Guess it would depend if turning 27 in the next few weeks would take him out of consideration we have no idea if Mitchell will seek to bring the age profile down and target under 23s or if its deal specific.

If this is a comment after the game while it's his job to handle the press i do feel for him. Right after a defeat and right when things arent going right. He's right in that buying ready made guaranteed to get you goals Premier league goals is hard to come by and those with known form are a fortune. Issue is something needs to be done especially if the table stabilises and we aren't there to grab the opportunity. I still feel a creative right winger helps so much if they too feel comfortable playing across the front three or up top it's another variable/switch that can be made tactically bot not essential. Wilson or isak middle, gordan stays where he's proved to be most effective all those moving about and combinations haven't worked outside of a single game. Our front 3 are just not working while the cheapest option is to back what we have to hit form and put it right it's unlikely to happen based on how far into the season we are now and no one has hit their peak and kept it.

Agreed about the element of riding a positive wave has now seemingly died off. This would stretch back to before the summer window with the injuries, failing to qualify for Europe etc. Right now we could do with artificially or not creating that positivity again either on the field with performances and cup run or off the field through lucrative sponsors, stadium, training ground development etc the fact that so far the club when asked have been prickly about the sponsor thing is a worry as like others have said sign a short term 2 year deal and least it helps in the here and now. Unless they 100% sure any sponsorships soon can have a few more zeros on it seems to be another anker holding us back.
-
I mean if we recruited long term tino you would hope it's because some of his weaknesses can be developed or that longer term the RW picks up the creative element. Tino can still defend, receive the ball in tight spaces and get us up the pitch riding challenges and staying on his feet. Most of us love him although annoying the lack of that final cross or pass is lacking. I particularly get mad when he's in and around the opposition box he won't shoot although clearly isn't his game. He isn't going to get you the level of assist trips will but still think that element if recruited well can come from the winger instead.
-
Sell to buy is the other line coming out so trips and miggy go there may be some wiggle room for a signing if we don't peddle someone then it's loans/youth or no one.
-
Possibly would as Tino seems to be good at driving up the pitch and then goes backwards and is reluctant to cross. If we have a creative right winger then that stops playing people out of position on the right and stops Tino having to be that creative force he doesn't appear to be. If we have a valid threat on the right it also means we can fully utilise both wing play and stops us being easy to mark as it wouldn't all be coming from one side. Obviously asking alot of the right winger but we have been desperate for something different and think that does that. The short term alternative is Trips comes in for more games which if he does want away then I guess that isn't an option.

