I really think Gouffran's form was affected by Cabaye leaving. I can't remember how he and Cabaye linked up on the pitch but he has certainly been poor since that January.
-
That is the same situation we were in the previous season. Although I don't agree with it, I kind of get it when clubs are in a serious relegation battle (although you can see the impetus a cup run can give as it kickstarted Sunderland's season under Poyet). But when clubs are already safe, then why play weakened teams? With nothing to play for for the rest of the season, clubs tend to drift into poor form as we have done for the last two seasons. A cup run would keep players motivated and at least give the second half of a season some interest.

Kind of Murtagh to lump the fans in with the blame for last season It is what I expect the club to brief journalists with when questions are asked about any failure in the transfer market. It will be blamed on the fans unrest last season and the lack of season ticket renewals.
-
A risk to sell him until we know if the replacements can score goals at this level. Buy 2 Rivieres to replace him and we will have a problem. I would keep him till January to see how the new strikers (if they ever arrive) are doing. His value shouldn't really drop between now and then and there would probably be more clubs interested.
-
I think I heard he lives in Wiltshire so Southampton would be the obvious choice for him if they are interested. If we do get him, it will be because no-one else wants him.

Newcastle united football company? is that new? sickening really. also got tickled with "it is your support that makes this club what it is" an embarrasing shambles . I was recently having a sort out and found some old letters from the club regarding the heritage stones when they were first launched in 2000 and "Newcastle United Football Company" was on the letterhead. So I am afraid that is one thing that Ashley is not responsible for.
-
I think if they get Eric Steele in that might well persuade Krul to stay at least another season. Surely he would welcome the opportunity to be coached by him (didn't he also coach Van de Sar?).
-
Steve Round has worked at NUFC before and under Ashley so it is not a surprise that he would prefer to look elsewhere.
-
Hasn't Bamford got issues with McClaren after he felt he played him out of position when he was at Derby. I am sure if another Premier League club wants to take him on loan that he will go there. It will probably happen towards the end of the window once clubs have a clearer idea of what their squads are going to look like.
-
Also the fact we pay up front for transfers, whilst laudable, puts us at a disadvantage because we cannot afford to pay as high a transfer fee as our rivals e.g. Everton and Lukaku.
-
I think West Ham would be quite keen to move Carroll on if they got an acceptable fee for him. I am not sure if we are interested. I just always think it is a name the club throw out there because they think it get the fans onside.

There was a bookmaker on the radio this morning saying that is what his sources have told him!! There was also a discussion about him being a good fit for Palace. I've seen Southampton and Villa linked as well so he probably has a few choices. If there is genuine interest from Southampton I would have thought that would appeal to him the most as he is from the South coast. Until he signs, it is doesn't matter how close the club thinks the deal is. They thought Remy was a done deal and then found he had signed for QPR.

I thought he attended board meetings. I am not sure that he is actually on the board.
-
I thought he had already had his medical and that the deal is close to completion. Strange that no other clubs have been linked though.
-
If McClaren is on the board, will he be attending the Fans Foru?
-
Sky reporters said that supporters were positive towards McClaren then they showed several interviews with fans which ranged from lukewarm to indifference.

As George so eloquently puts it: George Caulkin @CaulkinTheTimes 32 mins32 minutes ago #Nufc should be a beacon for the city: proud, connected, open. Instead, they're cold, dry, aloof. An idyll for payday lenders & tat-hawkers.

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/583476/Newcastle-Moussa-Sissoko-Snub-Arsenal-Chelsea-Transfer-News He told French newspaper Le Parisien: "Didier Deschamps clearly told us that he will only be choosing players who are regularly playing [at their clubs]. "With one year to go until the Euros, you cannot change club and find yourself on the bench." He will have learnt from what has happened to Cabaye.

I hope Abeid gets another chance here. He had a great year in Greece and when he got into the team played well before his injuries. Then he comes back and makes a mistake against Man Utd which leads to a goal. After that, he barely featured and then it starts to be mentioned in news articles that the coaches don't think he can do this and that etc and he is likely to be one of the ones shipped out. He is still young so why not try to coach the lad to address the shortcomings in his game instead of writing him off. The attitude with Pardew and his staff seemed to be why bother trying to improve a player - just ship them out. So MYM couldn't head a ball (like the other central defenders could!) so why not coach so he learns how to do that. I can't believe how quick they were to write players off. That is why the coaches needed to go as these players need to be looked at though fresh eyes without being influenced by entrenched opinions. Hopefully such issues will now be addressed and we will see players starting to improve with the help of the staff. Abeid might not be good enough but it seemed that he was never going to get the chance to prove himself either way.

Was here during Keegan's time wasn't he?
-
I think him tweeting Shearer is a sign aswell I think he was already at QPR when McClaren coached there for a couple of months so that may help.
-
It is not like Carver stepped in for a game or two - he was the "manager" for several months. That would always create an awkward situation for both McClaren and Carver so it would never have made sense for Carver to revert to his previous role.

Talksport reporting Carver and Stone have left NUFC.
