The above reads more like the Sunday Sun taking NUFC contacting newspapers to deny numerous transfer stories as proof that “no capital outlay” does mean no cash signings.

Stressing the importance of strikers getting 20 goals, albeit in the Championship. MacDonald perpetuating the myth that you need a 20 goal a season striker to survive. Yes it would be great to have one but there were only 5 players last season who scored over 20 in the league. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/top_scorers/default.stm Like I said earlier, the clubs we will be competing against aren't exactly stuffed full of goal machines: -

Maybe Lovenkrands had a better goals per minutes rate than Owen. But Owen scored 8 goals and Lovenkrands only 3. Memory fade. Must have been the goals per minute I was remembering.
-
In the 2008/2009 season Lovenkrands scored more goals than Owen in less pitch time. Do people think that Blackpool, West Brom, Wolves, Wigan, West Ham, Bolton, Stoke and Blackburn have strikers that are better than our current striker options? Those teams are the teams we are realistically going to be competing against next season.

Yes and no. If NUFC offer a contract to a player who is out of contract and they say they want a signing on fee and higher wages due to them not costing a transfer fee NUFC can say no. We want players who want to play for us. If a player is more interested in the money side than the playing side we don't want them. An out of contract player doesn't have to demand a signing on fee or higher than their usual rate wages. I understand everyone is out to get the best for themselves but if a player would rather sign for e.g. West Brom rather than us because of money it's probably not a player we want. We've had enough of the mercenaries.

Seeing as NUFC can't be sponsored by oxygen I hope Northumbrian Water sponsor us. I would love to see how long the Mackems could boycott water for.

Not Cardiff. I don't agree with Welsh sides playing in the English leagues so definitely wouldn't want them in the Premiership. Their fans cause trouble when they meet the English (just like Rangers and Celtic) and there would be problems at every one of their games. Wales is a long trip for our away fans. Forest deserve to go up as they finished third but that rarely translates into winning the play off. Blackpool would be my choice. As others have said, they'd be almost guaranteed to get relegated so that's one less relegation place for us to be concerned with.

Another game hyped up and failing to deliver.

Toon owner is region's richest man (SPLASH THE CASH ASH)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Thespence's topic in Football
Since when has Mike Ashley lived in the North East? He doesn't therefore he shouldn't be on the 'North East Rich List'. -
he was a good young player for them, we just fucked him up like we have done to soo many young players i.e. viana Sorry but you're talking bollocks. One season (Xisco) at Newcastle doesn't permanently turn a good player into a bad one. As for Viana, he was over hyped. If he was any good he'd have done well somewhere after leaving us. He hasn't.
-
That's £5.7m we'll never get back. Thanks again Dennis Wise. I remember reading when Newcastle bought Xisco that fans of Deportivo La Coruña being annoyed that they'd sold him to us! I bet they don't feel that way now.

Plymouth Argyle v Newcastle United - Monday 19th April @ 7:45pm

There's also the small matter of us still needing a point to actually win the Championship first. I didn't realise it was such a gruelling ordeal for our professional players to sit on a coach! Ah I agree but wait and see, the fuss the players made last time about having to go by coach was a joke. That was because Ashley wouldn't pay for the flight. That's not the case this time. Any player who refused to travel because it was by Coach should be fined a weeks wages. -

I'd rather we hammered Plymouth and then have the Championship cup presented after the Ipswich game (which we also win) in front of the sold out home crowd. Havn't they already said we'll get given the trophey tomorrow if we get the point? Don't know. I have read that the players want it to be presented after Ipswich (assuming we've won it by then). Don't see why the league would be so desperate to award the trophy the game we secure it rather than wait for a home game. -

News Of The World - Total transfer stories 1416, transfers stories where the transfer actually happened 177, Percentage correct 12.5%.
-
This website already does: - http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/ They keep track of all the rumours from the media and record the percentage of transfer stories that actually end up happening per media source.

Who do you want as our first game next season?
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to BlueStar's topic in Football
Agree. We want points on the board early and keep the winning mentality going as long as possible. Having said that, Man U tend to be slow starters for some reason so I'd rather play them before they hit their stride. -
If you believe the media Arsenal have been after N'Zogbia since the day Newcastle bought him. Shame they never actually got round to putting a bid in, even when he left us for Wigan. Arsenal are crying out for a left sided attacker n all. Rosicky is finished and Nasri is better in the middle. I'm not saying they don't need a left side attacker, it's just there have been rumours of Arsenal going for N'Zogbia for years. If they do end up buying him you have to wonder why they didn't buy him years ago.
