  1. Will be interesting to see what some of these players are actually like, when everything around them is professionally ran and a quality manager is in place. bringing in a striker that throughout his career has never been prolific while he is young and a good manager can get more out of him would you really want him in the side week in week out when we could and should get better in?
  2. wonder what we can do with Joelinton? send him on loan, sell him for the 8million he is actually worth or keep him to clean the boots and help pat down the turf?
  3. Why not Where do you think Bruce would take Newcastle, even with financial backing? Not very far! If you read my post properly I did say until the end of the season. Of course I want him out after then! I would say it may depend on if the new owners have already earmarked and potentially spoken with DOF/manager slots as if they have already done so then that team can already start planning/plotting out what to do. If the new owners/board have not thought that far ahead or already have a mind boggling amount of things to sort I can see a small argument in the very short term to keep at least this side of things the same. Also depends on when/if this season ends when transfers will be allowed etc.
  4. back to the Freddie Shepherd days where the top 3/6 all go for a player and we just out bid them, will work for some players who don't already earn a mint and want to move to the best terms/deal. Will fail for others where we don't have any recent success and aren't in champions league etc. Start small and grow from there, if you find yourself in a position where you have over performed don't make our mistake and instantly build/capitalise on it so we don't slip backwards. As mentioned time and time again this approach while wont breed instant success is like night and day compared to the sloth like plodding we have been doing for years.
  5. the only thing that gives me a little hope is the wobblers ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea (to an extent) means that anyone can be caught but to stop being a one season wonder you have to have a game plan short and medium term getting your manager correct on the first try is hard/impossible but need a top calibre as to begin with the line "who would want to come to Newcastle" will be hard to shrug off unless we just start offering the most wages/packages and risk getting a bunch of mercenaries. I am glad I am only here for the ride and not the task at hand as make no mistake its mammoth, money needs to be spent everywhere management, facilities, scouting, recruitment etc etc
  6. The need for home grown players will ensure some will stick around for years to come who are young enough and good enough. All comes down to the vision of the club going forward on the medium and long term do we buy "ready developed" players off the shelf so to speak and spend more. Do we nurture young talent and have a large scale recruitment of 16-19 year olds who can step up?. Do we do a bit of both? Some managers don't seem capable of bringing up new and emerging talents which depending on how realistic a budget we were to have may not be an issue. Also as we are working with the bare bones in terms of talent its all going to be a long haul thing regardless what we do as you need to ensure some harmony with the current squad and have to start having some success to attract a certain calibre of player (thinking medium term here were some players will not move unless you have European football). I have spent so many years thinking well he will do as he is "good enough" that I don't know what it will be like to try and say no we want better, that matra means anyone in our squad is upgrade worthy but again comes down to the speed in which we can/should change.

    Players in public

Saw Peter Beardsley getting fuel at asda metro 69 plate Audi Q7 not on a private plate. Was surprised by how old he was looking even had an old man shuffle going on
  8. I think what annoys me about the pair is the phrase "we understand" or "we are hearing" etc is actually someone else's article or information rebranded with that sentence and not much more, in other words pointless.
  9. Dead wood on long or lucrative contracts or injured or if anyone has bid for them it's so low the club would rather have them around just incase
  10. Our policy is all about a gamble pluck someone from a foreign league either with a clause or a flaw and hope they turn good to sell on. Issue is if it goes badly we also like to offer 5 year deals which helps us have a strong hand negotiating with the buying club if it goes well. However the opposite to that is you have players going out on multiple loans colback, arrons saviet etc. Not part of any squad plan no place but continuing to being a drain on the clubs finances both in wages and in money on transfer never recuperate even in part.
  11. Because socks and lines have already been used.....
  12. If he is here to upgrade yedlin baring inmind Soviet and colback are unwanted and not in the 25 man squad other than paying for dead weight which may be used as an excuse to spend less I don't see an issue
  13. Cant believe we may have offered a more lucrative deal either in terms of fee or wages for anyone to be fair
  14. Yup https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/steve-bruce-gives-transfer-update-newcastle-united-1372092
  15. It's ok Bruce no need for strikers we playing well: "If somebody better can improve the squad, then I’ll try and grab. But what’s the point if Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle and (Yoshinori) Muto are going to be fit in the next two or three weeks? What’s the point of just bringing in someone if they’re not going to be any better? I’m going to be patient.”

    Nabil Bentaleb

I wonder if this is the "exciting" under the radar signing mentioned by Douglas over the weekend got to admit if it is it is under whelming.

    Nabil Bentaleb

Don't with Dummett and Willems out for the season now. If we get this guy and Valentino that's those two places gone, still think we need a left back and a striker meaning we need 2 more places. Not disagreeing we should improve on the squad with every window if we can but with the deadwood the club would like to go away being hard to shift or being injured unless we have players we know are due to go before the end of the window it does still meaning unregistering and paying players for the rest of the season.

    Nabil Bentaleb

Is it in an area we need? Cannot remember him from spurs so other than it being low risk in a loan seems we have more pressing needs in the striker and left back department especially as we need to free up squad numbers

    Nabil Bentaleb

Wiki page is a worry. On 24 February 2017, Tottenham Hotspur announced that they had reached an agreement with Schalke 04 for Bentaleb's transfer to be made permanent at the end of the loan period.[19][20] In March 2019 he was demoted to Schalke's under-23 team, "due to disciplinary reasons".[21] He returned to the first-team in April 2019,[22] before being dropped to the second team again later that month.[23]
  20. We doing a rate the window thread or not? Looking like AC will be it for incoming seen as mystery midfield rumours died early doors believing media reported fees we ain't done too bad to have an out lay of 30/35 million which I thought the owner would never sanction. However no real certainties with any of the signings and still short on quality in places. The bench/ backup seems so weak when we are 2 or 3 down not sure who comes in to turn it around or strongest 11 depending on how they gell and form may still give any under the top 8 a good run for their money. Suspensions and injuries on mass and we are in deep trouble. Running out of squad places with players seemingly no one keen to take is a secondary concern for the next couple of windows.
  21. So he has scored a similar amount of goals as Joelinton but has a big opinion of himself and potential to throw toys out of the pram... glad we signed him join the fun house
  22. Totally unfair. Modern day football has seen a move to the all action pressing style exemplified by Klopp and Poch. Wor Steve is way ahead of the game and is preparing his lads to run the other teams down like hunting dogs. Just wait til the opposition see ginger Jack charging at them at 11mph. Will need to do alot of running when they are out thought, out gunned, out styled and outclassed running around like headless chickens after the ball they see zip past them. But "Wor Steve" will be proud with the work rate and never giving up attitude of his championship team.
  23. If by some miracle short or medium term it does "work" it will be far more to do with the players brought in under Rafa and the ideas/1-1/ coaching he gave than anything Bruce comes up with.
  24. If he has control of transfers someone needs to ask why HE didn't want rondon...... oh wait I know the answer he has no say on transfers or chooses from a Dutch pile of shite or a french pile of shite name structure and priorty level not his remit in other words at most he contributes some back ground noise when they deciding without him.
  25. Just imagine if our next step isn't to move on to next "manager" target but stick with our setup as is until January......
