We have to realise now that unless they getting value for money the board wont sanction a transfer, which is how it should be done, we could have spent 14 million on fletcher or loan with 17 mil agreed fee for carrol but that would have been stupid.

Thought he looked decent, that cushioned header to lay off for someone (cant remember who now) was something you wouldnt normally see from a 17 year old making his debut. Made some decent runs and looked like he had a decent touch. He certainly has potential but its up to the coaches and himself to realise that potential. He could be anything from a decent player to a quality player if he works hard enough and receives the correct guidance.

That's not really the point. We have changed, he hasn't performed. I just don't see the point in going back... if anything it will stunt our growth into a really good team. I don't think comparing signing Carroll to Cabaye or Ba or Cisse in terms of value is worthwhile. There is a link in terms of talent and track record representing price, but really its about what you can afford to pay for a player that will improve your squad and if you can get an equivalent improvement in the squad but spending on an another player. He's worth more to West Ham as they would find it difficult to attract a player that will be as effective due to being recently promoted (and shit) and they figure they could get him due to Nolan and Carrolls affair and also Allardyce must have had some interactions with him.
