  1. This has happened before the lack of new information drives infinity style arguments that cannot be won or lost. Bit like when the takeover went silent the "void" was filled with something not going to say that something was worth while or pointless for risk of creating a new loop. The lack of tangible links and the realisation that we are still heavily restricted in what we do is at times a bit of a downer. Wasn't expecting the whole squad to go or be replaced but wanted the current starting 11 improved more than what we have. Time on our side and if clubs blink we may get 3 bodies in but then again we stand firm and go again in Jan and get none. Both have their merits but still feel we are a few injuries away from a crisis.
  2. Read a piece quoting Howe as saying loan market is fine but needs to be committed to the team and not someone who is hanging around for a short period. Loan with an option to buy would kick the cost down the road but get more quality bodies in hopefully. 1 player in and if we aren't going to be relegation fodder worries me as Amanda said they didn't like the winter window but needs must last time so in theory this recruitment now lasts till summer.
  3. So if he means 1 player I would be underwhelmed seen as I would like 2 more possibly 3.
  4. There is a line under the topic regards "last post by" clicking that part takes you to the last reply. Nothing overly complicated.
  5. Click the topic title go to the last page at the top click on "just now"/ time of last reply then go to last post of page.. ...
  6. We are still very much at the early stage of rebuilding and as such suspensions or injuries in a few areas have us relying on sub-par players but I think that is the same for alot of sides in the league. We dont currently have the luxury of 100's of millions sitting on the bench waiting to change the game, improving the first 11 is the priority, just so much work to do due to how little we have improved the side over the years at all levels.
  7. While true we ain't penny pinching for no reason we obviously see the keeper position as a priority not because our current no1 is shit its the drop off in quality if he is suspended or injured. Too much of the squad needs big spends to go into window 2 of the new ownership and spend a ton on a keeper in a few windows we replace with a big money no1 a 10m fee has seen us through it won't be seen as a waste if we have no faith in our current backup keepers.
  8. It's like HTT of old so much so I ashamedly can't read it all as too tired.
  9. Not sure if it was on here or a Google search I read how deep and nieche sponsorship can be some clubs have sponsorship for official car, official male grooming, official post carrier etc. A sponsor for the ground, training kit, get into Europe and get an official flight partner even if the league presses the value down the lack of sponsors in an around the club due to shite direct does lend itself for a sudden cash injection regardless of suppression of the monetary deal. Could all the deals bring in 50/70m a season? Like others have said is that fair or not who knows.
  10. So how many sponsors are we now short on that are yet to be announced. Obviously sports direct went but I assume most of our commercial sponsorships are yet to arrive due in part to the leagues "fair value" messing.
  11. Heavily subsidised loans are more likely just to get them off the books is more likely than sales while it doesn't help much towards balancing the books the club unlike previously don't need the funds literally and are aware of how limited some of the lads are hampered by either ability or too good of a contract to walk away on.
  12. Think I have worded it poorly but the season we finished 5th was that the one we only got Anita in as "this squad finished 5th". Not giving credit for any sort of strategy but more excuse making. What if we brought forward 2 windows worth of spending in Jan to keep us in the league it may well indicate a modest budget for the coming window. Would love to drop 30/60 million on every position going forward but the reality the squad still needs a massive overhaul. The dead wood we do have are unlikely to go for much money meaning we are mainly relying on cash injections from sponsorship and the owners. Still let the good times roll
  13. My worry if claims are true which not sure they are but a limited budget may mean the ownership have fallen into what ashley did on a few occasions that we finished where we did with only half a season with the new Jan signings and no Eddie for the full season and still had amazing stats so don't need to do much to better that. This logic while seems to make sense has bitten us on the arse a few times. Push out dead wood upgrade as many positions as possible as the league never sits still. I think I heard he won't mention the target for the coming season us that because this season was survival and next mid table which we have already managed. Iam going to give the benefit of the doubt and have to just wait and see.
  14. We all know you can blow 400+ million and get no where fast just have to look at Everton. Wise and continual improvement in areas needed and getting rid of aging and none performer's is how you build a squad with a boat load of luck mixed in.
