  1. Walked into the window with no director of football, our best player being a wantaway, and set to be rejected by all of our top targets. Walked out with a totally remade squad and true CL-level depth for the first time in the PIF era, all for a relatively negligible net spend when you factor in the Isak and Osula( ) fees. 7/10 window in a vacuum, 9/10 with context.

    Yoane Wissa

This is a lot of money. Then again it’s also just Osula+26.5m.
  3. If Osula is worth 28.5m these days, totally understand Brentford being insulted by our initial 35m Wissa offer.
  4. For the next 12 hours, anyone who posts an embedded tweet that isn’t us actually signing a player immediately goes to the firing squad.
  5. Immediate death penalty for that.
  6. Guys, we can all start panicking when we actually don’t sign a second striker today. We don’t have to do it preemptively. I’ll be right there with you on the ledge if it doesn’t happen.
  7. Whoever we sign will be amortized over five years while the Isak “profit” hits all at once. Obviously that wouldn’t matter if we are dealing with real money, but we have functionally infinite funds that are only being constrained by arbitrary lines on a spreadsheet, so it does.

    Plane spotting

Come on guys. Show us some fucking planes
  9. They are the rules that we have to operate under and it makes no sense to pretend that they don’t exist.
  10. Maybe copium, but signs do point to Chelsea stalling until the last minute because they thought they may be able to extract a permanent deal out of us (we all know the two clubs talk a lot and have a good working relationship.) Does that mean recalling Jackson was because they thought they would have a permanent deal from us and not because of the Delap injury? Probably not, but there is a slim chance.
  11. Going to be a bit nervy going into the season with two strikers who don’t score goals as their primary attribute but.. sure, I’ll take it.
  12. If we do have a deal in place I imagine the club would leak it relatively early in the morning so people don’t go insane. if we don’t have a deal in place…
  13. I just can’t possibly imagine that we’d buy Wissa for any price that I’d be remotely happy with.
  14. even if we didn’t buy anyone and sold Bruno tomorrow it would be a 1/10 on the despair scale relative to the average day in the Ashely era.
  15. Eight hours behind the UK so by the time I wake up in the morning we’ll already be pretty close to the deadline. We better have a striker by then
  16. Good thing our squad depth is incomparably better
  17. That’s exactly correct. I’m talking about pre-Isak sale. Now, obviously we don’t have immediate PSR issues.

    Nick Woltemade

He looks like Bradley Cooper if Bradley Cooper was 6”6 and born on a rural German goat farm.
  19. Don’t know how anyone can say this with any confidence. We just spent close to 200m in transfer fees (pre-Isak sale) and probably increased our wage bill by a lot. The club’s revenue hasn’t suddenly doubled. We were likely going to have to sell one of our best players at some point to fund continued spending and if we were, it might as well be the idiot who doesn’t want to be here.
  20. No matter how impressive we thought he was, not a chance in hell we would have bought him if we knew what was about to happen. We got lucky in the sense that he turned out to be so much better than anyone expected that it was totally worth it to wait a year.
  21. If anything the "letting Milan sell us a dude about to be sent up the river for gambling" part demonstrates incompetence, not the opposite. We just got very lucky that he turned out to be a world beater after that.
  22. It doesn't really work this way. The fact that we would sell Isak, need the replacement, and will have money was already factored into asking prices ages ago. The market does not just get around to reacting when David Orenstein tweets.
  23. I find it hard to believe that every elite club in Europe was tapped out on PSR, it even so, more than enough time to sell a player like Liverpool sold Nunez to get the room to sign him even if true. If he truly is a 150m striker, then someone would have at least tried to see if they could free up space to get him at less than that.
