To be fair, Shola's best performances for NUFC tended to come in the Europa League and against European teams in pre-season. He always seemed to score against European teams.
-
Well Shola must have been telling the truth when he said he wanted to play every week. I imagine he'll start every game he's fit. He made his money at NUFC and he now wants to play.
-
We are desperate for wingers. The fact Aarons has decent pace is also a huge bonus. It would be great if he does well and starts getting in the first team.
-
He doesn't help his case sometimes. His defending for Schalke's goal was pathetic.
-
He hasn't had many minutes in pre season. Looks like those rumours of the club looking to sell him could be true. Either that or he's injured again. He isn't in the squad for Germany and he didn't play against Sheffield Wednesday.
-
I haven't read many people complaining about Jonas or Obertan being ostracised.
-
I'm sure the club could put out a lot of true stories about Ben Arfa if they wanted to. For example, they've never officially commented on the story from last season when Colo and the like weren't happy that Ben Arfa got back into the team. They didn't comment on the dressing room bust up. The fact is, for whatever reason Ben Arfa is finished at NUFC. I'd think less of him if he decided to waste a year of his playing career sitting out the last year of his contract. I definitely don't think Ben Arfa is blameless. He has fallen out with every manager he has ever played for. Ironically Pardew probably got more out of Ben Arfa that his previous managers did.
-
I'm sure Ben Arfa did return overweight. Why lie about it when NUFC/Pardew want Ben Arfa gone anyway? He could have come back fighting fit and they'd still want him gone. I'd rather he left and was replaced. He isn't going to play and he won't be getting a new contract. Either way he'll be gone in a year at the latest.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/gossip/ Monaco loaned him out as soon as they bought him last January. If it is true that they are willing to loan him out for this season why did they sign him in the first place? They obviously have no intention to play him. The likes of Monaco, Chelsea and Man City are ruining football by buying players they don't even need or intend to use.
-
People were saying Liverpool would be in for him. It is clear that Ben Arfa has been told he has no future at NUFC and he has been told to find another club. It wouldn't be that difficult for a side who want Ben Arfa to get him (that isn't taking Ben Arfa's wage demands and choice of club/league into account). Ben Arfa has fallen out with every manager he has ever played for. That must be off putting to other clubs. It's obvious Pardew/NUFC want Ben Arfa out. As Pardew isn't going anywhere it is in the interest of all parties for Ben Arfa to move on. He is in the last year of his NUFC contract after all. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. It wouldn't do him any good staying at NUFC and not playing for a season. I'd rather he left (along with Jonas, Obertan and the like) to be replaced by players Pardew will play.
-
If the article mentioned Isla signing a 5 or 6 year deal with NUFC I could have believed it. The 4 year deal part of the story makes me doubt it is true.
-
Remy's form slipped the more he grew his hair. The reverse Samson if you will.
-
Exactly. It will have been a scientific weight test of his fat and muscle.
-
Fair enough but it does say something when there are only a handful of good moments to pick from. His highlight reel for NUFC is short.
-
Didn't we lose the handful of games he played well in? He never really turned a game. He never had much impact. He always seemed to want too much time on the ball. He was invisible when he played on the wing. He has two years left on his contract so at least if he does well on loan NUFC may get a fee for him. Hopefully Jonas and Obertan are next and we get a replacement or two.
-
Players can get injured in training but playing in matches increases the chances of picking up an injury.
-
It's pretty standard, I think. Which is weird, surely keeping the players fitness up-ish, and they're experience can only help the youngsters in the U21's. And why when Marv was first signed but not fit, did he play for the U21's to get some fitness, now Pardew wants him out he gets no playing time at any level. Something is just not right. NUFC don't want any of them to pick up a bad injury which would stop them moving on. They are training, just not playing in friendlies.
-
Then the club fine will stand and will probably be made public knowledge soon enough. If he is fined I doubt we'll hear about it from the club. Probably because making an official comment about a player being a problem doesn't help the club sell them.
-
Ben Arfa's claim that he put on 1.5 Kg of muscle and not fat will have quickly and easily been checked by the medical team.
-
"With the senior squad en route to New Zealand and outcasts Hatem Ben Arfa and Sylvain Marveaux nowhere to be seen" No. They are saying they weren't in the playing squad for this game. No Obertan or Gutierrez (has he even returned?) either. NUFC is no doubt trying to move them all on. NUFC won't want any of them picking up an injury.
-
http://www.nufc.com/ Not very inspiring reading.
-
At the moment the transfer business is mainly replacing players who have gone (Cabaye, Remy, Shola, Gosling and Debuchy (when he goes)). It will be interesting to see what happens if Marveaux, Obertan, Gutierrez and/or Ben Arfa are moved on (not to mention Mehdi Abeid, Shane Ferguson, Haris Vučkić or any of the other fringe players who may leave). Will any of them be replaced?
-
I doubt Yanga-Mbiwa would have been allowed to play for 90 minutes against Oldham if he is getting sold in the next week. Too much risk of picking up an injury and stopping the deal you would have thought.
-
His nickname should be "Dr. Nick" after 'The Simpsons' character Dr. Nick Riviera. £6m for a player Monaco are happy to sell? I thought Monaco had infinite money. If ever there was a club NUFC could low ball you'd think it would be them.
