If we were to rate the transfer window now it's obviously a failure as of how dangerous it can be to stand still in a league full on progressive teams. But was thinking last night even if we get by some miracle 3 more in and one or two dead wood gone can that really be much better. Already been suggested by rafa they wont be his first picks, missed gel time with the squad due to coming in so late and sales can carry on after the window so could find ourselves short or bodies and quality. Depressing to the point of not wanting to log on here at times as looking for news or even a rumour and literally nothing.

I think its probably hard to answer as its not just one reason I think I consider the following factors: we allow sales to be paid for by instalments but prefer to pay for ours up front we try and budget for wages, misc fees etc at the time of purchase we do not speculate on spending big at risk of league place not covering the additional spending more than survival doesn't appear to be high on the owners agenda Rafa down to 1 year of the deal buying what or who he wants and having him walk next year only for the next manager not to like Rafa's picks seems a likely risk at the minute no guarantee we wont go down this year mainly due to our approach meaning not wanting to over stretch ever and have players on the books the championship cant afford to keep/letting them go for cheap as we are relegated plus many others I guess Ashley being a bell end is off the list but should probably be number 1

It's incredible isn't it. They still seem to think that Pickford and him are their players to support, regardless of the club they play for. They were proud as punch when Henderson captained England in the last friendly with Pickford in goal. I don't get it. dunno like marra I put it all over fb when wijnaldum scored and helped Liverpool into the champions league final.

Who would be our £20million plus player answer to our problems? I was thinking last night, if we don't buy this guy it will be hard to get someone with similar attributes for that sort of money. I knew someone would pull me on this... simple answer I dont know if I could find gems under the radar I would be a scout or agent. Just even if we had say 60m to spend while iam all for the logic in rafa we trust I wouldn't spend a third of it on him and can imagine whatever fee we have to give reportedly 16m rejected by watford from what I've seen of his premiership carear he isn't worth the outlay wages or fee. Obviously I agree the general point if he likes us and they still want to sell it may be the best we can hope for just hope with the work rafa puts in to identify these targets if the purse this summit is more than a gift voucher for Greg's there may be other players in his mind. Well I would just go along with the 'in Rafa we trust' mantra and leave it up to his judgement. If he thinks Slimani is worth what it takes to get him, I'm happy to back him, if he knows of someone younger or better for a similar price then great. I really don't give a toss about the fee, I would back his judgement on what we need every time over Ashley's transfer requirements. Hard to disagree with what your saying and no I dont care for the fee it wouldn't make me dislike a player over an inflated fee as its happening everywhere we are just yet to be caught up by it from a buying prospective. It's just in my head iam thinking budget is limited again and all comes down to how much rebuilding we need. If you feel its 2-3 players and my plucked out of thin air budget is 60m we may need 15-18m of that to keep the other two loans and that's to stand still. Does he in the long term improve the team? rafa seems to think so but would he be such an improvement to spend most of our other funds on? Could he carry the team on his own if we don't get many other quality editions because the money went on him.I dont think he will and if he fails and we do cut our losses after 1 season what would a 31 year old with a great career declined following a move to the prem be worth? Again while what we get back doesnt affect me personally it all impacts on spending power especially under the tight fisted bastards at the min. Again its all speculative as we may have no money again and we have to go back for loans or untried in this league which saves money but comes with uncertainty. Be interesting to hear people's thoughts on how many players and how much money we need to consolidate or improve on say a 10-12th place finish.

Whilst it is harsh to judge such few and short run outs. The try before you buy may have helped us especially as i dont think he is out 20millions plus player answer to our problems based on age and fee and likely wages.

It's an 7 for me we aren't down and bottom 8 all seem to be struggling but we can't seem to score, take the game to teams or have a plan b or c when things aren't going our way. Plus while i agree in many games we do try and seem to stick together the lack of quality at any position means effort gets you so far say the bottom 5 of the league which is where I can see us coasting along for the remainder of the season unless we have a fantastic window or more teams wilt and crumble.
-
The worry is our strongest 11 feels like a B side no real spark or player that isn't either very sub par or inconsistent this is due to buying inexperience and buying in the low low low end of the market. One window isnt going to fix our issues especially not under the current owner who wrongly assumed a poor squad with a great manager is enough.

He can keep all the advertising rights all over the stadium all he has to do is pay....... nevermind

Hope this is the start of retrospective bans for things missed by the ref then cant be one rule for one and not another
-
Alan smith and nicky butt levels of thank fuck he has gone
-
If we over by that many player wise it may just be forcing the issue with the player of you cant go elsewhere you have to rot dont think its quite one in one out yet unless they young
-
He came as a free the irony in todays massive bloates market if he just disappears on a free so shit seemed first name on the sheet for pardew glad he has fallen out of favour with rafa quite literally a waste of a squad place
-
Google seems to indicate failed loan to watford due to a bad injury hope it pans out atsu has been worth the gamble but if he is a winger do we really need another one
-
I would expect "squad filler" to be replaced by squad filler. i.e. riviere going and rolan coming in never going to all be high quality but good enough to reply on to do a job when called upon which is certainly better than some of our less desireable fringe players.
-
Makes sunderland signing of Jozy Altidore for similar fee at the time truely inspired they got dofoe out of it for a couple of seasons we got a waste of space on a long term deal
-
Rather see him gone too unreliable for us to take up a squad place unless it got colback shifted then give the lad a shot
-
Even if they got 30ish for him its simply not enough for the rebuild thats required take out the loans and you would hope they would let the out of contractors go that doesnt leave a big squad of players. It was certainly a long slog for us this season due to volume of games, simply relying on kids is a risky buisness. So 30million gets you 5 or 6 championship players if your lucky it doesnt restock the ranks.

His tiny mind only sees the simple things like spending some money and changing a manager head coach arrangement and thinking thats jobs done lessons learnt.

he will have the bottle of champers open by now to celebrate getting away from the club more fight in a sloth on holiday than this fella
-
was it the fans forum mins where they admitted there are no plans for relegation do you think penfold has been planning for any now or has all the hope been in rafa pulling a miracle
-
score doesnt matter, style doesnt matter, passion doesnt matter its all too little too late even playing for pride would be lack a slap in the face as the squad as a whole has had no pride for the shirt and most no doubt will see this as a blip in their carear rather than a highlight of having the chance to play for the club.
