If it's José Ángel, he's very promising but dunno if it's too early for him to move abroad. Hasn't had a full season as first choice yet. Yes it was. Found it: - Sure, if not too expensive that is.

There was a newspaper story about Newcastle being interested in a Spanish left back player during the last transfer window (it may even be in this thread). I guess it could well have been true.

My belief that players had any real loyalty to a club died when Carroll put his transfer request in. If José Enrique is looking to leave in the Summer hopefully he'll keep trying to impress other clubs by putting in decent performances for us so we climb the league (which in turn will help the club get more money in transfer fee for him). What happens if we finish above Liverpool I wonder?

Europe: would you take, er, 5th place right now?

For all the Mike Ashley haters, imagine how much more attractive it makes Newcastle as a club to buy if we were in Europe. -

Not sure about Simpson but just assumed it was because he was booked. ( Guess he wasn't booked, thought he was. ) Fuck knaa's maybe was injured then, I hope he's back for Tuesday anyway. He went off injured. Pardew said today that Simpson had cramp and that's why he was taken off. He said he would be back for the Birmingham game: - http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2011/02/14/liverpool-keep-eye-on-superb-jose-enrique-72703-28166730/ -
http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20110202/boss-we-can-bring-the-best-out-of-stephen_2281670_2282678 I read that to mean NUFC don't pay Ireland's wages until he is fit to play. Obviously we also don't play Ireland until he is fit so as to not send him back to Aston Villa crocked.

Sturridge has got Drogba, Torres, Anelka and Kalou ahead of him at the moment. Fair enough that Drogba and Anelka are getting on in years but would Chelsea not just go out and buy an expensive striker to replace them rather than Sturridge? Will Sturridge be willing to wait and find out? I don't know if Sturridge would be a realistic option for us.
-
Sturridge is on big money at Chelsea. He wanted something like £60k a week when he was at City and they refused so he moved to Chelsea. Oh OK. Maybe playing week in week out will make him more willing to take a pay cut rather than go back to sitting on the bench (if he's lucky) for Chelsea? Another reason why squads should be limited. The top clubs buy up a lot of players, put them all on high wages then rarely play some of them. Those players then want to leave to get games but don't want to take huge pay cuts.
-
Daniel Sturridge? I don't know if NUFC were interested in him but quite a few fans wanted him on loan. From the looks of him so far at Bolton he would have come in handy. Would Chelsea be willing to sell him? He would probably be 5th choice at Chelsea so maybe he'd just want to leave regardless. £10m bid maybe? He fits the NUFC recruitment policy as he's only 21. I doubt he's on massive wages (but you never know with Chelsea) so there's a possibility he wouldn't have to take a pay cut to come to us.

Mou certainly prefers Adebayor to him, can see him going this summer. He prefers to go hunting with a dog rather than a cat. I bet that comment from Jose was a great confidence booster for Benzema!

When he signed it was said he was two weeks away from fitness. Not long after I'm sure 5 weeks away from fitness was then mentioned. Based on that I guess he's 3 weeks away from fitness. Ireland seems like the most pointless signing ever. By the time he's fit and at 100% efficiency we'll probably be all but mathematically safe. With Barton and Tiote getting booked (rightly or wrongly) almost every game we'll need another body in midfield when they sit out their two game bans. I believe Newcastle had some arrangement with Aston Villa that we only pay Ireland when he is fit to play. -

Having seen our bench against Blackburn we have very few options when it comes to squad rotation. Steve and Ryan Taylor are due back soon. Apart from them it's a few weeks until Ireland is due to be fit. I guess the only other players likely to be back before the end of the season are Ameobi and Ben Arfa. Why did Simpson go off against Blackburn? Injured? I suppose Perch will take Simpson's place and there will be no changes to the starting 11 apart from that. I guess we'll see Kuqi and Ranger come on earlier than they did against Blackburn. -
He looks like: - http://favoniangamers.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/grand_theft_auto_iv.jpg

Lovenkrands was unlucky not to score. I thought he played OK. The fact is Blackburn went out to keep a clean sheet. None of our players had enough quality in the final third. You can blame the strikers if you want but nobody else managed to have a decent shot (apart from Colo's shot from the corner). We had a lot of crosses and corners which came to very little. Blackburn are a team of tall players so beating them in the air isn't easy.

He should also wear that gum shield he wore a few seasons ago and a Petr Cech style hat.

Tiote is now one yellow card off a two game suspension! At least we didn't lose to a late sucker punch after dominating the game. We need a midfielder who is willing to shoot. On the positive side, we've got a lot of injured players to come back and we are still managing to hold our own in the league.
