It could bring in 200 or 250 million so as long as we dont fuck it up like we did the summer its chance to rebuild. I get making too many first 11 changes is risky and the optics around having your best players taken off you can send the wrong sort of message. However we have to trade better and its just a fact that your more likely to have interest in your better players than the dross thats surplus. If the mentioned players dont see their future with us I am not keen begging them to stay. Let's just hope if good offers that the club would accept dont come in they dont throw their toys out the pram.

Nope just struggling with a knee injury I think it was he picked up while on internationals. Likely/hopefully his last season with us having had yearly extensions more than once now.
-
His little wander into the middle to then walk into a villa player and give up possession was comical at best.
-
Think the quote I saw assume after the game was that the gaffer wanted his numbers up. Assume in metrics point of view as well as attacking contributions. Was it his ball for the willock offside? He definitely had a good game combative in the duel while also being attack minded. Still not sure of his tracking back when we are getting pressed in the second half willock and him both not busting a gut to get back. Celebration maybe was just a culmination of the feeling of "finally arriving" it wasnt our biggest outlay in the summer by a long shot but assume he will have wanted more than being villas rotation option to our rotation option.

I honestly don't, but yes old champions league format we were out by middle of December the win against Sunderland in the cup in the Jan sent us on a bit of a upward trajectory in terms of results which I assume was linked to improved injuries and no longer playing twice a week. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/spielplan/verein/762/saison_id/2023 got dicey for Howe in the December few back to back prem loses, out of champions league trying to win against AC Milan instead of holding for the draw which I think would have been enough to us getting knocked down into the europa and then I think trips mistake against chelsea in the cup ultimately losing to Chelsea on pens in the qtr final.

I definitely feel for you it does seem that when the players get injured its big injuries, using the same site its a lot of red hospital squares: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/ausfallzeiten/verein/148 In theory it can in a strange way benefit a team galvanise a group of players siege mentality us vs the world etc when you have a small group to work with. But it does come down to squad harmony and if that's there to instil that sort of ethos. I don't know enough about your squad to know who your leaders are and who the team will rally around when it maybe cant come from a manager who has been there 5 mins. The manager has been dealt a bad hand definitely as they want to try and move forward and what they want to do is hindered by who is available I guess the hope is you limp to the end of the season and rebuild again hopefully in the prem (seriously I just don't see you getting relegated)

hurts my eyes following this but it seemed like we just didnt have rotation options in that season only 11 fit senior players to go again and again is my recollection of that season: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/ausfallzeiten/verein/762?reldata=GB1%262023 and while we werent top with the number of players out that year it was the number of days lost that was the biggest killer everyone who got injured it was never an impact rest and recovery type injury: taken from here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cq55wy2qx21o

Agreed his two best chances just before half time where botman? saved popes bacon and the bicycle kick was goal bound had it not been blocked. Showed while the team weren't feeding him enough he was able to create threatening moments regardless.

I like the rolling back the seasons with these last few performances. I think I said a while ago him not being sold and having an up turn in form is a win win if it means we get a "howe ready player " and his transfer fee or likely number of suitors goes up. However I still feel its best for him to move on get a fee and reinvest. Too many injury issues 27 next year and the midfield likely needing some reinvestment/freshness. Coupled with his best coming from regular game time which I feel he would struggle to get in our best midfield 3 consistently.
-
It was refreshing particularly the first half that we saw more of the player we got when he first joined. Used as our creative outlet from coming out of the back and alot less backwards and sideways passes from him. Some of the attacking pass attempts were causing all sorts of headaches for them. Even if the crosses into the box didn't always work it still can cause chaos. I also preferred him taken off corners for elanga and bruno.
-
Only thing I found frustrating was him going down too easy I get drawing a foul is part of the game but it was clear the ref wasnt going to side in his favour he should have tried to stay on his feet. Much like trips in the first half while spurs were all over the place he played really well a mixture of crosses, lay offs and trying to move in centrally with the ball was good to see. Trying to blaze past someone hugging the touchline isnt always going to work.

Assume nothing new in terms of tangible info?

