He has always been the same. Win and it is all down to him, lose and it because the players ignored his instructions.
  2. I think he would do well if he had been brought in pre-season. Huge pressure on him now to have an immediate impact. I see all the usual candidates have written him off already because he is not English and has not Premier League experience (having played in the league obviously doesn't count).
  3. Young inexperienced keeper but one who has been playing regular football this season and doing well or an experienced one who has not played for a while?
  4. It is an unfortunate situation as he needs games to get back to match fitness but we are in the position where we can't afford to take risks at the moment.
  5. They showed some fight today when they were 2-0 down - we would have given up at that point and ended up conceding another 2 or 3 goals.
  6. Can you imagine if he gets Villa playing good football and winning games and we stay in the bottom 3. Yet another example of here's what you could have but instead we opt for the second-rate option Mind you we need to remember that Newcastle does not have enough Art Galleries to entice a decent manager.
  7. Southampton have been after him for a while and I am sure Arsenal have been mentioned as well. Palace also interested but that is no surprise but he should stay away from his Dad and develop in his own right.
  8. Agree. Lots of empty seats all over and one or two larger patches.
  9. There seems to be some complacency from the club that we will get through to January, recruit some new players and all will be well. I am not so confident. If we cannot beat Sunderland and Stoke, I can't see many points being picked up in many of the games till the end of the year. And will the new players (if they can actually get the ones they want - not likely if we are still in the bottom 3) adapt to the Premier League soon enough to make a difference? Our hope seems to be that other teams continue to struggle around us so that we stay in touch with them but Allardyce could get Sunderland picking up a few points and a new manager at Villa could make a difference there.
  10. Nothing that has come out of the club in recent weeks gives any cause for optimism that they have learnt their lessons - sticking to the blueprint, sell to buy, young players with a sell-on value, Premier League players are too expensive etc. Again they are thinking short-term in relation to finances - trying to keep the balance sheet looking good now but not thinking about the long-term consequences of that and the millions they will lose as a result.
  11. He looked better as the game went on. He looked well off the pace the first half hour but he grew into the game, and was having a positive influence when Tintin brought him off. We lost momentum after he came off too. Tiote has always needed a number of games after an injury to get back in form. He is not one of those that can immediately pick up the pace again. It looks like Dr Jong has the same problem but we can't afford to give him the time on the pitch he needs to get back to match fitness.

    Adam Armstrong

Shaun Derry was on Talksport was raving about him. Said he had watched him a lot and that he was the standout player in the division.
  13. Elliot had a fitness test before the match and they were expecting Woodman to play today. It is always the same with Elliot - all the talk about how he is going to seize his opportunity and and couple of weeks later he is injured.
  14. It will be interesting to see if Leeds fans can come up with the money to buy the club. Virtually all of the supporter-owned clubs are quite small so the finances required for a club like Leeds would be huge in comparison. It would be a really difficult challenge but with all the dodgy owners they have had, at least they would know they were making decisions in the interest of the club and not the owner. I would be so wrong for someone like Cellino to succeed in getting them promoted and getting their hands on all that Premier League money. It seems to be a trend these days for potential foreign owners to buy Championship clubs with the aim of getting them into the Premier League - must cheaper than buying the likes of us, Villa or Everton.
  15. As long as their is a recall agreement in place, they should send out any player out on loan if the opportunity arises. They need competitive games to help them improve. Toney has already had plenty of competitive games which is probably why he is streets ahead of his teammates but it would be good for him to get games in a higher division that he has previously played in. With us, these deals often break down because the interested clubs cannot afford the salaries. Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd etc seem to have no problem getting their players loaned out and they are likely to be earning loads more than our lads. I can't see why we seem to be so petty about such things as if a player does well on loan it will be hugely beneficial to NUFC.
  16. Torn about this. Don't want him to do well because I want (and we need) Villa to continue to struggle and then Charnley and co will feel quite smug. However, if he comes in and get their team playing well and moving quickly up the league and we continue as we are, then even more questions are going to be asked of Charnley and all those quotes dripfed out of the club e.g. lack of arts in the city, too big a club for him, didn't interview well etc will come back to haunt them.
  17. They seem to answer most questions by saying they answered it back in 2014 and so refer people back to the relevant minutes, emails etc. it's like you only get the opportunity to answer a question once and are never allowed to repeat it.

im afraid we'd be the same in truth, we have to just take it mate its part of the hatred, i do predict a lot of disorder in the return fixture next march.i can see hell on in town before and after the match regardless of the result I am old enough to remember more than 3 years ago and what i saw we really werent the same at all. The minor fact that they dont dominate our every waking thought means after the laughter we moved on reasonably quickly. I sure as hell dont remember seeing endless photos of our fans holding fingers up to say we won 5 in a row either. I don't think many of us realised we had won 5 in a row until Sunderland did it. I don't think many of us cared. Pfft. Anyone who didn't care is a godamned mackem. 9-1, FTM, SIAR. Watch ya LETTERBOX! Didn't the 9-1 thing only start after we beat them 5-1?

  21. Are Stoke really that physical these days? Colback and/or Anita should be able to run rings around Whelan and Adam. Bojan, Arnautovic, Shaqiri and Diouf are another issue mind. They were tonight according to the radio commentary.
  22. Whoever made the decision to spunk over £10m on Thauvin when there were other areas in the squad that desperately needed attention should be held accountable. Baffling decision - same as the signing of Darlow and Lascelles 2 seasons ago when we were f***ing desperate for a forward. I didn't want McClaren and I'm yet to be convinced by him, but I suspect he has minimal input on signings, board member or not. Sacking him wouldn't change the fact that we have a huge hole in our squad at centre half and central midfield. I am not saying he should be sacked but that whilst Charnley is running the show, his job is safe.
  23. McClaren is safe whilst Charnley is here. This club tends to delay important decisions until they have no choice but to act. Charnley will stick to the old mantra of stability, not panicking etc but I think he is too cowardly to make a decision and to admit he has made a mistake. However if results don't improve, I would expect Ashley to get involved and I wouldn't be surprised to see Charnley lose his job at that point, After all, Ashley has made it clear that the managerial appointment was nothing to do with him. Obviously the worry would then be the replacements because Ashley has shown himself to be clueless in that area and no doubt will be looking to see which of his mates needs a job rather than the best man for the job.
  24. No surprise that the media have decided that Garde would be a bad choice and that Villa really need an English manager like Moyes or Pearson.
  25. But are we (a) capable of buying the players we actually need and (b) depending on where we are in the league, we might struggle to attract any decent players.
