When we last played Wolves MOTD compiled what they though was a hilarious clips collection of Wolves players kicking the shit out of Barton. In hindsight Newcastle should have asked the FA to investigate.
  2. I'm convinced Perch is a real chance of starting in CM. Nothing to support that, of course, more a sense of dread... Not for 3 games he won't considering he got sent off with a straight red card in the reserves game against Man U.
  3. If I was NUFC I'd make an official complaint to the FA that the video evidence 'rule' doesn't seem to apply to Newcastle unless it is being used against our players. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2011/03/21/cowardly-ricardo-fuller-lunge-is-blasted-72703-28375191/
  4. Can't find anything. I read that to mean NUFC don't pay Ireland's wages until he is fit to play. Obviously we also don't play Ireland until he is fit so as to not send him back to Aston Villa crocked.
  5. According to the Mirror, NUFC did go for him on the last day of the transfer window in January but his move to Blackpool was happening at the same time. If NUFC wanted him I don't know why they waited to the last day. http://www.nufc.com/2010-11html/2011-01robrum.html

  9. I don't mind Ben Arfa doing his rehabilitation in France but I'll be annoyed if he isn't using this time to learn English.

Harper's contract ends in Summer 2012 so there's a possibility next season could be his last at NUFC. Having said that, would Forster and Krul be happy to compete with each other to be Number 1? I can also see one of them being sold. Both their contracts run until Summer 2014. Ole Soderberg's contract runs to Summer 2012. http://www.nufc.com/2010-11html/squad.html

  12. Assuming NUFC stay up in the Premiership, who would you like to see get promoted from the Championship? QPR look like they will be promoted. It would be good if a London club got relegated from the Premiership as there are already 5 London clubs in the Premiership (Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Fulham and West Ham). I wouldn't want a Welsh team in the Premiership so that's Cardiff and Swansea out. Why? Mainly because of the travel distance for our fans and the fact that a lot of Welsh fans will treat each away match as a raiding party into England (a bit like when Celtic or Rangers play a 'friendly' in England). I'd like Leeds to get promoted. They seem to get a decent crowd even though they've been through tough times. Better to see a full ground for Premiership games rather than the empty seats at places like Wigan. I suppose Nottingham Forest would be my other pick purely from a history point of view. 17. Ranger could have been really useful coming on as an impact sub in that game. Typical that he is injured. 14 days until our next game. We could really do with Barton, Nolan, Ranger, Ireland, etc recovering from injury in that time.
  18. Based on his age and what he has done over the course of his tenure, it is more than fair however He knows that he can get a better contract at the likes of Birmingham, Villa and West Ham (should they stay up) Can he though? Like I said before, the 2 year contract kicks in at the end of his current contract which ends in Summer 2012. Is another club really going to buy him off NUFC this Summer and give him a 3 or more year contract on more money than NUFC pay him?
  19. My point was that I wouldn't give him a 3, 4 or 5 year contract now. If he's still playing well at 31 (and 9 months) offer him a new contract then. If he goes off the boil we don't want to be stuck with him on a big contract for multiple years.
  20. Like I said in the Realistic Transfers thread, was our Summer transfer budget going to be £0.00 until Carroll was sold? I highly doubt it. I also doubt NUFC will spend anywhere near £30m in the Summer. We will probably get some free players like Larsson and/or Elmander mixed with 'good value' buys with potential. It's not the money NUFC spend but the quality we bring in that matters. Williamson and Tiote are just two examples of cheap purchases who have increased in value. I dare say there will be some players leaving in the Summer too and the money we get for them will be added to the transfer budget. E.g. Wayne Routledge sold to QPR, replaced by Larsson for free and the Routledge fee goes into the transfer pot.
  21. I think the winner gets a smaller replica. The huge original stays at Deportivo.
  22. Was Rooney condemned with a 'trial by TV' on MOTD on Saturday then?
  23. I wonder if Larsson will sign a new contract with Birmingham now they are in Europe next season? I guess he'll at least wait to see if they are still going to be in the Premiership before deciding.
  24. If we finish 7th and that ends up not qualifying for Europe we can moan then. If we don't finish 7th it makes no difference to us who won the Carling cup.