Other than how well we treated him before than ban I guess if I remove the Newcastle is the center of my football universe and I only thought if it as a job in any other industry you can like where you work and your colleagues but still move for opportunities. Got to think he isnt tied to the area at all and while he can try and hit any career goals with us we know right now the task is much less likely here than some other clubs. If he goes and we get a pile of money and its not a shit show played out in the media then I guess we have to accept it. Rather keep him but if its one of Bruno or tonali that need to go to rework the not all firing midfield the younger more valuable asset is tonali but Bruno just seems to get us and the area.
-
What I hope he meant albeit hasnt landed well for a window we had no signings and risks in not making any signings in is that the ground work on deals any change to strategy/direction they now want to go in has been finalised. Possibly although unlikely that some pre-summer deals have been sorted so we can get some lads in early. Being ready to act if the right deal came around similar to the names Craig no Hope mentioned and Eddie alluded to the ones for the future that didnt happen. Kevin Danois, Kees Smit (seemed a quick non starter once more than 1 club showed interest and fee became 45/50m) and Luciano Valente were all mentioned early on (possibly had willock went) and Dayann Methalie LCB/LB before he got that knee injury.
-
I think unfortunately for the club the presumption was that the summer window despite its challenges would be enough and gambled on the lack of wiggle room to "save them" come the winter window. Eddie effectively said that when asked again about lack of Jan signings that the business we did was to take us through to the following summer. Issue is it hasn't gone well the forward line has stuttered and the back line has had medium/longer term injury issues meaning we have needed that boost/help Edwards and probably a lot of fans feel we need but unable to do so. Do we blame them for keeping their promise of spending every penny they could? well I guess if it leaves you with no options and wiggle room I guess it isn't a good thing or at the very least leaves you with the down side of no where to turn (loans are expensive and Eddie dont like them so not like that is a viable option).
-
I mean he doesn't need anyone on the inside to speculate that to be fair. Ramsdale doesn't sign need a new challenger to pope or new number 1. Targett released come summer so no backup to Lewis hall. Replacement to schar if he doesn't stay. Replacement for willock. That's a minimum not discounting tino or tonali going also needing to be replaced or if osula goes thats if you accept our current striker options in the hope they both better in their second seasons with us. Alot of work the desire to do business early will be there but players may well want to wait until after the World Cup.
-
As I have said to some Sunderland friends its been a great welcome surprise and I am sure we would be had we been in their shoes. Better players will likely be poached so it will be how they hold the side together while trying to swap out core members. If they can continue to improve they could "do a forest"
-
Hes not injured but "doesn't feel well within his own body" to train with the group (apologies i am paraphrasing as cant be bothered to find the quote). Basically not up to helping the side despite thiaw having to go again and again with schar out till april/may. Doesn't sound like hes capable of getting back to the right levels to help in anyway so not sure how much loss he can be classed as being.
-
We arent ever going to know if hes turned down what's been proposed/offered if anything at all I guess. He likes telling us little value in Jan, small pool of players who can possibly improve us and has to be the right deal. Seeking that just right deal is admirable but in of itself a gamble based on our lack of fit senior defenders and the fixture congestion coupled with stuttering consistency he cant work out yet.
-
Has it been confirmed its gone through? Plus on the pitch hes been as useful to the side as targett has this season so points neutral unless we getting excited saving his wage.
-
Not losing anyone plus 1 point. Securing botman even if its to hold his value rather than wait till the summer where he may have not signed plus 1 point. Not at least publically confirming any of the older out of contract players have automatically gotten extensions plus 1 point. Not boosting the first 11 squad in order to try and make up the 7 points we are now behind champions league spots minus 2 points. Not boosting wider squad to help with rotation which means flogging Lewis hall or playing BDB there who is also meant to be botmans competition /rotation minus 3 points. Deciding to stand still in the hope it will all still work out minus 1 point. So minus 3 points.

Patrick Zabi set to sign for Paris FC next season

While I agree with this to a point the "better" PL clubs also have the financial capabilities to do so. What I mean is certain teams can afford to let clubs develop gems and then take them off them as they can afford to pay the premium on the more developed player. I don't think we are financially capable of doing so we have a lot of players to buy and a lot of older players to replace who won't bring in any fee or very little fee that means your money needs to stretch further. We aren't at the stage in our development as a side where we need 1 new first team addition a season to freshen things up we still need work in a few key areas (how many areas need improvement is open for debate). I think the strategy needs to be a mixture some cheaper gambles and a smaller key signings to bring immediate impact so far I don't think we have that balance right yet/to date.
-
they were saving the training ground announcement but Craig no Hope leaked it weeks ago
-
I mean who needs him? who can afford him? and how much would we want for him? All important after the rat shit having 3 years left with our option to extend doesnt mean we hold all the cards if he asks to move on I am not sure we can risk going against his wishes and forcing him to stay. On his day he is up there with the best midfielders in the league the 100m sort but this season coupled with potentially his desire/wish to go how much would we actually get? 70m? did we pay 55m for him? its hardly earth shattering wiggle room.
