  1. I like your team man. Think you guys will get better and better. lots of dynamic, athletic players. Think if Rudy started as the central figure ahead of Gabby, you would have looked much better. Time to let Agbonlahor just come off the bench. The man is just not productive enough. Looks like Ayew played wide rather than central, as he did last year in France. Noticed some decent play from him in the highlights. Hw do you think he did? I thought the match passed Ayew by, to be honest. The other signings did pretty well - esp Amavi and Gueye - though. I wish we'd sell Gabby. He contributed today with his running, but it's just not enough, really. Amavi is going to turn out to be a hell of a signing. I am taking nothing for granted, but I like the sort of signings he has made. I'm totally unarsed about selling Delph as Gueye looks such an obvious shoe-in to replace him. I'd like another option up front and another centre back still, but there's time. I also thought Micah Richards was immense today. Fuck knows what will happen, we might wind up 17th again, but thank fuck it can't be anything like as boring as last season and the one before. What do you think of Ciaran Clark? Always felt he was a bit dodgy in the past Was one of the few to come out of last season with any credit. With him it depends massively who he's playing alongside, though.

  3. He sounds like he's inhaled a load of helium, then waited five minutes, and then spoken. He sounds like the bloke in I'm Alan Partridge that speaks through the thing he has to hold up to his throat Or Gerry Adams in The Day Today.
  4. Nah, so many new players, barely played together. It's 45 minutes of football. Not really much to draw from that, and not much to draw from the second half, either, I'm just glad it isn't going to be like it was last year. FWIW I think it would have been tricky for whoever had got drawn to play there today.

  6. I have to say, I am also starting to think there might be something to Sherwood beyond the wide boy front. Spotted he needed to change something today, and did it. That's exactly the sort of thing Lambert would never have done.
  7. I think people here have taken to him mostly because he's a bit Carewish. Good performance in the second half today. Amavi looks absolutely class, Gueye too, and Veretout did OK. The game seemed to pass Ayew by, though. I am just so glad we've shipped out some of the utter fucking dross. Sixteen of them out this summer. That's what we needed, basically, a colonic irrigation. I hope we fuck off some more shit the next two weeks or so - N'Zogbia being one of them.
  8. Here is a tip off for you. Pretty soon, we'll all be sick to the tits of the media love-in for Bournemouth. Already I've read reports of our game which make them sound like Real Madrid. I watched the whole match, and am as cynical about my own team as anyone is, but fuck me, I thought Bournemouth were gash. They reminded me of Lambert's final season - plenty of possession in their own half ending up in hopeful long balls because they didn't know what else to do. Pretty much constant, hopeful, long diagonal balls. I'll flag up this post come the end of the season, because I guarantee we're all going to get sick of the media slavering over them.
  9. Absolute belting header from Gestede, that.
  10. Anyone else angered by the failure to remember "i before e except after c" as demonstrated in this?
  11. Sounds like he'll fit in here just perfectly.
  12. Why is Martin O'Neill doing their medicals? I can't believe Martin O'Neill has even heard of Spain, let alone worked there as a doctor.
  13. Jordan Veretout signs = Wahey! Rudy Gestede signs = slightly smaller wahey! Nathan Baker signs new contract = meh.
  14. The other day, West Brom offer us a risible 2m for Ciaran Clark (who has just had his best season with us). We have apparently just offered them 1m for Lescott. Clearly Tim loves his bantz
  15. Veretout spotted stretching a shirt at Villa Park. Twitter really has transformed transfer windows.
  16. I HATE Man United, so it hurts to say this, but those shirts are absolutely excellent.
  17. As I said the other day, the thing I am impressed with so far is that we've clearly been working on a list of players we'd decided on a while back. It is almost - almost - as if, for the first time since Lerner bought us, we've started to realise that to make the most of your money, you need to be clever about who you buy. I can barely begin to explain properly how much I wish we'd been a proper set-up when Lerner turned up and MON started spunking huge sums on meh players.
  18. Usually, when a team gets signed up to wear Nike shirts (rather than paying them to do so), as we did five years ago, people get excited. What actually happens, though, is if you're not one of their most important handful of clubs - (which then, in the UK, was Arsenal and United plus the obvious foreign clubs, you get a distinctly less impressive deal. They produced some really good kits for us, that's true, but they also fobbed a lot of templated shit on to us as well. A few years ago we had a home shirt from them with a sort of check-ish pattern down the sides. Turned out to be a template of a Lens (I think) top from a few years before. Not only that, but one season they didn't get the home kits on sale until December - they'd fucked up the manufacture and the club rejected them and sent them all back to them, they were so shoddy. Arsenal and your Puma kits, if I am honest, I find horrible (especially Arsenal's), but I wouldn't assume the deal is much better anywhere else unless you're one of their most important accounts.
  19. That's a brilliant idea.
  20. I'm just throwing names onto the pitch and not really thinking about positions. I agree re Richards. I am not massively convinced at all with him at CB. He's done ok in preseason, but remains to be seen how that pans out.
  21. "Disapproval" http://blog.vh1.com/files/2007/07/kells_disapproving.gif Is "disapprovement" not a word then? Not in the sense of English as spoken by the Queen and her subjects. Maybe the Americans use it, mind.
  22. They're going to be confuse and struggle to decide who to lay into first, the poster using "use" that way, or me being vaguely optimistic.

  24. I read about it last night, but have no idea if it is true. Apparently came from a journalist in La Coruna (saying Deportivo had failed to sign him as he is coming to us). Might be a decent punt if he's still physically realistic. We're signing a lot of real promise, we could do with a few more experienced players. Interesting season ahead for use like, some exciting signings plus more to come, pressure on Sherwood in his first full season. Any idea how you will line up assuming you secure your targets? Maybe: Guzan Hutton - Clark - Richards - Amavi Sanchez Westwood Gil or Grealish - Veretout - Ayew Gestede / Adebayor / Kozak
