  1. 9th is right about where NUFC belong innit? Unless we actually buy some really good players (and are we really going to spend that much?), there is no chance we will finish top half. The only team I can see dropping out of the top 10 at the moment is Palace and then you have Everton and West Ham who would also expect to be top half. The club's inadvertent campaign to continually diminish the club and its status continues afoot.

I see he is still taking Bill Beswick (sports pyschologist) everywhere with him. Didn't they used to say McClaren would consult him on everything first. Wonder whether we would let him bring such people with him.

I don't get the "yes" man thing because that means that anyone who accepts the job would be categorised as that because they are willing to work for Ashley. What they shouldn't do is to publicly endorse every Ashley decision and dedicate their wins to him and try to convince us he is a fan as much as the rest of us. The new guy should be diplomatic in those situations where they don't criticise the owner in public but don't take every opportunity to praise him either.
  4. The personality of any organisation is that of its owner. Ashley has contempt for everyone and that has seeped throughout NUFC.
  5. Were those people in charge of transfers at City still at Barcelona when they signed Song?
  6. I just wish the club could do things in the right way. How hard can it be? It just appears that they are cowards and always get someone else to do their dirty work. It is so sad that so many of our players leave feeling bitter in the end - and it is always directed at the boardroom.
  7. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-resist-offers-moussa-9362725 Mark Douglas says the following in the article: "Although Carver remains on staff – and his contract will revert to that of a coach – Newcastle are hoping to re-model their playing staff and coaching teams this summer."
  8. They must have learnt their lesson on that one.
  9. Does McLaren still claim his team are magnificent when they have been dreadful like he seemed to do with every game when he was at Boro?
  10. I see West Ham having failed to get Benitez are now being linked with Klopp, Bielsa, Prandelli and Emery amongst others. What a contrast to those names we are being linked with.

Really not keen on McLaren. It would be such an uninspiring choice. Everyone says he is a very good coach and puts on good sessions but does this mean that you are good at developing and really improving players? I don't see that he has left any great legacy at former clubs or hear of players crediting him with their development. Would scream out that there is a lack of ambition and they are content to do just enough to get by and I would see us as no more than a bottom half team flirting with relegation battles. Especially as other teams are being so much more ambitious and imaginative with their managerial appointments.
  12. Can't help that the club have put this put whilst they get on with the business of appointing McLaren. At least Vieira would show imaginative thinking from the club for a change which McLaren definitely wouldn't.
  13. Used to serialise them on the H&J show on talkSPORT. Despite that I still thought they were a spoof for a long time.
  14. Probably no interest in him hence "I want to stay at Newcastle". Will be off like a shot of anyone does.

Whoever the player is, there is a right way and a wrong way to do things and we always do it the wrong way. The club say they are learning from their mistakes and want to be warm and welcoming but obviously haven't started those lessons yet. It always seem as if a player leaves on a sour note - bundled out the backdoor with undue haste. Santon, Barton, Nolan, Carroll etc. The only exception seems to have been Debuchy.
  16. Interesting that Jonas is doing his coaching badges. It would have made sense to keep him on as a squad players and have him at the club as a mentor and coach for the youngsters. What a character to have as an example. And Ashley, Charnley and co are a bunch of cowards - always getting someone else to do their dirty work. Never seem to be able to do things face to face.
  17. Speechless.. Charnley is the biggest danger for our future he's a f***ing secretary that can't make decisions because he is s*** scared he gets it wrong. He stuck with Carver because he never had the no-how or gumption to find someone better and now he can't even tell the players face to face that their contracts will not be renewed, he just gets his bulldog to do it for him. You are right. He seems terrified to make a decision. You hear of other clubs planning ahead like Southampton who are constantly reviewing a list of potential managers and monitoring them so should the need arise, they know exactly who they would be going for.
  18. I feel the same. Disaster written all over it that one. It would be Keegan (his second stint) all over again. Laudrup wouldn't last 2 months in the clubs current setup. He want complete control over transfers etc. I also think he has an agent who want to be involved in transfers - one of the reasons I think, he fell out with the board at Swansea. Whatever happened there, they were glad to be rid of him in the end which would concern me.
  19. I think you so. What about if you are a member? Members can apply for away tickets can't they? And if so, do they get loyalty points? I was wondering if someone cancelled their season ticket but took out a membership instead, would they keep their loyalty points?
  20. We have supposedly been chasing him for a while so if that is true, you would think that one of the first things you would establish in negotiations is his wage demands.

    St James' Park

It must be because they have supposedly sold around 40,000 tickets for Saturday and are hoping for a good walk up on the day.

    John Carver

Ryder now referring to him as "the head coach". Its obvious he is going to be the guy in charge moving forward. Too many stories being leaked regarding player backing, Janmaat and now Sissoko. Apparently the Chronicle got a call from the club when they called him the "Interim Head Coach" in one of their articles to say they had to call him the "Head Coach".

    Lee Charnley

Trouble is some of those on the list have gone and got themselves jobs. Goodness knows why they didn't want to wait for another few months before Carver gets appointed permanently.
  24. Like when has Charnley watched Burton to be impressed by Hasselbaink.
  25. None of that stuff in the papers will matter if they appoint Carver as manager.
