  1. Option from the bench when Isak needs a rest and the game is won already is one thing Isak out for 6 or 12 weeks and Wilson being "it" is a frightening possibility from a back up who currently offers a body with zero goal threat.
  2. I guess it's how much the Champions League brings in plus extra home games etc maybe 40 or 50m? What i want to know is can we finally get a Champions league level training kit and training ground sponsor to boost it further. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11945/13344391/champions-league-prize-money-how-much-premier-league-clubs-could-earn-from-revamped-competition

    Joe Willock

He's just not effective or impactful if he needs a regular run of games to hit top form he's not going to get it. We are going to need to rotate regular next year he needs to be ready to perform. Hoping he's moved on just don't see anyone stumping up the sort of money the club will want to consider it.

Not disagreeing holding back a genuine fellow "upstart" rival to the old top 6. However from two teams who had Bruce ball teams i am sure their fans are more pleased with the genuine desire to do well and gamble. No sympathy for rivals though pleased we beat them to it and it was very tight this season and we only had the one game a week big summer ahead.

Aye I am no accountant but we don't actually need the money here the income is what we will out down on the books it's not like we need all the money upfront to sign anyone.
  6. Only thing elite about him now is his pay packet so long Callum go prove yourself elsewhere.
  7. I don't know of its just me but the newcastle own brand stuff is so small fitting i have lost nearly 11 stone now in 9 months I am a comfy 2xl in adidas but even the 4xl stuff is skin tight.

    Anthony Gordon

Would be more concerned if it meant willock and Barnes are that sides wing options if we chose to gamble on not getting an out and out replacement.
  9. No ITK or owt but was buying a fair bit at the club shop and the lass was saying the store staff had an evening to reveal the kit with wine etc and that it was with Eddie to decide if he wanted the team to wear it last game due to superstition. I guess it we don't the team wear it on the preseason tour?
  10. Please don't say we burden ourselves with offering Wilson a year extension in the hope we get a fee too risky let him walk on a free.

The two newcastle ones that spring to mind are the miggy one trying to get a pen last season launching himself in the air he was carded for as a bad example and the pen Gordon got when Phillips tried to clear the ball and got the player as a good example if he didn't react the way he did it may not have been reviewed at all.

I think when your under pressure and trying to play out riding the challenge to try and break away or give your team a breather going down for a free kick it's a fine line. I don't like rolling around like you have been shot and would be all for a punishment. Cards for simulation don't happen often enough and var should assist refs when it's blatant. Issue is when there is slight contact and a player is going at pace it's hard to see it as much. Always subjective really as some more physical players brush off stuff and others draw a foul. . Bruno has came into issues more this season for not getting fouls this may be in part of his reputation.

Some of it to me is dark arts and the other is that when you stay on your feet the refs are more likely to say it's a 50/50 tussel and play on. I am sure we are pleased he's ours and not against us big Joe would easily get red carded against a player like Gordon "making a meal of it"

    Harvey Barnes

So many variables that I am glad it's not my decision. If he kicks on and puts in his fair share of goals we would be mad to let him go. If him being sold facilitates Mitchell getting 2 younger prospects in for strength and depth who go on to do well we would probably say in hindsight it's for the greater good. I like getting shiny new things in terms of players but this PSR shite has you thinking of players as liabilities and deprecating assets.
  15. Still think due to the numbers of kids we snapping up some come good for the first-team lowering our expenditure or they good enough to sell to reinvest in the match day squad. Not sure how far away some of these 17/18/19 year olds will be at in the next 12/18 months
  16. nufcjmc

    Harvey Barnes

We don't want to lose his goals and the different aspect of his game compared to Gordon which will suit certain games/situations but at 28 you can't blame the club thinking recycling some players to reinvest is going to have to happen to some of the squad. Getting rid doesn't mean they don't hold value we just can't retain everyone until they retire or leave on a free. It's just not always going to happen perfect timing wise.
  17. He said the next two summers i think so trips, schar, burn, lascelles may not get another rolling year. Targett is into his final year from next season? Willock and a few others will have shorter deals by then. Without extensions can see two summer windows of big change. Budget and wheeling dealing needs to allow multiple window investment.

    Anthony Gordon

He spoke about his fitness regime in that the overlap interview you can watch it on YouTube i think. Nothing ground breaking what others have said he prefers to stay out of the gym.

    Harvey Barnes

Take one of ours we take one of theirs? Amortisation still a thing isn't it? Might suit both clubs just feel we need Barnes for rotation whe in Europe but sell when you can may be the clubs motto going forward.
  20. I wonder if say a longstaff sale allows a hidden gem for under 20m say as a replacement or go towards the pot for other positions?

    Joelinton

Ooh fun final bow for longstaff or willock and miley battling it out for the final push. Gutted for him but the amount of strapping big joe has had what feels like most of the season he's lasted longer than expected.
  22. You know your stuff better than me here but miggy sale, losses from the spend from 3 seasons ago and going deeper into the league cup competition, stack money, Gordon contract extension pushing his amortisation spend to 5 years again must have helped alleviate most issues. Might prevent that June grey area spend but come the summer we must be OK. Edit just clutching at straws here and just realised this whole losses from past windows wouldn't kick in until next financial year not in June.
  23. Depends on the 5 keepers we have and who stays and who goes Dubs was extended till summer but seemingly dropped for Pope once fit. Pope unless we or him have an option to extend a year has 12 months left come the summer Ruddy well who knows Greek fella who going to buy him if he reportedly rejected Saudi. I wouldn't be against him coming in number 1 but depends how early in the window he comes in and how he performs preseason etc.
  24. If we spend 20 or 25m on him unfortunately he's not going to be a slow burn. Dubs may be off Pope is on a relatively short contract now so while he may not come in number 1 gairenteed he's going to start plenty of games.
  25. Only the 1 year left so maybe lower than that be happy with 10m+ based on this and his lack of game time this season.
