem side. Some big games coming up for the side last season when we were drawing alot of games we were told keep playing like that and the results will come right now we need to shed this current style and form as keep going and dropping out top 10 possible never mind European places. Trying to be excited to progress but been hard to see what feels like regression not just a poor run of form.

When we get a foul almost putting our arms around the ball/shielding/smothering the ball to stop the risk of the foul not being given and drawing a break away. Pulling up socks to waste time when going down. That arm throw by schar in the arsenal game sort of wasn't seen so it's kind of still there. Dont remember the game but caught on camera Murphy hanging around the other teams technical area when they were making a sub to hear if any tactic change is another one. We aren't as intensive as we once were last season some of the shithousing wasn't to see out tight games it was to allow micro breaks to talk to the gaffer, take on water and have a micro break less need when we don't seem to push ourselves as much. Slightly off topic for the subject but still think the team has learned as a bad habit not to empty the tank as for months we ain't had much in the way of subs. I truly believe some players were going to 75/80% as they knew they would have to see out 100min game.
