Santon was one of the very few players Pardew was allowed to sign for us.

No-one was especially raving about Aarons when he was playing in the reserves. People thought he had promise but there was no clamour for him to be playing in the first team. He seized his opportunity when given. I've seen Kemen have some decent games but nothing to get too excited about but sometimes youngsters step up when playing with senior players like Aarons has shown so far.

Good on him for wanting to move his career on rather than just playing U21 football. The club needs to get him out on loan this season.
-
Look like a couple of kids on the stadium tour.
-
If he excels at Marseilles, the chances are they could get more for him than the current agreed price. Didn't Roma make a small profit on Yanga Mbiwa?

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-take-summer-spending-9882606 "United sources have not ruled out further recruitment but there are no other deals in the pipeline at the moment. McClaren had originally wanted Charlie Austin but the player wanted a five-year deal which wouldn’t be sanctioned. He has been impressed with Papiss Cisse’s contribution so far and also wants to see more of Cheick Tiote, who is yet to be utilised in the close season."

I read last night that Crewe marked him much closer than he had been in previous games so he was a bit quieter but he still managed to get a goal. He is going to get a lot of attention now from the opposition from now on so all good experience for him.

The one thing we know is that club won't overstretch themselves financially. They will only pay what they want and within their budget so it is not something I am worried about. The only thing is whether they are investing in the right area of the team and that is a concern until the defence is addressed.

I'm quite sad about him leaving especially as he seemingly wanted to stay. Seemed a really likeable guy and always looked happy. Think of all those players that struggled in their first season e.g. Bergkampf, Henry, Drogba. It would have been interesting to see how Cabella would have done with a season behind him.
-
I think we mostly sign decent players just not for the positions that are a priority.
-
Whether they are Geordies are not is irrelevant but they need the academy to start producing more players for the first team. Considering this was one of the things that Ashley said was a priority from the outset, it has been a huge failure for him as there seems little improvement from when he first arrived 8 years ago.

The local journos were saying at the time that the club had told them that the fee was closer to £7m. It was probably a case of £7m rising to £12m with add-ons.
-
Nope, nothing new. QPR now saying they have had two offers but neither matching their valuation.
-
I'm a bit worried about this. He has said over and over again that he doesn't want to come and now it looks like he is being backed into a corner with this transfer. He's got an attitude and he has been difficult at previous clubs so I just hope that he settles in here. If he moves on next year, I hope it is because he has been a success and not another failed transfer.
-
And seeing as we only seem capable of working on one transfer at a time and they are saying it will take up most of next week, that leaves a week to sort out the defence.
-
I love Cabaye but I am sick about hearing about him. It seems as if there is only one player at Palace. Pardew is absolutely obsessed with him.
-
They couldn't afford £500k last Summer for him.

Did anyone hear the start of Total Sport tonight? They were talking about Jetro Willems and I am sure they said Newcastle were definitely interested. I am not sure if they were belatedly picking up the rumour from a few days ago that has since been denied or whether this is new information. They said it had been discussed on Radio Newcastle earlier in the day but I don't know who by - if Mick Lowes was involved, I would give it a little more credence than if it was any of the others on Radio Newcastle.
-
We were linked with Dunk a few years ago. Must have reached the end of the monitoring stage. If Colo is staying then perhaps it makes sense to sign a younger defender as there is no way Colo is going to be on the bench.

From the Coventry Telegraph "Armstrong will, however, miss Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup trip to Rochdale due to being cup-tied – his parent club Newcastle United not allowing him to play in case he’s needed back at St James’ Park later in the season."
-
He likes him because no other manager will indulge him as much as Pardew.
-
All that outrage in the press at the time because he wasn't sacked. Our local journalists don't share the love. Maybe that is because they had to witness the rubbish he served up every week rather than the 5 minute TV highlights. Pardew has a lot to thank Newcastle for - he has re-invented his reputation because of us. No other Premier League would have employed him.

West Brom to break transfer record again after Salomon Rondon arrives for a medical. Zenit striker to cost around 15m More @TimesSport Gary Jacob 1:30 p.m. - 7 August 2015

Well so far I have managed to keep the radio on. Always had to turn it off when Pardew was on.

Maybe the player himself wants to go if he feels he won't get enough game time with us which is likely. He is at that stage in his career where he needs to be playing every week especially as he is an international and he knows he can do it from his loan spell in Greece.
