Hull City vs Newcastle United - Sat 1st March @15:00 (not on TV)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Andymc1's topic in Football
Yanga-Mbiwa did himself no favours in the last game he played. People would have wanted Steven Taylor executed if he'd done the ridiculous foul Mapou did on Samuel Et'o. Taylor has not played well in the recent games alongside Williamson. I'd play Yanga-Mbiwa against Hull purely because he had a few good games alongside Williamson earlier in the season. -
It was more of a head butt than the one Remy got a 3 game ban for.
-
When Pardew talks of having money to spend in the Summer, it's worth remembering Remy (who NUFC may or may not have an agreement with QPR to buy for £8m but the final decision is Remy's anyway) and de Jong (isn't £8m the rumoured pre-arranged purchase cost?) would cost £16m of the Summer budget (before wages) just for NUFC to stand still.
-
http://www.nufc.com/ The fact that Vuckic and Ferguson aren't getting games at their loan clubs means they have no chance of ever making the NUFC team. It doesn't look too good for Campbell either.

The PL u21 league is being replaced with an u23 from next season. It's reckoned to help bridge the gap between the Academy and the 1st team. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10637493/Premier-League-chief-Richard-Scudamores-crusade-to-lift-England-football.html That article says Newcastle have Category 1 Academy status. It still hasn't been officially confirmed by NUFC has it?

Pardew has stopped playing Shola. Even if Pardew wanted to keep Shola (which I don't believe he does as he will want a better striker to call on), Pardew wanted to keep Perch but Perch was sold. Shola does not do a job any more. It doesn't matter how cheap he is, the fact that he is unfit for purpose means there is no sense in keeping him. People are just looking for something else to worry about. There is plenty to worry about before worrying that Shola will get a new contract when the club has made no indication that they will give him a new contract.
-
This is the best time as any so far for him to be moved on, but with De Jong not yet permanent, Remy highly likely to leave and Cisse being so s*** he should leave, I can't see Ashley really sanctioning the signing of 3 or 4 first team strikers. Can see the "1 more year for Shola" being the cheap option which they will take. Really hope not like, I don't want Shola here anymore. That is why on paper Gomis would seem to be a good fit, especially from Mike Ashley's "value for money" approach. Gomis would be a "free" transfer (excluding signing on fee and agent fees). Gomis will no doubt want more wages than Shola but Gomis is around 3 years younger and has scored more goals this season than Shola has for years. Carlton Cole would have been better than Shola. No matter how low Ashley aims his sights it wouldn't be difficult to replace Shola with a better player. Well he got the current contract extension despite being useless so people's fears are justified Shola is even more useless now than he was 3 years ago. 3 years ago he scored the occasional goal.

Jonas Gutierrez contract runs out in Summer 2015. My view is Mike Ashley is going to have to spend big this Summer (or sell the club to someone who will). If he doesn't there is a good chance NUFC will be relegated. £70m TV money is reliant on being in the Premiership. It would be cheaper for Mike Ashley to spend £69m on players and wages in the Summer than to risk relegation. NUFC is an asset to Ashley. If NUFC get relegated the value of his asset will plummet. Logic dictates that he has to spend big. I acknowledge logic doesn't always seem to come into Ashley's thinking so he may not spend big. We need fire power and that costs big money. We need to buy strikers. We need to buy goal scoring and creating midfielders. We need to buy players who can take a free kick. They better be working on those deals now. Don't wait until the transfer window has been open a few weeks. Arrange to buy Rémy Cabella AND Clement Grenier before the transfer window opens. If we can't buy them move on to someone else off Graham Carr's list.
-
Who is the person people think will offer Shola a new contract?
-
Why does anyone think Shola is going to get another contract? Don't forget Mike Ashley has to pay the wages and he will see that Shola doesn't play and when he has played he hasn't been good. Shola hasn't scored for over a season. Graham Carr will probably also have a say and I can't imagine he rates Shola. Pardew doesn't get to make the final transfer decisions so I don't see why he'd be allowed to keep Shola (not that he even wants to seeing as he isn't playing him). Also, I'm sure Pardew would also want a better striker to play than Shola. Even Pardew isn't playing Shola now.

Laughing and smiling while talking with Tottenham players in the centre circle after he'd just captained NUFC to pathetic a 0 - 4 home defeat didn't go down well with me.
-
That will teach me not to skim read.
-
Don't forget Jonas Gutierrez and Romain Amalfitano. NUFC obviously don't want to keep either of them. I think the club would be happy to get rid of most of them. They'll see how Curtis Good, Adam Campbell and James Tavernier get on during their loans but will any of them ever be Premier League quality?

Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur - 12/02/14 @ 19:45 (No TV)

This is what I hope for every single week but Pardew blatantly won't. The only ways for Taylor to stop starting games involve: - Coloccini coming back from injury - Taylor getting injured/suspended Pardew's favouritism strikes again. Taylor hadn't been getting any game time until Coloccini got injured. Yanga-Mbiwa put in the opposite of a "pick me" performance against Chelsea. That foul he did on Eto'o was ridiculous. -
ICNewcastle (The Chronicle & The Journal) said Willie Donachie won't be replaced until the Summer.
-
Scored another goal today. It was a penalty. Some club is going to get a relative bargain in the Summer.
-
My point is if he doesn't bother he could well be kissing goodbye to the £70m TV money and and his asset (the club) will be hugely devalued by being relegated. If all he cares about is staying in the Premier League then he's going to have to spend money to do that. If he doesn't then we'll probably suffer due to his stupidity.
-
I assume the clubs receive the money at the end of the season. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10072297/New-Premier-League-TV-deal-promises-100m-prize-money-for-next-seasons-title-winners.html

I know Mike Ashley likes to gamble but he could well be gambling with NUFC's Premier League status if we don't buy quite a few decent players in the Summer. Like I said the other day, he'll risk losing the £70m TV income if he doesn't spend in the Summer.

EA SPORTS STATS taken from http://www.true-faith.co.uk/true-faith-ea-sports-stats-chelsea-v-newcastle-united/ If ever there was something to prove the saying "Lies, damn lies and statistics" it's this stats round up of our performance against Sunderland: -
-
I've just checked and you are correct. In 2009-2010 he scored 13 league goals and 2 in the cup. His best season by far goal scoring wise. His next best season was 7 goals in all competitions (he's currently on 7 goals this season too).
-
When (if?) the club go shopping in the Summer one of the main criteria should be getting players who have a track record of regularly scoring goals. Never mind getting a defensive midfielder because he happens to be available at a bargain price, buy goal scorers. Most of the players we have bought in the last few years did not have a history of being goal scorers. Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Anita, Marveaux and even Cabaye had never scored 10 goals in a season for their previous clubs. Goals win games (and entertain the fans). We also need players who can take a decent set piece. We win a free kick now and expect little from it. There once was a time where we'd have Robert, Solano and Shearer standing over a free kick. Ryan Taylor is our only free kick specialist now Cabaye has gone. We need wingers who can whip crosses in to the danger areas. We haven't had players like that for years.
