  1. Is it back on amazon or elsewhere tonight anyone know?
  2. Maybe get creative wissa becomes the gordon replacement on the wing allowing the gordon fee to go on a new out and out striker? We may not be able to shift all of our "problem" players anyway.
  3. I can see 6 signings easily ready to help the 1st 11 immediately or all immediate upgrades to the starting 11 much much less likely if we adopting a young and hungry player profile.
  4. I made a point somewhere if the club are happy with 99% of the squad and this seasons was just a mixture of too many games and bad luck then your possibly right. Those seasons of no first team signings to me were nearly as harmful as the ineffective signings of the summer the squad look stale. But ultimate we ain't ever going to "fix" things in 1 window the likely compromise we keep those who have been poor this season and hope/pray they improve.

I still think someone will test us for osula who has had a strong end to the season. Maybe there is a world we keep the 3 strikers and still sign a new striker would likely require spending less elsewhere and maybe Wissa going back to being a winger?or Howe using a no10 and moving big nick into that position? Alot of what iffery really may come down to how they do in the WC and what if any offers come in. If all we get is low balls or loan offers we may have no choice but to keep.
  6. Think they wanted him before he joined us? Obviously that was before they signed 20 other wingers ploughed through 8 managers etc. He would be mad to go there flavour of the month until the next shiny thing comes along and he's benched.
  7. 2 player sales 1 big player like tonali or gordon and 1 of Murphy or willock who are running out of contract and we still close to 5/6 or 7 coming through the door. How many are immediately ready to be 1st teamers ready to start may be the biggest difference rather than number of players signed this summer. Cheaper "gambles" who may not immediately replace whoever has the 1st 11 slot may be more common this summer.
  8. I get where your going but player sales are required to invest in the squad this summer so players will go. Also lascelles, targett and trips are definitely gone. I hope no one activates that loan to permanent for ramsdale Krafth, schar, Ruddy, Gillespie all out of contract Murphy, willock, BDB and Pope on final 12 months. No Europe may mean we can kick the can down the road with less changes due to needing a smaller squad with less games. We also need to think players another year older and is our main issue stem from too many games only if not then we do definitely need fresh players. So retaining many as we can and limiting to 1 big sale still means we need 1 keeper, LWB cover, RWB cover and replace who we sell as a minimum I dont think we do keep all of schar/krafth or willock so they also need replacing as mentioned before that may be in cheaper young players rather than immediate 1st team additions.
  9. It's that awful issue we have had with a few now low fees cost more to replace than they bring in. Let's say your right and someone would be interested in either both with 12 months left how much will you get? 10m for murphy? 12/15m for willock? It's going to cost more to get a rough diamond from abroad for either of them with no promise they will ever step up. Not debating to disagree with you BTW just trying to see both sides I would be happy for both to go.
  10. The issue with murphy and willock are they have 12 months left or go for nowt we can't keep letting players go for nothing. Willock is 25/26 I think and cost us a fair chunk you need to try and sell hes not good enough to extend. Murphy is a little harder now 31 and only cost us 10/12m? Can't see him being worth much to another club due to the decline of this year. Sadly when Murphy is on it he's still our best assistor (is that a word?) On the wing. I dont think we have the budget to lose money on elanga so it's probably something we leave for 12 months Murphy goes and if elanga has another rotten season he's demoted to backup or book value lower then to sell at a loss?
  11. Targett out of contract come the summer so won't be back. Even if BDB is a LB cover he also has to cover for botman regular break downs and is out of contract in 12 months its not a long term fix. We were linked to dayann methalie in jan but he got injured so maybe one we revist?
  12. I think the league season has been bad and not wanting to start the whole has it really debate or mitigation debate for the hundredth time it would concern me if the club thinks the summer signings having this rocky season will suddenly make them great next season mixed with the emergence of Osula as a viable option means there isnt alot to do other than a keeper and replace the out of contract players. The club havent said that anywhere maybe reports of sell to buy maybe or 1 in 1 out but we all know this team doesnt need a minor tinker to get it back on track, how broken it is and how to solve it and what you can kick down the road another 12 months may be the starting point really.
  13. While I agree a big reset is needed I dont see us getting 7/8/9 in one window. If we dont get europe it may be we retain Schar possibly, we may consider a utility defender to provide cover to more than one of the back 4 instead of signing 2 (risky as it may seem), pope stays for his final 12 months and we sign 1 keeper, Willock and Murphy are in their final year I think come the summer I see us retaining 1 of them unfortunately I think it will be 4 first team starters and 2 or 3 development young lads who are here with the first team getting limited mins like Hall a couple of seasons ago (except cheaper). Come the 2027/28 season we will have pope, BDB, willock and murphy (if still here) out of contract and Bruno/Barnes/Joelinton on their final 12 months if not extended so its not going to slow down in terms of needing to keep churning players.
  14. I am hoping its a mix of downplaying expectations of ripping it up and starting again, we also dont know at this stage which first 11 regulars we 1 can peddle and 2 will attract bids high enough to let go. Also some of our signings may well be more to do with depth than needing to start straight away if Tino and Hall do stay for instance it may be younger development/competition than needing to start likewise if Schar goes its a backup to Thiaw etc. However I do think we do need a starting keeper, starting striker, starting RW and if Gordon a certainty then a starting LW so there is 4. If we allow Tonali to go then a starting specialist DM or midfielder also.
  15. I think you could debate that lack of a Bruno cover and creative spark in the middle, defensive cover which we have gotten away with in part despite Botman, Schar, Hall and Tino all having spells out and lack of a striker of such quality to get anywhere close to 20 a season, murphy on his final year and apparent decline this season and his replacement in elanga being far from a successor so far are all "priorities" thats before you have the task to replace whoever you sell. Defensive mistakes due to the keeper, lack of trust in playing out the back which has led to more possession lost and more defensive frailty certainly have been hampered by how bad Ramsdale and Pope have been. However the rebuild is bigger than one position and we need to spread our budget or profit from player sales accordingly. The keeper situation is made worse by Pope now being shite and on final 12 months come the summer and all the others ruddy, the greek lad etc all either going or not good enough anyway. Spending a lot on a keeper doesn't mean guarantee success but we tried the short term fix in loan with option and it hasnt worked we are now at the point we need a new number 1 to start straight we cant slowly embed a new keeper or take them out when its not working as I don't see us signing 2 keepers this summer and the alternative is more of pope (not certain he will want to play out his contract from the bench either).
  16. The keeper issue worries me its a key position to get right but we have loads of other positions to look at keepers can be expensive. if you gamble on a cheaper lesser known and it doesn't work you get them on the bench and potentially pope back as no1. The keeper that comes in thanks to how badly the keeper position has been overlooked means whoever needs to come in needs to work from the off as our backups are now going or not good enough.
  17. I am hoping its more speculate to accumulate model like if I built an extension on my house enjoy it when I have it but longer term its increased the value of my home. The report ages ago indicated it would be partly funded and part debt I assume that's to leverage their interests and risk but also longer term if the club were to be sold we would be worth more as a club with a new stadium (preferably owning the land its on) than as we are now so it wouldn't be a gift it would be a longer term look on making the club more valuable at exit.

