  1. I wonder if Hughton will be doing a bit of squad rotation again? R.Taylor in for Simpson or Guthrie? Smith hopefully replacing Butt. Carroll replacing Harewood. It's funny when Hughton mentions rotating the squad to keep players fresh. Enrique, S.Taylor or Colo never get rested as we don't have any real cover for them.

    Geremi

Always makes me laugh when people suggest selling him. He's on £60K a week and is a free agent at the end of the season. No other club would match his wages so to get rid of him we'd have to pay up his full contract and release him on a free. We may as well have him hang around the club until the end of his contract in case an emergency arises and we need to play him.
  3. Hopefully we'll win the Championship. After that, I hope the other two teams who get promoted are well supported teams. Nothing worse than seeing loads of empty seats at games. That's one of the things that pissed me off so much about our relegation. We're a well supported team with a near full capacity crowd most weeks while clubs with half empty grounds are in the Premiership.
  4. If Harewood's loan doesn't get extended, you can bet he'll go on loan to another Championship club. Maybe one of our promotion rivals. I have a feeling the club are hoping Xisco does well enough in Spain that some club there will buy him off us. I can't see that happening though.
  5. Maybe his loan doesn't have a recall clause. Man U could offer him a derisory contract just to ensure it goes to a tribunal.
  6. Reminds me of this: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8423241.stm expertlfcfan? Maybe Liverpool will be in 'Premier League 2' in the future the way they are playing!
  7. I see the hand ball the Middlesbrough player did in their penalty area, blocking Nolan's shot has been erased from history in the match reports. It was wrongly decided Ranger was offside. Middlesbrough's complaint about Taylor's hand ball seems to still count though. Our worst spell this season came after we thrashed Ipswich. Other teams have thrashed other teams but aren't 10 points clear at the top. We have the desire to thrash the whole league after 46 games, and the intelligence to make it happen. In other words (i.e. cliches) it is a marathon, not a sprint. We have Christmas coming up there is no point tiring ourselves out before that period has even started. I'm not complaining, but what I'm saying is if we ever have to hit top gear we might not be able to as we haven't had to so far. Can we hit top gear or is what we are seeing the best the squad can do? Who knows? It's also one of the reasons why people struggle to see this squad survive in the Premiership.
  8. Result is what matters. I didn't think it was that bad, especially the second half. After we scored the second goal we coasted. A lot of people (including the players when interviewed) have said how we haven't had to hit top gear yet. I think we keep doing just enough to win most of the time. Score one goal and then try to hold on to it rather than chase more goals. It may not be pretty but it's working. I don't know if that's what the manager is telling them to do though. I can't see us thrashing anyone as we don't seem to have the desire to.
  9. Same here. Couldn't believe it when they mentioned Shearer not scoring that penalty against Sunderland. What has that got to do with Middlesbrough? Sad bastards.
  10. No one has said the pitch will be frozen. The pitch will more than likely be fine. The concern is more to do with the roads and paths.
  11. To think Harry Redknapp is furious about his players having a Xmas party when he is accused of trying to dodge paying his taxes.
  12. That doesn't explain how Duff can go from being someone with a piss weak inaccurate shot to someone who is lashing in goals. I bet a huge number of us would have turned our noses up at Roy Hodgson getting the Newcastle job a couple of seasons ago. It's very hard to predict accurately who'll be a successful manager at most clubs.
  13. Most of us said he was shit and yet, even before his recent hat-trick I kept reading bollocks in the media about "he's the man you want your chances to fall to" and "there's no one better than Michael Owen in taking chances". I imagine Man U fans who watch them regularly have seen him spurn numerous chances.
  14. Don't forget the death threats from 'fans' and 'fans' burning replicas of Gerrard's shirt the last time Gerrard was supposedly going to leave Liverpool. Will he put himself through that again?
  15. Duff scores again! He's probably one of Fulham's best players. How come he was usually shit for Newcastle yet is on fire for Fulham? Is it really all down to the manager and coaches?
  16. We obviously need another centre back as we only currently have Taylor and Colo but I can't help thinking Kilgallon won't be coming to Newcastle expecting to be cover.
  17. I definitely don't think we should look to keep him beyond the end of the season but that's not the question. As for being able to loan someone better, by the very nature of loans it's either youngsters loaned out for experience or established players who aren't getting a game at their current club. Not exactly the cream of the crop to choose from. At least Harewood is now contributing and has settled in the team. I've read he's on £25K a week at Aston Villa but I've no idea if Newcastle are paying all that.
  18. I would. He's scored a few important goals. Also, who knows what will happen to Carroll after his arrest so we may need the cover. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/12/18/marlon-harewood-attracts-outside-interest-61634-25419056/
  19. If Wolves had won the game there would be no interest from the FA about the team they put out. We all complained when Man U played their kids (and it was mainly their kids, not their reserves) in the last game of last season. Turned out Man U won and Newcastle lost so it didn't change anything. The only people who have a right to be upset are the Wolves fans who paid to watch it.
  20. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/8419826.stm No wonder Newcastle didn't manage to buy Schweinsteiger after selling Milner.
  21. Totally agree. The FA shouldn't have the authority to tell a manager who he should and shouldn't be picking. He's the manager and that's his decision. Ferguson played his kids on the last day of last season (they won but it was still a vastly changed and understrength side). I don't remember the FA chasing him about that.
  22. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,65468.30.html#quickreply Not only did he score, he was absolutely superb from start to finish. Our best player by far this season
  23. I'm not sure Alan knows the word "Did". He always says "Done" when the correct word to say would be "Did".
