West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Pilko's topic in Football
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_6708608,00.html Typical media trying to drag it out. Maybe it will take Newcastle issuing the response "Fuck off" for them to get the message. -
He's got to be worth the £1m NUFC have supposedly offered Birmingham for him (I'd prefer to sign him for free in the Summer though). That's the sort of money we paid for Perch. £1m for a player with reasonable Premier League experience isn't a bad price.

Europe: would you take, er, 5th place right now?
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to kirkwdavis2001's topic in Football
If (and it's a big "If") we managed to qualify for Europe would you attend the matches? Even when we were in the Champions League the ground was rarely full. I would love us to qualify for Europe as it brings in more money for the club and makes attracting better players easier. Having said that, the games themselves don't seem to have much more attraction to the home fans than any other cup. -

I don't know the ins and outs of a Premier League footballer's medical but being able to run probably comes into it. A club may buy a player with an injury but that doesn't mean they passed the medical. Ba failed his medical at Stoke but West Ham ended up buying him. -

For one thing, I don't think he'd pass a medical at the moment! I don't believe NUFC will sell (if this offer is even true). If we sold him for £25m and had all that money to buy a replacement who could we get? Carroll loves Newcastle. Persuading another striker of quality to come to Newcastle wouldn't be easy. We aren't in Europe, we have just been promoted, we aren't guaranteed to stay up (but I think we will), the club won't pay crazy wages any more, etc. -
The January transfer window is always the same. Not much 'good' business gets done. It tends to be loans, panic buys or Chelsea and Man City flexing their financial muscles. Hardly any Premier League clubs have done any business. £60m spent so far in the Premier League and £18m to £24m of that was Bent and £27m was Dzeko. The last day of the window will be the busy one.

I can't see Larsson agreeing to that deal unless he's happy with the option of going to Aston Villa. He could wait until Summer and then he could take his pick. There's a good chance Newcastle, Sunderland and Aston Villa would be interested in him for a start. No fee usually means a bigger signing on fee and/or higher wages. Larsson's the one with the power in this situation.

Andy Gray Sacked by Sky; Richard Keys resigns - join TalkSport
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Anderson's topic in Football
Laughable that some people are upset by them leaving. Did you cry when Robbie left Take That? I can't stand pundits or commentators. They bring nothing to the table. If there was a choice, which would people rather watch: - 1. The match with no commentary, just the noise from inside the stadium. 2. The match with 'expert' opinion from pundits and commentators. -

That's fair enough but the trial by tv is for the viewers consumption, who knows what their real views were? Anyway my view is only as a paying subscriber - I don't like either Keys or Gray personally but I far prefer to watch them if the alternatives are Alan Smith, Peter Graves or any other non-de script. With any luck Jeff Stelling will get Keys job. As for the co-commentators the rest are all shit. Who decides that the top 4 are off limits when it comes to replays of dodgy fouls, etc? I don't know who it is but it certainly seems to be the case. I don't really like any of the presenters or commentators. All they ever do is spout clichés and say crap they read out of the paper as if it was fact. If someone at the match talked through the whole game like commentators do you'd lamp them. Just because their replacements may be crap it doesn't mean they don't deserve the boot. As you say though, Jeff Stelling would be much better than Keys. People actually like Jeff Stelling. -
Nice bit of shit-stirring from Taggart: - You'll have to up that transfer bid a bit more now Liverpool.

Keys and Gray were happy to take the moral high ground and get our players banned using their Trial by TV show. I have to say, I'm enjoying the boot being on the other foot and watching it kick the shit out of them. -

Sky - You smashed it? Richard Keys - What? Sky - Your career? -
Like I've said previously, I hope he's learning English during his rehabilitation, especially now he's signed for the club.

I couldn't see Gray just going to ground and taking it tbh. Nor should he. That's a risky move for Gray as Sky TV will no doubt dig out every previously unbroadcast clip they've got of him being a twat. -

Today at work I pulled my shirt out the front of my trousers then asked a female colleague to help me tuck it in again (while I laughed). Doesn't everyone do this? PS I work on the set of a 'Carry On' film in the 1970s. -

I love the grinning picture of Andy Gray that Sky use to illustrate the story of them sacking him: - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6701186,00.html -

Generally, women tend not to like the use of the 'C' word but they don't tend to have a problem with the penis related rude words. That's sexist! I do wonder why you refer to Richard Keys as "Keysie". Is he a mate of yours or something? Is Steven Gerrard "Stevie G" to you too? -

Depends where you work I suppose. Never mind that, I want to know how Richard Keys having a "Fit" daughter (I wonder if she's inherited her dads hair gene) makes him less sexist. -

What is'nt funny? Two blokes saying a textbook line about women & football. Your right its not spine tingly funny but it is hardly worth getting in a tiz about it. I have read K.Brady diary in The Sun a few times & she trots out stereotypical stuff about men in boardrooms, men in football (very rarely names these people though) but guess what I don't give a shit about that either as it is good copy for the 2mins it takes to read her article. I mean really is a serial womaniser like Gray a sexist? He fucking loves them. Is Keysie who is married & has a fit daughter really anti-women? I think not. Can they come across like smug cunts? Aye. If "Keysie" (Cuntsie more like it) had a daughter who wasn't fit would that make him anti-women? Fact is, if any of us said the sort of thing they said at work we'd at the very least be getting a bollocking. -

Ron Atkinson got crucified for a "private" comment so hopefully the same will happen to these two. Someone should do a nanosecond by nanosecond analysis of the recording pointing out each mistake Keys and Gray make. It's how Gray makes his living so it would be good to see someone use hindsight advice on him. -
In a way it's nice to see Blackburn weren't wrong in getting rid of Allardyce. All the media slagged off the new Blackburn owners saying they were wrong to get rid of Sam as he would keep them up. Well now it looks like they will without having to employ that oaf. Do they still play like an Allardyce team?

It's ironic that Richard Keys and Andy Gray criticise these women when they themselves are a pair of cunts. -

Europe: would you take, er, 5th place right now?
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to kirkwdavis2001's topic in Football
Far too early to even consider it. Our current squad is too thin to cope with the League and the two cup competitions. If we made Europe I certainly wouldn't complain though. It would certainly be a carrot to help us attract new players.