I guess one must go to allow reinvestment in the forward line unless Gordon goes and we get a utility player who plays across the front 3 or dare we adopt a formation change it's either 23 year old osula for a profit (how big a profit depends on what we sell for obviously). Big nick 24 who has talent but may never realise it here or the much older wissa. It's a hard choice as they all not a sure thing and 2 of them if sold right now would be losses. We dont seem to get back to our steam rolling days so in tight games having more goals in the side are even more important I couldn't hang my hopes on any of them really at the min. Wissa may well say the right things happy to be here proud to have the no. 9 shirt buts he's just not been good enough no preseason and coming back too soon is all well and good but that was 4 months ago.
  19. Going for hot prospects or emerging talents won't equal no competition though looking at the one from Jan was Kees Smit I think that had many "admirers" rejection is likely to happen lets hope a plan and structure this summer means we can 1. Accept it will happen and 2. Know when to walk away and 3. Be able to pivot
  20. I think the loan market and the older /end of contract/ released players should now be looked to be considered no more small pool can improve us shite. Of course depending obviously on wages is sensible when we have such a big rebuild needed. It comes with risks but so does signing a load of unknown young lads from other leagues there has to be a balance found to make our funds stretch while also getting good value. There is no perfect transfer models they all come with risk and downside I have said already we have leaned too much into prem player premium when if done right you can find good players out in other leagues Bruno and pre injury Botman are good examples had they already been in the league when we tried to sign them I assume the fee would have been double what we paid? Buying or bidding on a load of old players I just cant see it personally the Wissa transfer will have ramifications surely in terms of what will be authorised going forward but I am fine with assessing every player and deal on its own merit rather than saying they MUST be under 23 for instance.
  21. While I suspect your right we do need a few successes 1. It shows players of similar profiles we approach/compete for in the future we have a track record that your good enough there are paths to the first team not just a loan market. And 2. We still have low value or old players likely to leave for free if our academy isn't going to bring any through then some of these lads going out getting game time elsewhere just might.
  22. Do you think the plan is fresh assessment and may help stretch the budget keeping him at the club or just loan again. No idea what the plan is for the 18,19,20s signed over last 2 years assume non have pulled up any trees but surely they all aren't bought to flip but develop elsewhere to reintegrate

The use him and sell him for 20/30m to a league abroad now looking like a minor miracle rather than any concrete plan. Mad to think how much stock can fall in a player in 12 months but giving them nearly double our reported opening offer essentially bidding against ourselves can do that to deals.
  24. Agreed you could read into anything too much/not enough at this point. Howe saying its a big summer could be him simply agreeing/admitting it's not been good enough for small tweaks or could be him knowing he's going understanding recruitment and a new coach will bring its own complications and challenges. Personally right now uncertainty could be a negative as it makes things appear unstable but the collapse(appreciate some may not describe the latter part of the season as a collapse) of the season means nothing should be off the table.

playing so may mins or scoring so many goals or starting so many games may be the "easy to achieve" add-ons they keep saying to get it to 55m maybe we know hes done and are keeping him away to avoid it costing us 5m+ more.
