  1. I think Howe can and will make him better issue is compounded by the fact this season playing 2/3 games a week likely leaves little in the way of training time with the group, international breaks dont help as he travels away on duty too. Not making excuses for him hes been poor for the Financial outlay we had to pay in the end. We really need goals and assists coming from the wings right now its not clicking.
  2. Do we expect us to dip back into the transfer market this winter? I assume we still have funds but its never a good window to do business in but feel like we still need something a goal scoring midfielder would be ideal is osula goes a new 3rd choice? Will it be no one unless we get a serious long term injury? I guess it may depend if league form continues to stall or if we move on in the champions league. As you can probably tell I am really not sure. Hoping who we have step up and it becomes less of a need more just a bonus if something is there to get.
  3. We never narrowed down his position when here would he be competition with Bruno in the advanced role or tonali in the sitting role? He probably never wanted to go but may accept a club over us if they offer being first choice if he had of stayed and he was the rotation 20/25 starts a season that may have worked waiting for tonali to leave or bruno to potentially age out. Now hes had a taste of being first team first choice i am not sure he would want to go back to that. Right now him at his best still isn't as good as both ours at their best. Obviously if he's more of a Joelinton replacement/option have we already signed that getting Ramsey?

Very much agree with all of this my interpretation is that the rat was never playing for us again it felt like massively overpay on wissa or the rat goes or refuses to play until the jan window regardless so we do the wissa deal or have no one. As it turns out we will be without a full fit and fully integrated wissa likely until the Jan anyway. Nowt we can do but grumble and accept it still annoying though.
  5. Yeah can see it on my adidas app too much for me
  6. Impressive tonight need to see more of that for us he was involved in alot of good passages of play particular the first half.
  7. 5 year deal 2023 so has 3 years left I assume come the summer.
  8. Agreed the alternative is a conveyor belt of getting players who could step up from clubs where we take a chance and pay better than what they are on and they come and then move on within a contract cycle or two. Its going to be a constant issue likely for a number of years to come while revenues catch up. Even then once we do pay better wages its likely to never be without a structure or ceiling to it and there will always be clubs out there that will pay even more.
  9. Agreed think we may have to either pay up or shut up with some players. Will see what philosophy the sporting director brings. Howe is known rightly or wrongly never to want to lose from the group. The previous 2 seemed to want to bring our squad age down. You cant really do both. Eventually I think we will have to get closer to the 200k for some players not all of them will get the club and accept the less wages on offer here than some clubs. 260k when our current top wage is reportedly 130/150k seems a stretch in terms of believeability.
  10. Agreed filling up the time and pages on a quiet internationals break. Think its the newcastle world lads reporting Brazilian news outlets. Doesn't seem to be our immediate contractual concern with botman, tonali and which lads get another 1 year extension pope, kraft and Trips etc to do first. He signed a reported 5 year deal in 2023. If it was true 5 years with being 28 in November would put him here for most of the remainder of his career? Think hes spoken about going back to play in Brazil. Might be the man city interest was real and its to head that off?

I don't mind him and Craig no Hope they are certainly a step above from ryder. The disadvantage of media today is more platforms to fill "column" inches to. The good news is you can skip past shite and ignore it. That didn't need to be that long it was a minute video at best worth of information but its their job and if its what's required of them I guess I can't moan too much. Always the usual caveat inserted in all of it " my sources say" " my information as it stands right now" " things of course can change" may all be true of course just annoying its sometimes guess work dressed up and back trackable by the statements above.

Does he say that somewhere? Not doubting you but is that an extension/elaborated from the tweet that his priority is Newcastle and not afcon? Would interpret that to say he will do what he can for us and still go to afcon but its not about getting fit for that but fit for us?

I guess its the way some times its expressed that can be jarring for some. Opinion and debate and alternative view points are a reason I keep coming back all these years. Not every decision or choice the club makes turns to gold. Our hit rate in the market has been fucking remarkable and with such little wiggle room its needed to be. Its not all worked and some contract extension have been debateable but if the threads all just said the player is great and well done the club they wouldnt move past a few pages.

