Well if he does get the job, I guess there will be a rush to the exit door by all the players. And despite Ashley distancing himself from the decision, it would tell me that the club have no serious interest in improving and immediately discredits his interview yesterday.
-
Wonder if he's been put on gardening leave because of the compensation issues meaning he can't get another job for a specific period of time. Therefore Carver gets the job until he is available??
-
He's not new. He covers the Falcons (was previously the Press Office at the Falcons) but does the occasional football report.
-
Isn't he from Corsica in which case, it would probably be an Italian pronunciation.
-
Looked like that to me. Saw it was Gerrard and just gave up the chase.

I have heard that his English is good - picked it up very quickly. 2 or 3 weeks ago Total Sport were saying they would be playing an interview with him during the week but I never heard it. Might have been one of those ones that go out in the hour build-up before a match. If it happened it could still be available on their Listen Again feature - maybe check with Radio Newcastle?
-
If it is, he won't last long. A bunch of new players won't disguise his incompetence. It will just be a case of whether the club sack him in time as they do like to dither over the really important decisions.

No way do I want McLaren to be in charge next season. However, he would be a better appointment for us (i.e. Mike Ashley) if we are still a Premier League club rather than a Championship club. Mr Average for a mid-table team in the Premier League but 2 failed promotion seasons with one of the best squads in the Championship implies he would not be good choice if we are relegated and want a quick return.

At this rate, there will only be one name left from that list of candidates back in January.
-
So West Ham get £12m, for finishing 11th and we get £4.8m if we finish 17th (£3.6m for 18th). Good job we got some compensation for Pardew, sold a couple of players and saved on some wages to make up for the £7.2m difference in prize money for dropping down the league.

It says in that article that Irving's assistant David Gilroy, is also leaving to go to Manchester City. And Wendy Taylor is supposedly leaving for Palace. I wonder how many more are ready to jump ship. It started with Pardew and we are led to believe that many of the players want out. And now the management staff are following suit!

Nope, it's not a thing. Southampton don't, sunderland don't. West Brom have never had it whilst they've had their thick normal stripes. We're the only ones who seem to insist on it for some reason. What about the premier league numbers/letters? Are they only allowed to be black now? When West Brom had their stripes, they used red letters/numbers. Obviously black would be impossible on any newcastle kit, red would probably look ridiculous too We used to have red numbers before the PL, it was fine. Yeah I know, I meant that I wonder if the PL made a new rule about the numbers having to be black or a dark colour (dunno why they would ) Just found this in the Prem rules "M.7. When playing in League Matches each Player shall wear a shirt on the back of which shall be prominently displayed his shirt number so as to be clearly visible in accordance with guidelines laid down by the Board from time to time, and above that his surname or such other name as may be approved in writing by the Board" Nothing there, so no idea. Does say "prominently" though. Not sure Stoke's were that "prominent" this season Wasn't there some UEFA ruling over the numbers on the back which might be why Southampton and West Brom have never addressed it. Just guessing but I do think there was a rule change at some point.

Yes it was Carver who was supposed to be a Wolves fan when he was growing up. That article is talking about John Irving, the Finance Director.

Somehow I don't think the agents will be agreeing to that.

The people running the club (Ashley included) are a bunch of cowards. They will run for cover and will not be heard from for some time.

Saying the players aren't good enough. That's the way to build up confidence. Never his fault though - it's always down to anybody or everything else.

Hull City 0-0 Manchester United - SUPER SUNDZzzzz
Wallace replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Hull know that nothing less than a win will do whereas with us, a win will guarantee we stay up but we could still stay up with a draw or loss depending on results elsewhere. If Hull get an early lead, I can see us going into panic mode and self-destructing. It all depends on Man Utd's attitude to the game especially if they don't need to win as I just cannot see us saving ourselves. -
I wonder how many of those coaches on the short list would be interested in coming to a Championship club. I can see it being Carver by default for that reason because I guess when they did all their "research" back in January, they didn't have a Plan B incase of relegation. They took a month to do their research last time and if they have to do that again, we will be into pre-season by then. Also taking into account that they will have to draw up a new list of players for the Championship so time for research will be very limited.
-
A boycott would have more of an impact in the Championship as gate receipts will have more significance with less TV money coming up.
-
Carver pleading with the fans to back the team next week. He's basically saying he hasn't got a clue now and they need the fans to help them.
-
Hull often raise their game against the bigger teams at home so I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat Man Utd.
-
I was never aware that we held end of season awards. You hear about these events at other clubs but with us there always seemed to be references to player of the year (or rather last season's POTY) and no official announcement of them. It was never clear how or who voted for them.
-
Probably been talking to their agents.