The league and us in general are not good enough to go unbeaten so losses and peaks and lows in the season are to be expected. While I agree that some things are hot takes or heat of the moment opinions. However this isn't a poor one off performance where we didn't show up as has been expressed the lack of variety in our attacking play, the lack of goals, the lack of form from our big players and struggling to identify a consistent starting 11 are all fair and obvious criticism. We had poor games last season we hoped the only mitigation was the injuries we are now only botman away from having our strongest squad available to select but we have been found wanting for large periods of games. The lack of a window, aging players, players we want gone and can't sell the psr headache are a shame but I certainly feel we should be doing better with what we have available.
-
No way a bad signing but feel like we getting to the point a midfielder needs to be peddled to stop the "how do you fit them all in conundrum" maybe secretly Bruno was meant to go and sandro takes over never going to know how that ban switched the club's prospective on how he would be utilised and the squad has now evolved passed his original purpose. Lack of europe doesn't help with squad rotation when you have an abundance in midfield and only play 3.
-
No offence but peddle that shit in the interview at the next club "missed a fair few games" is an understatement
-
unfortunately the press are already doing the line of PSR tight, sell to buy etc etc so not expecting the saviour to come from the transfer market despite glaring issues with Schar not having a stella season and a need for a proper right wing. While also new signings can offer the team a boost part of the issues is lack of form from our top players and Howe not having a settled first 11. He can go on and on about competition for places having lots to pick from in terms of midfield and front 3 combo's seems to be getting away from Howe. Adding in more players short term may be a further headache as we try and accommodate Barnes/big Joe/ Tonali in the side. The team that played last night at home we can all say should have been strong enough to win yes we have some sub par players in our squad but our squad currently only has Botman as a first 11 starter missing to pick from based on what the team can put out, against a side in poor form and yet for periods I couldn't see the quality players in the side from the dross. felt very deflated after yesterdays performance.
-
We are throwing him all over the pitch middle left right sometimes within a single half. I understand top players adapt and he says he's OK across all 3 of the front three but there is a aspect of his game that has gone. Taking on his defender marking him and bursting past linking with isak etc etc all seems to be off. Love his work rate and him as a pro but we need more from him on current showing he's gonna be no where near his goal or assist return.
-
Close control was awful and shooting was like I remember him to be, longstaff levels of shooting ability. Saying that West ham were really effective in that first half of being on top of him offering no space for him to do much.
-
Poor game and what's worse the limping and holding his hip. He seems the type to always play when fit and we have been lucky with his injury record but I think he plays too much. Issue is we aren't the same side without him hope it's just a precaution and he's OK
-
Thought he was shite and offered nothing no calmness at the back, no passing finesse, no stand out qualities what so ever. Not sure he is the player I saw in his highlights or that he's the type that needs a run of games which right now he's at least 3rd choice behind botman and burn you don't see him getting it done nothing to say burn slots straight back in.
-
Felt willock, Kelly and longstaff been poor here. Now they are ahead they don't need to come out and commit anymore so could be a tough second half.
-
Depends on if we got mind games from Howe. He said in the presser trips was ahead of Wilson and I think it was noted that Wilson hadn't trained with the group come Friday so would see if he did train would be shocked both make the bench.
-
The "generational talent" was getting up 70plus million wasn't he? 6 months less contract and not so great league performance i just don't know how heavy the discount would end up being. It is unlikely to be half price but the 40m or less is where my head would be. After that go for someone abroad 21-23 age and bed them in slower with schar as competition
-
Don't want him based on the likely fee and none england performances this season but can see why he would be mad keen.
-
If miggy finally goes or trips forces a move away it will force our hand to act more but certainly not expecting the "wrongs" of the summer to be righted it's the wrong window for massive changes really.
-
We did it to a small extent trips no brainer despite his age, BDB for his prem league experience, chris wood then the extensions offered to older players who performed. We just didn't permanently stick to that possibly due to PSR or an understanding writing off spends to get a good few years is unmaintainable.
-
Even a positive rule change to increase possible allowances or allow us a bumper stadium/training kit and training ground sponsor the money is a boost say it was somehow worth 100m more combined it would still be short term wealth. Especially if we bought more in the 40/50/60m bracket as they have a cost to your books year on year. Unless it completely goes away we just need to be smarter and like had been mentioned the Mitchell approach may well aid that more sustainable cycle type approach.
-
Issue is we got a tune out of players thought no longer good enough or bought older age profile players or kept hold of players as they aged. We aren't still at the stage where the first team just needs one quality edition each window to keep the squad fresh. We still need rebuilding either be in first 11 or the overall squad as a whole. Hard to be critical alot of issues stem from people not wanting to buy our players or PSR and has brought us relative to what we were massive success. Just feel like the next step/chapter is alot more difficult to navigate than the initial step after survival.
-
I like your optimism and maybe a big influx is coming due to the number out of contract but of those listed only 3 at best we get fees for. We won't have the budget to replace them all in one go with quality. I guess giving extensions to some gives us a chance for the youth lads we have brought in to come good or get sold for profits it's a hard balancing act.
-
I do get it and the club have already sowed that seed of difficult window/downturn in numbers of moves etc however if we go through Jan and not sign anyone of note we haven't upgraded the 1st 11 in 3 transfer windows which at best is stagnating. With the loss of kraft/unknown if trips stays/ if botman comes back firing etc we are a schar injury or suspension away from needing a kid in his place. I would rather wait for the right player to come along that fits medium to long term but hope the club have had now plenty of time to prepare for the window. If miggy does leave or trips I think that's 2 positions we need to buy to replace as well.
-
Agreed about the sentiment the ship has sailed for alot of them i.e. schar or BDB don't hold alot of value due to age and contract length but are good squad players and still can contribute. Still doesn't mean your not kicking the can down the road and once they tip into the realm of cheerleader status like Dummett got and just take up a squad place you then spend money on replacements. Not saying that either of those players are coming to that stage yet but it's will be on the horizon. Will hamper our progress somewhat as we look to replace these sort of players who may at that stage are bit part players which reduces the budget for the ready made first 11 additions. I guess you have to trust the club are well aware of this approach and have a plan.
