  1. Bowyer was also found not guilty in that famous court case in which Woodgate was found guilty of affray. It's strange how Bowyer gets all the flack but Woodgate gets next to none when he was the one proven guilty of something.
  2. Is that still true though? Our famous waiting list for season tickets is long gone. We have had a few sub-48,000 attendance Premiership games this season. The people I know with season tickets have said they aren't going to renew them. There were a few others who didn't renew for this season.
  3. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any team has had two strikers score 20 premiership goals each in the same season. Also, Owen has never scored 20 premiership goals in a season. There's a first time for everything though!
  4. 'House of Pain' isn't it? One of True Faith, The Mag or NUFC.com (can't remember which) call it that occasionally in their articles.
  5. I'm not surprised players keep themselves to themselves. These days there is always a kiss and tell story, a rape accusation, a tabloid stitch up and God knows what else just waiting to happen.
  6. Thursday 1st March 2007: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6409429.stm Ferdinand faces trial for assault Premiership footballer Anton Ferdinand is to stand trial over an alleged brawl at an east London nightclub. The West Ham player and younger brother of England international Rio Ferdinand was arrested outside Faces in Ilford in October 2006. Mr Ferdinand, 22, denies charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and violent disorder. His co-accused Edward Dawkins, 28, of Beckton, east London, who faces similar charges, pleaded not guilty. The pair were granted unconditional bail ahead of the five-day trial on 12 November. The indictment, read out at Snaresbrook Crown Court, identified their alleged victim as Emile Walker. Up to 15 people were allegedly been involved in the disturbance outside the club in Cranbrook Road.
  7. A list of footballing arseholes wouldn't be complete without Dennis Wise.
  8. No doubt he'll recover fully just in time to be banned.
  9. Well that's this topic killed then! Seriously though, it's nice to have a change of tactic. The opposition must have been surprised when we did a long throw. We never do long throws.
  10. Which one? The long throw or our current method?
  11. It was interesting to see that in Oguchi Onyewu we have finally got someone in the team who can throw the ball a decent distance. It makes a change from the predictable 'routine' that we always use: - wait until everyone is marked, throw the ball to the nearest man who will then return the ball to the thrower, who will then punt the ball up field.
  12. They sold Larsson to Birmingham in January.
  13. From today's Journal on ICNewcastle (it doesn't say who wrote the story) The Magpies will definitely sign one more striker in the summer, with Peter Crouch, Darren Bent and Dean Ashton all in Roeder's thinking, and that would finally give the Magpies a strikeforce to rival any in the Premiership even if it promises a few difficult selection decisions for Roeder. It is highly unlikely Martins and Owen will gel as a partnership, hence Roeder's pursuit of a forward with a physical presence and aerial threat to play alongside one of them. But for now the former Newcastle captain can only marvel at the possibilities. "I'm building a squad around Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen and you all know how I feel about (Shola) Ameobi," said Roeder, after watching Martins score his 14th goal of his first season in English football against Zulte-Waregem. "Michael is not just a top Premiership player, he is a world-class striker. "Oba is probably Nigeria's best striker and that part of the team is starting to look very healthy for next year. When Owen is fit with Ameobi and possibly another striker at the start of next season, that part of the team will be looking seriously good."
  14. People seem a bit worried that we'll lose him. There isn't really much recent (last 10 years or so) history of Newcastle being a selling club. The only ones that come to mind are selling a constantly injured Woodgate at a profit and Jenas who wanted to leave and most people weren't bothered to lose. If Chelsea come in with an insane offer (£25m+) then we may sell but I can't see us selling him to anyone else. Martins is probably happy because he has gone from being a sub at Inter to the main man at Newcastle.
  15. So he picks up the Real Madrid coach and drives him to Madrid? I was joking. Rutger Hauer plays the bad guy in an 80's horror/thriller film called 'The Hitcher' about a man who gives a lift to a hitch-hiker who turns out to be a serial killer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hitcher
  16. "Santiago's fancy footwork in the Premier League piques the interest of Real Madrid coach Rudi Van Der Merwe, who buys the hotshot as part of an exchange deal for Michael Owen." Thanks for solving the mystery. Santiago Munes is driving to Real Madrid when he picks up a hitchhiker played by Rutger Hauer.
  17. That's what I thought. Apparently he wins the world cup in the planned 3rd film. Funny that considering he's from Mexico and not Italy. There will have to be a lot of digital trickery to make that happen!
  18. Has anyone seen this film? Saw the first one which was ok from a local sites point of view but not much else. I don' t fancy seeing the sequel but I wonder how they go about getting "Santiago Munes" from Newcastle to Real Madrid. I'm guessing they try to make it look like a swap for Owen as I'm pretty sure their film cameras filmed Owen's press conference. 2 out of 5 review from the BBC: - http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2007/02/05/goal_2_2007_review.shtml
  19. Why are all these accusations coming out now? Why didn't they complain at the time? Are the FA contacting all the clubs Emre has played and saying "Get your complaints in. We're doing a witch hunt of Emre"? If Emre is guilty he deserves to be punished (although as usual it's NUFC that will really suffer when we end up selling him for less than we bought him). His defence quotes certainly make it sound like he needs educating on what counts as racist. You can bet he'll be found guilty the day he fully recovers from his calf injury.
  20. Does that mean Crouch's Robot dance celebration would be ok?
  21. If they did get promoted has Roy Keane got all the necessary badges to be manager in the Premiership (a la Roeder/Southgate)? A Sunderland fan at work thinks he did all his badges while at Man U but I doubt he's got them all.
  22. Strange how all those West Ham fans who at the start of the season were saying "Roeder will get you relegated. Finish 7th one season, relegated the next." aren't around anymore.
  23. Shearer is the only one who bothers to be impartial on MOTD so he might as well become totally biased in a "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" way. All that calling Steven Gerrard "Stevie G" crap (like he's their best mate) from the Liverpool boys Hansen and Lawrenson.
  24. Bad day for Mark Lawrenson yesterday with Liverpool and Preston losing.
  25. Krul had a second operation on his Knee in the last few weeks so he won't be near the first team for weeks if not months.