  15. You don't reverse 14 years of poor/non existent footballing management on and off the field over night, have mistakes been made? yes of course there has been mistakes and with a high level of media scrutiny there has a lot been written about the club and every choice or inaction they take. The issue is when everything is a priority and it all needs doing now its hard as you need positions filling both on and off the field in nearly every area. I am sure the owners want to be seen as leaving "no stone unturned" but that takes time and this season we don't really have it in spades. If we were safe but not doing so well we could all probably say to ourselves write the season off its next summer that's important due to the timing of the take over but we are likely down without some strong, swift and immediate action. The fact we are 3 weeks into the window and have no where near what we need to kick on or likely survive is likely to cause people to be annoyed/panic etc. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt but hold my final judgement for the end of the window as the season doesn't end Feb 1st if we do go down I would hold the ownership partly to blame as while they haven't been involved in the years that have gone on before they are the only ones that can have an effect on our season i.e. manager, spending etc.
  16. I can appreciate nerves as no clue on budget or numbers we are hoping to get also I worry about our ability to win games without new additions.
  17. Rich enough to have more than one club and plow money in
  18. it simply could go either way if we were in a better league position then I would expect to see limited spending as Jan window doesnt hold as good of a value as the summer. They also dont want to be lumbered with players by making rash decisions on fees/contract length as it will strangle the clubs transfer windows in the near future due to FFP. Not sure how much clubs expect to lose by dropping into the championship but if it were to set us back 60-100m I can see them being happy spending that much as its a calculated risk. We may just spend massively in the loan market as a compromise not because we are skint or operating on a shoe string but because we get a higher calibre of player potentially but not the big contracts as our league status is under threat. That or loan with an obligation to buy on the back of us staying up. As others have said its exciting as normally we expect nothing and usually get nothing or are haggling over a few million loan fees, for once we need players in and will be active in the window.
  19. I hope the keeper situation can wait and hope its mainly down to how poor the defence is in front of him adding to the pressure/errors etc a new back 4 with a new central midfield player and a back up striker (ok so thats me asking for 6) would hopefully assist in dragging the poor squad along and making up for its deficiencies.
  20. I suppose the priority argument comes down to the fact for squad balance etc we wont be getting a new 11 in a single window if we only signed say 5 players which 6 positions would you be more happy/comfortable about leaving with the current squad. Although factoring in some need shipping or unregistering in order to free up squad places.
  21. We arent going to have a squad full of 30/40/50m players in every position (yet) but we all know most of the squad need to go so we need to "pad" the team out with younger not playing every week players especially as we appear to be linked to alot of older more seasoned players they arent going to exactly be around very long. We havent given them a window or two yet to see how they want to play this while we do need immediate impact this window we also need to try and replace what we can when the right deals come up.
  22. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle, the sound bites we got at the beginning was slow build, within FFP, long term project. Of course she has said money is available so guessing at this point if we were to spend every single window and while we maybe do set an initial budget we possibly wont be afraid to go over that for the right player/deal this is still light years ahead of where we ever were with Ashley. No one knows at this point if the current position we are are in makes them think well dropping out of the league hurts us 100m so we will spend that in the hope of staying up or we wheel and deal as best we can and plan for staying up or going down for next season. I think they should acknowledge with our current position and infrastructure you cant buy your way to being an elite club as easy as it was in previous take overs due to 1 how far behind we are in every department and 2 sticking to the current FFP rules. While we may be willing to chuck money at the problem academy, facilities, padding out of staff, improvements in every department may take a few years and in that time may not make an immediate impact with on the field stuff.
  23. We may on paper have a massive potential spend but until players start getting bids made on them and more importantly sign we dont know how lavish our spending will be. The very fact we could go down could see us spend out right very little we could offer massive fees just to loan the unobtainable or make signings deemed short term fixes on short contracts which could be snapped up relatively cheaply. Do I think we will spend yes I do, do I think it will be 100's of millions well no cannot see it personally if this was the summer and we knew we were still in a league 100m+ easy but right now its very unlikely as I cannot see a 30/40/50/60m player wanting to play in the championship for a season which is a distinct possibility.
  24. think I read in the mail he is currently out injured with a shoulder injury until Jan lets hope that timescale is accurate as we need match fit bodies ASAP
