  1. “It does appear that we could become victims of a non resident, Mr Coloccini, being an itinerant footballer, spoiling the environment for personal gain.” Find it surprising that he wants to maintain a base here once he leaves so he can come back and visit although I guess he has spent 6 years here. These days, players are more likely never to come back to the North East once they leave as they know from the outset they are just "passing through" and seem to make little effort to get to know the area.

  3. Its a way to pacify fans, there's absolutely no reason for him to sell now or in a years time as things stand. I always thought that they came up with that year just to get the fans off his back as 2016 was not too far away in the future so fans might just be prepared shut up and put up for a couple of years if they thought he was on his way.
  4. Realised I do care when I was so anxious throughout the game and because of the Mackems win. More stressed about it now than before the game because Hull are always capable of getting a result so could win at Spurs or even get something against Man Utd. Sunderland just always seem to have luck on their side in the end.
  5. Looks like all the media are basing themselves at SJP today.
  6. The thing is all their scouting has been based on looking for players to play in the Premier League. Those lists will have to be torn up and they will need to start again and knowing how long it takes them to make their mind up, how are they going to cope? Will they still look abroad? Have we already scouted any players that would be suitable for the Championship. I would also expect English clubs to put the prices up for any players we might be interested in as everyone knows we have loads of cash in the bank. And there will not be enough time to hold the moral high ground and walk away from deals before the season kicks off again. Their recruitment in the Summer would be very interesting if we go down. Mind you they have to find a manager first. What a mess they have got themselves into.

He is just being mocked by all the media now. The club really need to stop him talking.
  8. How will it be better is we stay up? I guess my perspective is based entirely on hope rather than expectation but surely the likelihood for Ashley finding a buying for a club with a £250m personal debt owed to him will be far more likely if we're a Premier League club? Is it even possible anyone would be crazy enough to buy us in that situation if we're stuck in the Championship or potentially worse? Does anyone really want to be watching us in the Championship also? It worked wonders for us last time and I enjoyed it but that was probably exclusively because we won almost every game. There's no guarantee we'd come back up first time or even how bad it could be for us if we go down. We're already being widely ridiculed as a club from top to bottom, getting relegated is only going to make us look like bigger bellends for everyone to scoff at. For me if we stay up there's still hope things could be fixed, I don't see how going down would solve anything. The debt is £250m? Since when? It's what the media say because they always include the purchase price.

  10. West Ham supposedly want Moyes and they will pay him mega money so no chance he will come here.
  11. The club have got themselves in such a mess. They have spent how long planning their recruitment for the Summer and all those plans will have to be shelved if we get relegated. I bet there is not one player on their list that would be suitable for the Championship and they probably haven't scouted any such player anyway. So they are going to have to draw up a whole new list of players syuitable for the Championship that they can't spend 3 years scouting beforehand.
  12. Also says we have agreed a fee with the club but nothing with the player who wants Champions League football.
  13. You have all the players who know are leaving and those you expect to leave and now the ones you assumed would be here next year wanting out. At this rate, there will be no one left.
  14. Well they certainly will be considerably lower than they were last time.

If the club have really waited all these months for McLaren only for him to turn them down and for the club to get relegated as a result .................

If we do get relegated then not going will certainly have more of an impact on the club than it would do if we stayed up.

Stay up - McLaren keeps us in mid-table mediocrity Relegated - McLaren keeps us safely in the top half of the Championship

Was thinking the same thing. And I'd have no problem with that. In fact...it would be fair enough And if he is not prepared to come in a few weeks earlier when he is really needed, then he needn't bother coming at all.

If he talks as much in the dressing room as he does to the press, I am not surprised the players have stopped listening. In every way, Carver is behaving more like the fan he keeps telling everyone he is than a manager.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastles-john-carver-suspects-players-5631386? Newcastle's John Carver suspects players are ignoring him following EIGHTH straight defeat "Sources on Tyneside were insisting Carver remains in charge, despite slaughtering his players after their eighth defeat in a row. Owner Mike Ashley and MD Lee Charnley now have to decide whether emergency action is required, or if Carver can get the one win that should earn safety. McClaren, whose side won just two of their last 13 games, will have talks with his chairman this week about his future. However, a swift switch to Newcastle is complicated by a £2million “transfer fee”, and the season only having three games left." So they would prefer to gamble rather than pay £2m.
  22. We got rid of Ben Arfa because the captain complained he was unprofessional and because he did not track back. He is not setting a good example himself these days to his teammates and there is no easy scapegoat now to point the finger at as the defence goes from bad to worse and the lack of professionalism permeates throughout the team.

McLaren has failed for two years running to get Derby promoted - probably not the best choice if we get relegated.

Pardew was reported to one of the lowest paid managers in the Premier League and indeed the Championship when he was here so you can't imagine the coaching staff will be on that much. I am sure that Pardew's compensation would be more or less enough to pay all three off. But Ashley never looks ahead - it is always about the balance sheet in the here and now - and never speculates (even moderately) to accumulate. False economy as always.
  25. I am not sure of that. Carver accused him of deliberately trying to get himself sent off because he wasn't up for the battle so he is defending himself against those accusations.
