Portsmouth v Sunderland is on Monday night. I agree that if Sunderland fail to win it gives us a better chance. Who knows if the Newcastle team will be good enough to take the chance if it comes along though.
-
If we go down: All of the out of contract players to leave: Cacapa Owen Viduka Possibly try to keep Edgar and Lovenkrands and maybe some of the youngsters. Try to sell: Ameobi Barton Alan Smith Duff Butt Geremi Will almost definitely leave: Colo Gutierrez Martins (Depending on how long he takes to recover from the groin operation he will be having at the end of the season) Bassong Try to keep: Guthrie S. Taylor Enrique Beye Will have relegation wage clauses in their contracts: Nolan R. Taylor

Portsmouth are now safe. Sunderland know if they win they are safe. It was in our hands but now we are relying on Portsmouth, Man U and Chelsea (both with Cup finals a few days after the last Premiership game) doing us a massive favour. Even if they do all that we still need at least a point at Aston Villa. Can it happen? We'll see but either way the next 7 days are going to be Hell!

All out attack. If Hull and/or Sunderland were losing I wouldn't trust our team to hold out for a draw/win. Shearer should register himself as a player for the last game if that's still possible. If we needed to hold on to the scoreline for the last 10 minutes I'd prefer it if it was him time wasting at the opposition corner flag.

Don't they keep cutting between games depending upon how results are going? When the fight for the title goes down to the last day, the Premier League has a helicopter with the Premiership trophy on board ready to fly to the winning team. On the last day of this season there is a bomber flying over the North East ready to drop the Relegation bomb on Sunderland, Hull or Newcastle.

You would if the film was utter, utter shite You'd wait until the last 10 minutes? You wouldn't go back every week expecting it to improve either!
-
We're not down yet.
-
Well for a start, the following are out of contract at the end of the season: - Cacapa Owen Edgar (May be worth keeping if we are in the Championship) Danquah Viduka Doninger Donaldson Godsmark Marwood Lovenkrands Gonzalez (Loan ends) http://www.nufc.com/2008-09html/squad.html Geremi Beye Butt Have a contract to the end of next season.

I never understand people who pay £25 to watch a match who walk off 10 minutes before the end to beat the rush. You wouldn't leave a cinema 10 minutes before the end of a film to beat the rush would you? You pay your money you take your choice though. Stay up or go down I'd imagine a lot of these earlier leavers won't be back next season. A lot of people seem to have had enough.

I think they tend to show all the matches 'that matter' on the last day don't they (or at least cut between them)?
-
Last season Fulham were 15 minutes from getting relegated and they pulled an unlikely escape off. Now look at them. It's not over yet. We still have a slim chance.
-
If we go down, all the players we want rid of will stay and the ones we want to keep will leave.
-
Back up from an 8 to a 9 for me. To not be relegated we have to get at least a draw away to Aston Villa and hope Man U (who will no doubt send out a shadow side) beat Hull away.

That's Ameobi's first appearance in the squad since the Stoke game. Ranger and Lua Lua dropped off the bench. -

Hang on though Martins got shit for suggesting he shouldn't play with his groin injury Owen wasn't on the pitch for the St James' Park training session on Friday. I'd go with Viduka and Lovenkrands up front with Martins to come on as an impact sub again (assuming Martins isn't 100% fit still). -
He used to go by the name Marko Viduka.

I doubt there will be many posts in the "Players in public" thread anymore.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/8053129.stm Some people on here often said they wouldn't mind Leroy Lita. Well he's free now. I can't see NUFC wanting him, especially as a Championship side are releasing him.

The type of players we need: - At least one player, preferably two who are free kick specialists. We currently don't have any. Someone else who can take a decent corner. Guthrie is our only current player who can. A left back as cover for Enrique. Creative midfielders I.e. people who can cross the ball, score goals, provide chances for others, etc.