I agree but if hes been in our thoughts for a while, the reports state player wanted to wait for better offers so elected to stay rather than Milan turning down the proposal. I guess the negative there is if we had senior positions in place and were at the table at the time the deal MAY have gotten done cheaper and player had more time with us over preseason. As your rightly saying its all should of would of could of at this point. On early showing hes been a good buy and only 23. We should be praising the club on its once again excellent talent ID. The money only matters these days in a PSR world where every penny counts.

For his age and current showing hes been a great purchase and a relatively low fee. Unfortunately you cant deny it was only a matter of weeks before he was being offered the chance to go for 25m euros (around 22m) amd seems it was the player that blocked it not the club then weeks later we pay 10m more for him. https://www.transferfeed.com/transfers/malick-thiaw-milan-como/12360623 Also going back longer in the hindsight trail of thought how much would he have been getting him the season before instead of wasting it chasing guehi. I for one am pleased hes here now its not my money and is less than some players could have been on the shopping list.
  17. I don't have a good memory I remember him speaking out unhappy at the removal of player bonuses and the meal arranged with Ashley which the press twisted into him calling him a nice guy. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46057167 I guess its the interpretation of what qualities make them the best? Loyalty? Skill?cost? Number of games played? By that standard you could say schar who don't think has been mentioned yet depending if we allow those given extension and not just newly signed from 2020 onwards.
  18. Likely was a "forced" upon player to get the PSR solving deal over the line was never going to displace Pope who Eddie helped recruit. May just not suit our league either he found himself out of the forest side too before we had to take him didn't he?
  19. Agreed if the good performances don't equal a good bid hopefully a decent loan fee for a few years to offset the 20mish we paid for him.
  20. That was my original point yes 👍 However still struggling to get my head around accounting side if you stretch the fees paid for both big nick over 5 years and wissa over 4 years respectively the Isak money will more than cover year 1 of their amortised costs maybe year 2 and year 3 his fee won't cover the other years so would need more revenue or more sales so its not a magic money tree to tap into more spending potential. My brain clearly is outside of its comfort zone here so I will shut up 🤣
  21. True but without that sort of fee coming in you assume that the budget for a striker wasn't originally 70m it wouldnt have made sense had the rat not wanted to leave to play second fiddle with other areas of the squad needing money spent on it. As it turns out he had no intention of staying and Wilson early doors turned down the extension offer so yes big spends needed on one of the most expensive areas of the squad to recruit in. Losing out on targets and getting later and later into the window has ultimately meant we have spent alot on both of them. Hopefully how they are on the pitch and impact to our season and seasons to come will pay it back.
  22. Do we spend that much on 2 players if the fee for the rat wasn't that big though? There was a point before Wilson left we offered him a contract albeit an incentive based one to stay. How wisely we spent it and what the actual budget was prior to sales coming into the summer was anyones guess though. Sure Craig no hope was peddling 75m at one point we went on to spend over 200m before sales didn't we?
  23. It's exceptional isn't it even when receiving a pass higher off the ground or at the wrong pace it doesn't often bounce off him like you see with others.
  24. I am not accounting smart to debate this so won't make myself any more foolish. The fee in laymens terms paid for the two forwards nearly is all I was agreeing to TCD point. How this is expressed in the accounts is a different matter but the fee for him only comes once in the accounts the subsequent annual costs of the two of them still need to be paid for year on year either through income or sales. Obviously this will depend if psr stays or we move to a squad cost model or a hybrid/something else.
  25. I dont quite follow sorry (this is why I dont get involved with accountacy debates). We still had a book value for Isak yes, we had a reported 5 or 10% rumoured sell on % to go back to his old club so all of the 133 or whatever it was isnt "working capital" We saved year on year the amortisation costs for the others years left on his deal as he was no longer here and replaced it with more spending and costs over the 5 years on big Nick and was it 3 or 4 on Wissa? If we didnt "spend" any of the Isak money/income from the sale what did we spend to make the purchases possible?
