The one damn game all year that I can't find a way to watch, and obviously we're going to have a blinder...
-
Early goal, just what we needed. Now for some old-fashioned beatdown.

My text is saying "attempt saved." Did we score? EDIT: ok, fixed now. So... OWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!

Haven't you noticed? We are all Nile Ranger

I think Kinnear will try the 4-3-3 once Viduka becomes fit for 90 minutes (which he probably won't be for Stoke.) It's just too difficult a decision to choose two out of Owen/Viduka/Martins, and I don't think Kinnear can make that choice. How hard can it be, just go out to training and say "Alright lads, you remember what Kevin used to tell you to do last year? Just go out and do that."

At the moment Bassong is looking like a younger, faster version of Faye, so in the end I don't think it turned out too bad.

Like Cacapa, Faye, Geremi? Weren't they big Sam's signings? Presumably under Ashley? Don't agree with the OP btw, I don't think it was clear at all. iirc that was stated as part of Wise's brief though when he was recruited (possibly by Keegan?) Cacapa, Faye, and Geremi all came before Wise, Jimenez, and Vertre, so I'm assuming they were all Big Sam signings. I think the whole "system" thing came after Ashley sacked Sam, possibly because of how bad (with the exception of Faye and Beye) his signings were. Compare Smith/Baton/Cacapa/Faye/Geremi/Beye to Jonas/Bassong/Guthrie/Colo/Xisco/Nacho. Obviously two different influences going on there. Hmm, that's actually an interesting theory. Did Ashley actually bring in his team because he didn't want another manager spending badly? If so, Alan Smith could actually be a direct cause of the shit we're in right now

Re-read the very first sentence again mate. Why worry about Ashley taking a hit? If he runs the club into the ground, it's his loss. Someone will buy it eventually and run it properly. He's suing the corporate entity that is NUFC, not the individual Mike Ashley. Whatever settlement is reached will come from club funds, or do you really think Ashley will reach for his personal checkbook to pick up the tab? Wasn't favorable towards Keegan before and I certainly have no love for him now. I'd like to see people still argue that he "loves the club" when he seems willing to take a few million quid from our coffers when we're desperate for cash in January. but if he has been wronged be should stand up for himself (like he seems to be doing) regardless of his love for the club. I agree, he has the right. I would too if I was in his position I guess. Just saying that this should blow out of the water any idea that he ever held the club above his own financial benefit or pride. He's no Geordie Messiah, just another manager that's come and failed. (I'm talking about the second time around, not the first, so lets not get into that argument.) i'll bet if any of us were a contractor employed by the club and we got done over we'd have it up in court if need be. Most of us aren't swimming in money like Keegan is though. (Assuming he hasn't actually run himself to ground over the Soccer Circus like some have claimed) As if that makes a difference. I'd be very interested in hearing how it doesn't. Never heard of principles then? They're quite old, and I image they outdate money. When did I say what KK is doing is morally wrong? I'm just saying that this should put to bed any fantasies about him sacrificing his personal welfare out of his "love for the club." By the way Dave, the fact that consciously limit your arguments to pithy one line jabs doesn't make you any better than the rest of us rabble

There should be a global ban on "I told you so"s on this board. Then again, NE5 would have nothing to say.

No chance. Even if it's just on loan, I think he's a realistic target. I honestly don't see the big four going in for him. Man City are a possibility, can't see Everton being able to afford him, Spurs may want him but not sure on them and as for Villa, again I'm not sure if they'd want him. If he wants to come to England I think we'd be one of his best options. We're probably somewhere around 15th among Premiership clubs right now as far as attractiveness for incoming transfer targets goes. Never mind the Big 4, City, Everton, and Spurs. We'd probably lose out to places like Boro, Portsmouth, and Fulham the way things are with us right now.

and if he did, i reckon we should stick a bid in for geovanni, he's the creative midfielder we need like Problem is, he's also the creative midfielder everyone else needs. He'd also rightfully command around 10m, money we apparently don't have.

Different people feel fulfilled by different things. If that's the lifestyle that makes him happy, than who are we to say he's wrong? ...As long as he's not playing for the toon.

I'd like to see Keegan at Sunderland just to confirm my belief that the world is officially insane.
-
Allardyce at Sunderland would be... exquisite. A match made in heaven.
-
Who, his aunt with balls?

I personally don't care that it's Tottenham, it's just that they were all amazing matches and they all happened to be against the same team.

is keano in the KKK or have i missed summit here? If you'd like to try to moderate every single thread on here so that each one stays on topic, be my guest. You can start in the Nile Ranger thread

"deeply ashamed" was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but you can't deny that there's an odd fixaiton on the part of many white Americans (I don't even know how African Americans entered into the discussion) to claim a linkage to some sort of European ethnic identity.

TBH I can't imagine how we could actually have literally "no money to spend." I can understand Ashley not wanting to invest any more of his own personal funds into the club. But if I remember correctly last summer was a net plus for us, and doesn't the club generate SOME sort of revenue? Fair enough it's Ashley's club and he can insist on pocketing all of that instead of spending it on transfers, but you'd think it'd make common sense to at least release the funds that the club is generating considering that we're in the thick of a relegation fight.
